HAHAHAHAHAHAHA: Oscars Hit All-Time Low

They might have done better had they let Gervais host:

From Yahoo: In the latest TV ratings, ABC’s broadcast of the 2020 Oscars averaged 23.6 million total viewers and a 5.3 demo rating, down 20 and 30 percent from last year’s first host-less outing.

This year’s Academy Awards thus hit new lows in both measures, lagging behind the previous “record holder” — the 2018 Oscars hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.

The Oscars outdrew both this award season’s Grammys (which were steady-ish with 18.7 million viewers) and the Golden Globes (which dipped to 18.3 million viewers), making it TV’s most-watched entertainment special in a year (since the previous Oscars), though the Grammys edged out the Oscars in the coveted 18-49 demo (having scored a 5.4 rating).

Last year’s host-less Oscars delivered 29.6 million total viewers and a 7.7 demo rating in Nielsen finals.

It’s hard to imagine why anyone would want to watch this circle-jerk of Hollyweirdos patting themselves on the back. But millions still do and for them there is no hope. Too stoopid. Best Documentary went to American Factory, cranked out by Hussein and Mike’s production company. I assume it’s about the horrors inflicted on workers by toxic white capitalists. So go work in a Chinese factory then, they’re always hiring. The director, Julia Reichert, accepted the award and actually said, “workers of the world, unite” And they wonder why we call them commies

Never watched the Gervais video before. Now *that* was entertainment. I had completely forgotten that the Oscars were even on, still kind of getting over dad’s passing the prior week, family in town, etc. But I had read somewhere that each attendee or maybe each winner or whatever got a bag of “goodies” valued at something like $138,000. I wonder how many actually needed such crap? I wonder if any donated the value to a charity? I wonder if any actually declined accepting such a gift, sensing that it was somehow obscene, or perhaps akin to an abridgement of the… Read more »
