Did you eat at Chick-fil-A today? — w/ readers' photos!

Today — Wednesday, August 1, 2012 — is Support Chick-fil-A Day.

In a recent interview with The Baptist Press on June 16, 2012, Dan Cathy, the chief of Chick-fil-A — which was begun by his father Truett, and now is a $4 billion-plus a year business — said, “We are very much supportive of the family – the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.”
Mind you, Cathy didn’t say that Chick-fil-A would refuse to serve homosexuals. Cathy was simply exercising his Constitutional right to free speech, expressing his support for traditional man-woman marriage! For that, however, he and the restaurant chain and their customers were attacked, cursed, and vilified by Hollywood libs like Roseanne Barr and the Jim Henson (muppets) Company. Several mayors of large American cities — including Boston’s Thomas Menino, Chicago’s Rahm Emanuel, and San Francisco’s Ed Lee — vowed they would not allow Chick-fil-A to open a franchise in their cities.
All Americans who believe that we still have the Constitutional First Amendment right to free speech are encouraged to show their support for Chick-fil-A by buying something — a chicken sandwich or just a cup of coffee — at a Chick-fil-A Restaurant near you.
Even homosexuals support Chick-fil-A! Here’s a cartoon posted on the website GayPatriot.net (h/t FOTM’s moxielouise):

What news reports I’ve seen show that Americans are coming out IN DROVES! In some Chick-fil-A restaurants, customers are lined up in blocks!
Did you go to a Chick-fil-A today? If so, tell us about it!
If you took photos, send them to fellowshipminds@gmail.com and we’ll post them. 🙂
Here are two photos I just received (I’ll be updating with more photos as they come in):

  1. None in my state 🙁
    Yay Chick-fil-a!!

  2. Jam-packed here in Fay’ville… McD’s, BK, etc. were having a slow day. Media (two different TV stations at dinnertime) was there, but stayed in their trucks mostly. No (repeat, NO) protestors. Folk inside said it was even more crowded at Lunch.

  3. Mom and I went to Chick-fil-A at North Carefree and Powers in Colorado Springs today….We were amazed at the sheer numbers of folks there in support of “Traditional Values”, and their willingness to wait patiently in line to have their “say” on the matter! One man said,”If this is any indicator of November,…I can’t wait.” I would guess, 1000 folks were there when we arrived@ 11:00 am…We had our lunch and we were home by 1:00…No “kiss-in’s” were seen!
God Bless America and God Bless Chick-fil-A!

  4. In Cincinnati Ohio it was packed! Lot’s of traditional families! No protests! I saw a cow there and thought of Roseann Barf!

  5. Scroll up for 2 photos taken by Ginny and Kathy! 😀

  6. We tried to go but ours was TOO packed. The parking lot, drive thru and whole area was very very congested. I saw lots of smiling people and no protestors. I would have stayed but I wasn’t by myself.

  7. (This Christine, this page decided use my WordPress sign on, not my FB one.)
OK, this is what I wrote on my FB page, just after getting home, the last paragraph is what I wrote to a friend who commented me a little bit later:
I can say, “I was there!” In my Hagerstown Maryland Chic-fil-A!! At about 3pm, 3:30pm, it was a wait, but not a horrid, (but ever-so-lovely) lines-around-the-building-wait, like at lunch time they said. I did bring a stool to sit on to wait tho! Never needed it and we even found table inside!
Once my dear hubby reminded me what the date it was, bless his heart, he said, “Let’s go!”, even tho he HATES crowds! (Well, so do I, but this was special.) Saw ppl we know, saw YOUNG FOLKS there! AWESOME!!! So for all the libs who think you have a lock on the “young adult” vote, they should have seen how many were there when we were!
And lemme tell you, if you WEREN’T there for Chic-fil-A Appreciation Day, you would’ve taken one look at that crowd and said “oh HECK no, I’m finding somewhere else to eat!” so everyone there was there for Chic-fil-A and to stand behind the owners and our faith. Heck, to TURN INTO the place took us three lights to turn left! All the cars were stacked up that deep! It was SO awesome… And I wore my Tea Party hat and got a lot of weird looks but I didn’t care!! LOL Wish I could get pics off my camera, I’d show you both my hat AND the lines!
We even got a coupon for waiting so long, but everyone was – I’d’ve given it back to them, but eating out is basically unavailable to us right now, ($$$) so one of us for free sure works!! (I would have given it back otherwise, I expected the wait, it wasn’t because the staff was being ignorant. They were beyond kind!) They even had folks outside doing traffic control for folks coming both ways! (“Taking time about”) And if you were going through the drive through, they were taking your order while you were just getting into line, so it would be ready! Awesome teamwork, AWESOME turn out, I was SO proud to be part of that!!
YAY TO FOLKS STANDING UP FOR WHAT THEY BELIEVE IN AND STANDING FIRM, DESPITE BEING UNIVERSALLY REVILED!! We sure showed all those lib idiots who think they’re “all that” and that THEY rule the country, look again, guys, this is November staring you in the face!
(comment to my friend) Thank you, it was AWESOME!! I’ve been thinking about it, reading stuff all over the ‘net – it was like the main feeling was one of “release”, standing up, fighting back, (but not nasty, smiles and laughter all around), letting loose of our incredible frustration of being crushed by the lib tyranny! We stood up, got counted, (not literally, but you know what I mean) and said, “Hey libs, sit on THIS and spin!” It was like a breath of fresh air. “I’m a Christian, hear me roar!” Looking at all these pics and comments, it was like we could’ve danced on air, for being let free!

