Dolly Parton says Americans have lost our morals

At the Hollywood premiere of her new movie, Joyful Noise, on Jan. 11, 2012, this woman bleated that Americans “just seem to have lost all our morals and principles and values these days”:

Since Parton has loyal admirers among FOTM’s writers, all I’ll say is:

  1. Pancake makeup is the least of her artifices. She is be-wigged, botoxed, face-lifted, plastic surgeried, and silicone-boobed to the max. Then she has the audacity to wear a cross right above that strange-looking cavernous cleavage….

  2. W…W…w…what is that protruberance between her bazooms?
    A thumb? A…what?

  3. A most unfortunate camera angle! LOL

  4. I still cannot figure out how the heck she can standup without falling over. She looks front heavy!

  5. God looks not on the outward appearance but the heart. Dolly Parton’s heart is quite beautiful.

  6. Who has a problem with this?? (I actually read the article.) At least she wasn’t disobeying scripture to place faith in an army rather than GOD. (Which God says in the BIBLE is an incredible SIN.) “Parton said working on the faith-based film brought her closer to God.
“I always ask God to work through me, and let me be a light of some kind and help in this world, so I always pray for that and I always want to do good,” she continued. “We’re all just a bunch of sinners, but we do the best we can. He works through people in His own way, and I always ask him to let me be a blessing to people.”

    • I am a little confused about the whole army thing. Joshua had an army, David had an army, Samuel had an army, and these are just a few. How can we say that God has not done miraculous things through our army? I believe our army is what it is because of our Lord and Savior! I do have faith in our Army because I have faith that our Lord is with them. IMO having faith in something is not a sin, but having other gods is a sin. I am very THANKFUL for our men and women who give up everything to fight for our freedom. I have faith that God is protecting this nation by working through our brave men and women in uniform. To the men and women who have and are fighting for my children’s freedom, THANK YOU! Thank you for standing up and having faith in the Lord when you were called to fight! You are in our prayers! 🙂

  7. I’m sorry but someone who starred in a cheesy movie called “Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” cannot teach me anything about morals.

    • Can someone explain to me how a woman who had normal-sized breasts at 20 suddenly sprout gargantuan ones? This is a pic of Parton when she married Carl Dean in 1966. She was born in 1946, which means she was 20 in this photo:

      • Ohhhhhh, let me tell you the secret… its a little miraculous thing called…. silicone!!! They seem to have that effect on people… 😉

  8. No, God does not look on the outward appearance. …which means whether we are beautiful, ugly tall, short, fat or thin, expensive clothes cheap clothes but HE above ANYONE said to clothe ourselves in modesty. We are not to be concerned with the paint and pliating the hair and to dress so that we don’t call attention to ourselves. (not quoted, just interpreted). But if one reads up and is honest…it is IN THERE!!

  9. Let me just say, I got mine b/c I wanted to rebel, which I think is part of growing up. I couldn’t drink yet, I was underage and that would be breaking the law, and I have never felt the need to mess with drugs, so I got a tattoo. It’s a butterfly on my hip. Well….2 kids later…that butterfly looks like it HIT a WALL and is just trying to survive! Everyone gets older, things begin to sag here or fall there, I do not know why I thought a tattoo would be any different! But at least I can use it as a teachable moment, b/c I promise after my daughter sees mine, she will not ever want one! LOL :))

  10. Just for the record, Dave is not a fan of big boobs, and especially not fake ones.
    I like them natural.
And that is all I am going to say. 🙂

    • Dave’s remark made me feel even more depressed about the top heaviness with old-man-butts that runs in my family. 🙁

  11. Dave, you mean you like to be able to breathe! Honestly, I don’t think that’s to much to ask? 😃

  12. As a kid I remember watching a cheesy movie where she played a character who died and went to heaven, and everyone else in heaven was wearing normal robes, but she had on a white low-cut outfit to push-up and accentuate her old wrinkled watermelons. So “Christian”!

  13. Dolly herself refuses to discuss politics on most issues, saying she doesn’t want to alienate or offend her fans of one political persuasion or another and knowing full well that her fan base is so large and diverse that it encompasses many members who are very liberal, many who are very conservative and many who are in the middle. Asked pointblank in 2003 by conservative talk show host Bill O’Reilly on his program if she was a conservative, she replied, “Not really.”

    • I think the problem with Dolly might be that God has given her a platform yet she tends to ignore that and instead lives in the grey colored areas in life. You cannot ride the fence in this day and age. I feel that you need to age gracefully, with dignity. It gets to a point you began to look like Joan Rivers, but at least she will admit it. It isn’t the makeup.

    • As Christians we are to take a stand for right and wrong even if we were to risk losing money. I have friends who I found out were oblivious enough to vote for Obama because they were so utterly clueless about facts. You have Obama supporters who are evil and those who are clueless. If people like Dolly Parton would speak up and not care what evil people thought, then clueless people like my friends might have known better than to vote for Obama.

      • Good distinction between the evil and the clueless libs, Julia! I’ve found the distinction to be true as well. The problem is, since most of the media, TV, movies, & music are liberal, the clueless libs just ass-ume that they have the truth, so they don’t even bother to seek alternative news. So add to their cluelessness, the trait of laziness as well.
One example: I live in the very belly of the liberal beast, so even strangers simply ass-ume I’m also lefty. One morning, as the servers (lectors, Eucharistic ministers, and altar servers) wait in the sacristy before Mass began, this conversation ensued:
Someone said what a cold morning it was.
I responded that since the wind blew all the particulates away, the air is so crisp and clear!
To which a lector said: “We can see Russia from our kitchen window!”
An altar server, an adult man, chortled: “HaHaHa! Sarah Palin!” — and everyone laughed uproariously, except me.
After the derisive laughter died down, I looked at the altar server and said: “You do know that Sarah Palin never said that, don’t you? That line came from a Saturday Night Live skit.”
Silence, and the look of shock on everyone’s faces. They all looked embarrassed.

They’re clueless only because they’re willingly ignorant.

  14. I believe God alone has provided Dolly a platform, now what she does with it, is up to her.  Who knows, maybe she has been strategically placed in her position for such a time as this?
“….And who knows but that you have come to your royal
position for such a time as this?”   ❤(Esther 4:14 NIV)❤
The difference is that Queen Esther was placed into a LIFE or DEATH situation (coming before the king uninvited meant death).  She also had to choose whether or not she should speak up against her husband’s order (His ring was used by Haman, the king’s right hand man, to sign a decree that would annihilate the Jews).
with faith and humility, Queen Esther chose to stand in the “gap” for her people, God’s Chosen Ones, no matter the cost. God was right there with her, producing a miraculous outcome, that only He can provide.
“In the Lord’s hand the king’s heart is a stream of water
that he channels toward all who please him.” ❤(Proverbs 21:1 NIV)❤
