We are rebuilding Fellowship of the Minds to secure our blog from the enemy, so that the site won’t keep going down with error messages like “404 Not Found” or “504 Gateway Time Out: server didn’t respond in time” — the cause of which are continual DDOS bot attacks.
I was told by the host-server that FOTM needed more memory/storage. So I upgraded to a managed cloud server (MCS) with supposedly “unlimited” storage, which cost more.
Still the problem persisted. I was told that even more memory/storage is needed!
So I upgraded the MCS to have more memory/storage, which, of course, costs even more.
Not only did the site-going-down problem continued, it actually got worse in the last week.
I finally turned to computer wizard Andy for help. He was my last resort.
Andy has reconstructed FOTM and moved us to a new server with a secure firewall, which means the site should no longer go down with tiresome regularity. In the process of reconstructing FOTM, however, there are and will be inevitable glitches, including:
- The inability of readers to comment because, mysteriously, the comment submit box has disappeared.
- The loss of our post-editing functions (which is why this post is bare-bone, with no bells or whistles).
Please be patient as we iron out these glitches.
Our brilliant computer wizard, Andy, just fixed the glitches!
- The “Comment” function is restored, which means y’all can post comments on FOTM once again. I just tested it, and my comment was published. 😁
- And for FOTM‘s contributors/writers, the Post Editor is also restored.
I can’t tell you all how phenomenal Andy is. He is not only dazzlingly skillful, he is also a truly good man — and he is “on our side” in this ferocious political-spiritual war we’re in, which is sure to get even nastier and more vicious this election campaign year. But thanks to Andy, the reconstructed Fellowship of the Minds is now stronger and secured, ready to fight the battle.
Andy has my abject, undying gratitude. 💜
Thank you for your patience. Now, fire away with your comments!