  8. Thank you Dr. Eowyn for putting up this most important post! Just as I am typing this communication, my husband is still in the drive-through lane waiting to order our meal to support this wonderful restaurant establishment and their courageous CEO. My husband arrived at 4:40 p.m. and it is now 6:10 p.m. He said that there are so many people that it required a police officer to direct traffic. The police officer spoke with my husband who told the officer that he was there to show support for Chick-fil-A for their support of the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman. The police officer had to direct my husband’s path because there was a large truck that was causing problems with traffic. Next door to Chick-fil-A is Applebee’s. My husband watched two lady military personnel in uniforms park at Applebee’s. They then headed towards Chick-fil-A and were told by a staff member of Applebee’s that they could not park in Applebee’s parking lot. My husband told this employee at Applebee’s that these ladies are veterans and that out of respect for them, that Applebee’s should allow them to park in their lot. The Applebee’s employee told my husband that “he doesn’t make the rules.” Applebee’s has continued to enforce their no parking policy not allowing people to park there during this event. My husband just called me and told me that Chick-fil-A employees are providing water to the people because it is so hot here. He said that everybody looks happy and that there are all kinds of people there, white, black, Hispanic, et al. It is now 6:25 p.m. and he is getting much closer to ordering and he said that this is “quite an event.” WE AMERICANS ARE SICK AND TIRED OF LEFTIST LIBERAL DEMOCRAT demonic immorality being forced upon us! AMERICANS MUST SHOW ON NOVEMBER 6TH BY VOTING AGAINST KING OBAMA THAT WE ARE STILL A COUNTRY UNDER GOD, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!
My husband also said that there are protesters on the lawn of Chick-fil-A who are eating Kentucky Fried Chicken. I tried to reach Kentucky Fried Chicken to see if they know what is happening. On the first call, I asked to speak to the manager and was put on hold for 20 minutes; so, I hung up. I have been trying ever since to get through and the line has been busy. Most probably other people have the same mindset and are trying to get through to KFC as well.
It is now 6:35 p.m. and my husband is finally ordering our meal! God bless the CEO, the Board, and the employees of Chick-fil-A! They will get our business in the future!

  9. Freedom rules, leftists drool!

  10. I’m so proud of my country today!!!!

  11. My grandson & I ate at the Chick-Fil-A in Wilson, NC today, I have never seen them as busy as they were today! We went around 3 PM, usually a slow time.

BTW, I went by a couple of CFAs today, but I just didn’t have the time to wait in line for two hours.

  13. My wife and I went through the drive thru at the Garner, NC Chick-Fil-A for dinner this evening it took about 45mins but it was well worth it. They were very organized and they all (employees and other customers alike) were courteous and considerate, and even with making a single lane drive thru into a double lane due to the customer volume, everything went smoothly.
An extra bonus was a rainbow, courtesy of our Lord after a brief rainstorm, that framed the building,I tried to take a picture with my phone but I couldn’t get a very clear picture of it from our car.
I heard that the queers were going to make fools of themselves and stage kissing and other public displays of affection (yuck) on Friday at Chick-Fil-A’s. I told my wife that they should take a three day weekend to thank their employees for all their hard work this week and (I hope) record sales and profits.

    • The rainbow is an awesome thing, knowing God set it in the clouds as a COVENANT w/ HIS people, how many thousands of years ago, that He never would destroy them again, (by water anyway). It’s just such a defining statement from God “This rainbow is MINE, it does NOT belong to perverts and those I have made My laws against!” Awesome story!

  14. Was going to go for lunch but helped out a neighbor with her kiddos today & didn’t have enough seat belts in our car to bring them. I just got back from taking (trying to anyway) my two kids there for dinner and they were out of food!!! Like completely! They had staff standing out there at the entrance to let folks know that there was not a scrap left! Amazing and awesome!!!! My hubby went there on his lunch break – a different location and said they waited for an hour and that the lines were wrapped around the building multiple times for eat-in and drive through. Way to go folks!!!

