Flag Day – June 14, 2011

Old Glory waves everyday!

Today, June 14, 2011, is Flag Day. This day commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which happened that day by resolution of the Second Continental Congress in 1777, according to Wikipedia.  The above picture is of my front porch and my flag that flies everyday.

Actually, the week of June 14 is designated as “National Flag Week.” During National Flag Week, the president will issue a proclamation urging U.S. citizens to fly the American flag for the duration of that week. The flag should also be displayed on all Government buildings.

The American Flag represents many things: pride, love for our country, and the utmost respect for all that fought for her.  Celebrate our greatest nation today (and everyday) and fly your flag! Or you can plant one. God Bless the USA and our military, each and everyday!
