Four senators blocked Senate from passing bill to defund Planned Parenthood

A June 2018 Gallup Poll found that although 60% of Americans support legalized abortion during the first three months of pregnancy, most oppose it in the later stages. Only 28% and 13% still support abortion once a pregnancy reaches, respectively, the second and third trimester. In the third trimester, the unborn baby is often viable outside the womb with medical support.

Put another way, the Gallup Poll found that 40% of Americans — 4 of every 10 — oppose legalized abortion. The population of the United States in 2018 is 327.123 million. That means 130.85 million Americans oppose legalized abortion.

It is bad enough that 4 of every 10 Americans believe abortion is immoral and should not be legalized. We are compelled by our government to give financial support, by way of our taxes, to the killing of unborn human beings.

Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion business in America, kills some 320,000 unborn babies every year, 900 babies every day. Its most recent annual report showed a record income of $1.46 billion — $400 million of which came from taxpayers. As Senator Rand Paul said in his speech on the Senate floor:

“Planned Parenthood received over 400 million dollars of taxpayer money, the government with a wink and a nod tells us that Planned Parenthood doesn’t spend the money on abortions but everybody knows that the taxpayers are really cross-subsidizing Planned Parenthood’s abortion mills.”

LifeNews reports that on Thursday, August 23, 2018, another effort to defund Planned Parenthood — a pro-life amendment sponsored by Sen. Paul that would revoke taxpayer funding for the abortion mill — failed in the U.S. Senate by a narrow 45-48 vote.

Republicans hold a narrow 51-seat majority in the Senate. Were it not for four senators — two Republicans, and two Democrats who had touted themselves as pro-life — the amendment to defund Planned Parenthood would have passed. By their votes against the amendment, these four senators are forcing 130.85 million Americans to subsidize the killing of the unborn with our hard-earned tax dollars:

  1. Susan Collins (R-Maine)
  2. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska)
  3. Joe Donnelly (D-Indiana)
  4. Joe Manchin (D-West Virginia)

After the vote Thursday, Planned Parenthood leader Dawn Laguens personally thanked Collins and Murkowski on Twitter:

“Huge thank you to @SenateDems, @lisamurkowski, & @SenatorCollins for standing up & protecting access to health care.”

Last year, the Senate also fell short of enough votes to defund Planned Parenthood, in part, because of Collins and Murkowski. In a letter to her constituents last summer, Murkowski vowed that she is “committed” to forcing taxpayers to fund the abortion chain. Earlier this week in an interview with Politico, Collins proclaims her fealty to the abortion mill, “I have voted for 21 years now for funding for Planned Parenthood. And yet, they continue to question my commitment. And that is extremely aggravating and unfair.”

Neither Murkowski nor Collins has indicated if they will support U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. Although both pro-abort anti-life senators voted to confirm Justice Neil Gorsuch, they are facing huge pressure from abortion activists to vote against Kavanaugh.

Planned Parenthood has launched a $30 million political spending campaign to “take over Congress” in the November midterms. The only way the abortion business will be defunded completely is if pro-life voters head to the polls this November and provide the pro-life side a few more votes in the Senate to be able to achieve victory.

SIGN THE PETITION! Congress Must De-Fund Planned Parenthood Immediately

  1. The November blue wave will be obliterated by the RED TIDE.

  2. Petition sent! Those four have bloodied hands; why don’t they personally ask the constituents if they authorize that taxes are used for committing murder?

  3. Keep calling it “health care” all you want PP…doesn’t change the fact that you KILL babies.

    Shameful.

  4. Rupublicans just can’t help shooting themselves in the foot.

  5. Collins and Mukowski…abortion is not part of the Republican platform…come on Maine and Alaska..get rid of yhese Dems in Repub. Clothing. They always vote liberal.

  6. I’m sure I would burst into tears if I was there. Learn to respect all living things.

  7. This should not a federally funded but start a go-fund me account for those that want to put their dollars toward baby-killing. And those that don’t won’t be forced to pay for something they believe is murder.

    • BRAVO Mandy! Great idea. Just think…maybe people could even “name designate” for whom they are donating: “I’m donating $100 toward ending the life of/killing—if you are frank in language—-(fill in the blank)’s baby. Flowers to follow.

When the abortion bill first passed so long ago, I THOUGHT there was a legal covenant with the American voting populace/tax payer that NO FEDERAL MONIES would ever be funneled to finance abortions???????What HAPPENED TO THAT PROMISE????????? Broken promises over and over again from our Washington, D.C. SWAMP….actually it’s much worse than a swamp now…it has devolved into a stinking STY.

  8. Doesn’t matter how you feel about abortions. The Federal governemnt should not be funding this….or any other kind of health care.

Yes, I would call it health care as well. It cures you of a medical situation called pregnancy.

Having said all that…..the horse has left the barn, we will see “free health care” provided by Government in our life time. Only the very wealthy (or desperate) will get timely health care…….this includes your precious abortions.