  15. You can find mine on twitter @myfoxmystere. I had breakfast at one in Long Beach California, Lunch at the Santa Ana California CFA…both were drive in orders, and I plan to have dinner at a third location…most likely in Cerritos California. I sent the tweets to @MyFoxTampaBay on twitter. The Tampa Bay Florida FOX TV station asked for pictures.

  16. Went for lunch to the Chick-fil-A in Valrico FL. Hundreds of people there, long lines in the drive through and police directing traffic. Inside packed like sardines but everyone patient and in an upbeat mood. Staff working very hard to take care of everyone…they all did a fantastic job.

  17. Hubby came home and told me that the other two CFA’s that he also tried to go to on his way home were sold out as well! We are in the burbs west of Phoenix.

The line of cars went on forever – for HOURS, here in Guntersville, AL! And I saw dozens of people parking better than a block away and walking to Chic-fil-a as I, also, walked to and from the store!

    • winstonsmith6079

I forgot to mention that there was a traffic control sign in the Chic-fil-a parking lot that seemed quite appropriate: “Right turn only”!

  19. BTW, did anyone see the Wendy’s that put on their marci that they support/agree with chik-fil-a? I think it was someplace in the southeast. I think it was posted on the Conservative Treehouse blog. I will try to post the link, but maybe those of ya’ll in the south can support this Wendy’s owner 🙂

    • Today Wendy’s tweeted, “We serve ALL customers”, implying Chick- fil-a discriminates against whom they serve. Wendy’s had to re-tract that tweet.

  20. That’s a bummer. I saw the initial signs about supporting CFA…didn’t know that they caved 🙁

  21. I went to a Chick-fil-A in Davenport, Iowa. It was packed. The drive thru was going non stop and cars were lined up to get in to the parking lot. Many waited in line. The employees were great considering the pace they were working. There are 3 Chick-fil-As in our area. Two in Davenport and one in Moline, Il. According to the news they were all packed with long lines. We are lucky that we have 3 of these wonderful facilities so our waits were less than an hour but I understand that some Chick-fil-A customers in other cities waited for an hour or more. When I saw all the families and happy customers I felt there was still hope for America. The food and service are top notch so I will go out of my way to eat there often.

  22. Chick-Fil-A always seems to be doing good business. They could be a model for fast food -and other restaurants -regarding their cleanliness, clean cut & well mannered employees, great fresh food at a good value, and great service!
I truly hope that after the Aug. 1 awesome show of support , that people will continue to show their ongoing support.
If only the gay community would practice the same tolerance of other’s beliefs as they demand for themselves, perhaps we could all get along—.
And , byw-not all gays subscribe to the tactics of the leftist militant types that cause even more resentment and greater divisions.

  23. Temps were soaring well over 95F in downtown Cleveland, Tennessee yesterday, yet well after 2 PM there still was a long line waiting outside the doors of Chick-Fil-A! Police were in the lot and in the adjoining streets, coordinating traffic — WOW!
A photo from inside that Chick-Fil-A, courtesy of Jessie E:
    https://foursquare.com/v/chickfila/4b7d7942f964a520d0c02fe3
From our car, it looked like everyone waiting was smiling despite the hot sun…and I’d like to think that the Son was smiling, seeing folks here and at countless other CFAs showing their love and support for a business with unwavering, godly principles.
On the sidewalk in front of this location on super-busy Keith Street was a man holding a cross emblazoned with Scripture about Jesus dying for our sins; we smiled at him and gave him thumbs-up.
We’d indeed planned to have lunch there, but we had two more stops then a 90-minute drive home to a Timex-tummy cat in North Georgia who expected *his* meal, so we had a quick lunch at McDs down the road.
Chick-Fil-A was the talk of the town at all the Christian-ministry thrift stores we visited. I want to believe that this nationwide response — along with other indicators — shows renewed promise for our upcoming election.
    God is in control!

  24. I just uploaded 5 photos taken by FOTM reader Robert. Scroll up to end of my post! 😀

  25. How come the liberals didn’t boycott Obama when he was against gay marriage?

  26. I made my hajj to Chick-Fil-A in Houma, Louisiana at 4pm (figured it would be less crowed, and it was, but still very busy) This CFA has always been fast and courteous. When I got there, there were 7 cars in front of me, and I was served within 15 mins. I asked the girl at the window, if they had been busy. She looked and puffed her checks up and blew out her breath…
It was an honor to be a part of this demonstration of Americans, showing “We will not take it any more”…

  27. I tried eat at Chic Fil A yesterday. They were sold out of EVERYTHING! There was an employee standing at the door handing out coupons for a free chicken sandwich to all the would-be customers who could not be served because they had nothing left! How great is that?!
