Gen. Petraeus Collapses

General David Petraeus, the commander of US Central Command, who is known for his superior fitness level, collapsed at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing this morning, June 15, 2010:
Jen Dimascio of Politico reports that Petraeus  was escorted out of the hearing room, pale and looking downward. Several minutes later, Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.) returned to the room to say that Petraeus was feeling much better. When Petraeus returned to the room, he said, “It wasn’t Sen. Mccain’s questions. … I just got dehydrated.”
Petraeus was under intense questioning about his support for Obama’s plan to start withdrawing troops from Afghanistan in July 2011. At the hearing’s outset, McCain called the current situation in Afghanistan possibly a “mounting crisis,” and he called on Obama to scrap his current timetable for withdraw, “It’s time for the president to state unequivocally that we will stay in Afghanistan until we succeed.”
The hearing was postponed until tomorrow.

I have no idea why Petraeus would want us out of Afghanistan but he is the man who knows our military capabilities, our strengths, along with our weaknesses.
I have heard some other comments about our inability to win this conflict. I am not a war strategist — I do remember a few small skirmishes along the way and personally, I would not want the decision on my head.
Maybe some of you more intelligent individuals can enlighten me.

You might be right– Oslobo commands it and the generals go along with it—it might be that simple. I still wonder what Patraeus thinks privately, but I am sure we will never know.