  9. RICH & BEV HAYES

Stop the child murder now with the Louisiana Life For All Amendment/Act.
Every State can do this immediately. It’s called State Soverignty and enacting the Rule of Mosaic Law. SCOTUS does not make law!!!
Life begins at conception and is immediately protected by Mosaic Law and the Constitution.

  10. Could someone in Maine please explain why you would vote Republican and keep send Susan Collins back to the Senate every time?

  11. Donnelly, Manchin are toast as Senators come November; as for Collins and Murkowski they will not count for much then. Riddance!

  12. The new list of shame. Those who could have stopped the government sponsored infanticide business operating under the name of Planned Parenthood who’s method of birth control is aborting a living human being so the mother can go out and do it again and again.

    Susan Collins (R-Maine)
    Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska)
    Joe Donnelly (D-Indiana)
    Joe Manchin (D-West Virginia)

Your families must be real proud of you. Those who were not aborted.

  13. Pray without ceasing

So, FOUR HUNDRED million goes out of taxpayer coffers to fund this abomination, with THIRTY of it ending up as kickbacks to slimy soulless politicans?! How on earth is any of this legal??!!

Everyone involved with any of this, at any level, should be behind bars.

  14. Yes, they are unspeakably evil. This is the product of having no faith. Just look at Hill and Webb’s spawn:

    https://www.naturalnews.com/2018-08-24-chelsea-clinton-claims-abortions-added-trillions-to-the-u-s-economy-huh.html

There is something so basic about respect for life that, if a person doesn’t have it, it is tantamount to not being human. Certainly they have no soul.

    • Lo—I saw her say this on the news and I thought she was Nancy Pelosi-quality (like, when Nancy bobbled her head and eventually rambled-out/ said that welfare was a positive economic stat b/c people spent the welfare money). Of course, so many Dems are “Nancy Pelosi-quality” or they’d maybe NOT be Dems in the first place! Circular thinking: killing babies costs money that the federal government subsidizes (like welfare) and so, the money goes back out into the economy, to raise funds to pay back, in this unending circle, to people who kill babies…..Chelsea Should Be PROUD…..she should wear her “I’m With Her” T-shirt on every speaking engagement…..she’s not just a chip off the OLD block….she’s a millstone. Hope she keeps it up.

      • CalGirl, I have heard Larry Nichols relate that when Hillary found out she was pregnant, she wanted to have an abortion. Of course, Chelsea wasn’t Bill’s child. I find what Larry said quite ironic, considering how viciously Chelsea defends abortion. She’s like her momma, the devil.😈

    Well, a few thoughts:
    1) Not sure why Collins and batty Murkowski continue to label themselves Republicans when they’re clearly taking up the mantra of the leftist Dems.

    2) Donnelly’s only going to vote conservatively if it’s his only means of keeping his office within a Trump electorate. Apparently he didn’t think this mattered. However, it means (D) Heidi Heitkamp DID vote for the bill? What of McCaskill? I’d heard they were two other possible yay votes from the Dems. Or maybe that was only in RE: the Kavanaugh vote?

Er, my bad, NO Democrats voted for the bill: https://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/terence-p-jeffrey/republican-senate-moving-fund-planned-parenthood-and-aborted-baby

What was I thinking; it’s their party’s *primary* platform plank.

    3) Just disappointed in Manchin… had only recently (last week) heard him quoted as being “pro-choice”, which surprised me. The left must have gotten their claws into him. Maybe vote no here in order to win his next election…

I’m actually thinking/hoping he may yet switch parties, but not sure how the unions in WVa would take that. Maybe better to remain a moderate Democrat and keep his office. But the coal miners there sure seem to like Trump. So who knows?

    • I don’t see WHAT the continued “excuses” are for Collins/Lisa M–time for them to GO AWAY. They do not vote for the will of their constituants …hardly EVER in the past, and not certainly in the present. IF their voting public in their states want a Dem…then why don’t they JUST VOTE for a DEM? As for JOE….I have no idea why the people of West Virginia keep sending him. He’s just an outright LIAR, evidently….or it could kindly be said….”misleads his constituents in order to gain/keep their votes.” I lived for a third of my life in the tiny part of Western Maryland (maybe 10 miles-wide) where, when you cross the Potomac, you are in either Virginia OR West Virginia…….and I can tell you that voters in that part of WVA (the panhandle) are Trump supporters/Republicans….and even farther afield, deeper into WVA (think Kentucky), even the old die-hard Dems are Trump supporters. What has Joe Mansion done to assure them that he has their interests in his heart and in his vote? Time to retire him, too.

  16. Itchin’ to be McCain’s replacement as progressive horsepuckey’s biggest advocate they are.

  17. They have blood on their hands. In this life, they may get by with it. When they stand at that Great White Throne of Judgement, what will they say then? We all have to answer to our creator either when we stop breathing on this earth as we know it now, or when the Book of Revelations and the Judgements start happening. Most believe there are no degrees of sin and that sin is sin. I disagree because we are told that it would be better to have a mill stone hung around our necks and sink to the bottom of the sea than to harm little children. That has to include babies in the womb. May the Lord have mercy on us ALL.

  18. And the baby-murderers call us NAZIs.
