Fourth of July weekend in Chiraq: 75 shot, 14 fatally, including 10 minors

Another weekend, more shootings in Chiraq. And more silence from BLM.

MyFoxChicago reports that 14 people have been killed and 61 others wounded in shootings across Chicago so far over the Fourth of July weekend.

Ten of the weekend’s victims were minors, and two of the children died from their injuries.

This was as of 11:30 last night. Don’t be surprised if the shooting numbers go up by Monday morning. They always do.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot tweeted about the violence last night:

She went on:

“As families gather to commemorate the founding of our nation, we must ask ourselves: is this who we are as a city or as a country? We cannot grow numb to this. We are making progress in slowing shootings, but we have to do better, every single one of us.”

Seems that one person, Mayor Lightfoot, should be doing better. Remember this promise? “Mayor Lightfoot Lays Out Grand Plan To Fight Gun Violence”

The shooting and murder statistics in Chiraq speak quite loudly. And they have for YEARS.

Chicagoans voted this womyn into office. They’ve voted in demorat mayors since 1931. I got just one thing to say:

“… were ended by the barrel of a gun.”

Way back in the early 1980’s…I lived & worked in Utah on an Indian Reservation for US Public Health Service, Indian Health Service. I paid for my parents to take the train to an fro from Maryland to visit w/us, and I accompanied them both ways. It was fantastic, with our own sleeping car, etc. However, on our way back to Maryland, somewhere around Nebraska or later, my dad began having chest pains. The Amtrak personnel told me that all they could do was let us off in a spot we requested (middle of nowhere). My mom and I canvased… Read more »

CalGirl, you should write an autobiography, not just a book on your dogs and cats as I had urged you to. Really!

A compliment 🙂 I’ve had a hugely “varied” life fr influence of late 1800’s family religiosity ( family upbringing) to today’s modern electronics that I must use today in my profession. Looking back,it was so rare to experience–this span within the era in which I’ve lived. But happy to report as a “usual” post-script to all this, that, today, still in my Covid stay-at home, my most love-forward cat (huge male silver & black tabby who thinks that his name is “Handsome”) would not allow me to do my online work. He tried to sit on my computer keys; tried… Read more »

Instead of taking responsibility, mayor Lightfoot blames guns, fear of police for rise in violent shootings.

They were more constructive in L.A.– tell them they can’t have fireworks or go to the beach on July 4th weekend:
