  5. what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger…
although it might make you wish… 🙂 Feel better ….
grape-juice for sore throat, colloidal silver for ‘bugs’,
    prayer for everything else

  6. Get well soon–they can’t keep a good woman down for long !

  7. Hope you get better soon! If you are throwing up…take liquid Benodryl. It stops the throwing up..if you can keep it down long enough! 😀

  8. I hope you recover soon!!!
    Good Luck and get well!!

  9. Get well soon E….

  10. Get better soon, dear friend. I am hardly ever sick, but succumbed last Friday night to a nasty stomach bug. Stayed in bed for 2 days doped up on Benadryl! It takes very little of any med to knock me out!

  11. Get well Dear Lady, just keep it to yourself… 🙂

  12. Collodial silver and apple cider vinegar.

  13. Sorry to hear it.
Sheesh, just when I am starting to feel almost human again, ’cause I have been a miserable wretch for the last couple of weeks. 🙁

It’s your Inner-Liberal, fighting to come out! 😉
Hope you’re feeling better tonight… Rest and fluids, no caffeine, Tylenol and good ol’ Pepto Bismol (it comes in pills now), benedryl to sleep… you know the drill…
    Ed, the nursey gadfly…

    • Dear oleander, you shot yourself in the foot again, because that means my inner-Liberal is all manner of (cough, sore throat, headache, chills, upset tummy, fatique) nasties! Getting rid of my “inner Liberal” is skin to an exorcism, but it’s worth it!
Seriously, I appreciate your advice and empathy. You are fast becoming my favorite Liberal. 😉
~Eowyn, the pain in your butt 😀
P.S. I have a sincere question to Oleander the Nurse:
Is it just my imagination, or is the “common cold” (the effects of which are anything but common) worse as one ages? I honestly don’t remember the cold feeling this awful when I was a child.

  15. Please take care of yourself “E” take as much time as you need!

  16. Your description fits what I had/have to a T.
Day 1: It began early in the morning with a ticklish throat, which led to many coughs, for which cough drops (sugar free!) were a help only as long as the drop was in my mouth. By the late afternoon of Day One, I began administering the Zicam zinc mouth sprays every 3 hours. Sleepless night, even though I took an aspirin before bed.
Day 2: Soreness and raspiness were added to the ticklish throat, and I began losing my voice. Still coughing, although now my head hurt every time I coughed. Upset, unsettled tummy as in a stomach “flu”. Stayed in bed all day. Drank ginger tea (slices of fresh ginger). Very miserable.
Day 3 (today): Sometime in the very early morning hours when I was momentarily awaken by “peekaboo”, I knew I was over the worst — my head is clear, as a bell!!!! What a wonderful feeling. I’m not out of the woods yet. Coughs and headaches remain. So I will continue some bed rest.
I describe all this only to alert others. If you should experience the above symptoms, know that just as Sage described, the first 2 days are the worst. You will get better!
THANK YOU to all for your empathetic expressions of concern and home remedies! Fellows of FOTM are THE BEST!

    • P.S. I didn’t do some of the recommended remedies only because:
      1. Being a vegetarian, I have no chicken soup.
      2. I have no cranberry juice (but my husband does have prune juice. Does that count? LOL).
      3. I have no idea what coloidal silver is and will need to look into this!
