Dept of Education Buys Shotguns

Soldier with Remington 870 shotgun

Why is the U. S. Department of Education buying 27 shotguns? To shoot any student caught reading a Glenn Beck book or listening to Rush Limbaugh or accessing the Drudge Report? LOL
-Steve

The U.S. Department of Education (ED) intends to purchase twenty-seven (27) REMINGTON BRAND MODEL 870 (POLICE 12/14P MOD GRWC XS4 KXCS SF. RAMAC #24587 GAUGE: 12 BARREL: 14″ – PARKERIZED CHOKE: MODIFIED SIGHTS: GHOST RING REAR WILSON COMBAT; FRONT – XS CONTOUR BEAD SIGHT STOCK: KNOXX REDUCE RECOIL ADJUSTABLE STOCK FORE-END: SPEEDFEED SPORT-SOLID – 14″ LOP) shotguns.
These shotguns are designated as the only shotguns authorized for ED based on compatibility with ED existing shotgun inventory, certified armor and combat training and protocol, maintenance, and parts.
The required date of delivery is March 22, 2010. [Source]

From the information above, we know that the 27 new shotguns will join an already existing cache (“inventory”) of other shotguns! How many shotguns does the Dept of Ed has in total? What other weaponry is in the Dept’s arsenal? Most importantly, why does the Dept of Education have this “inventory” in the first place?
I hope some enterprising journalist look into this!

One thing to note is that in the original notice that was posted for the purchase, the delivery address for the shotguns was in Chicago, to a “Special Agent” of the Inspector General. So apparently the inspector general’s office of the Department of Education has Special Agents that require assault shotguns. https://www.fbo.gov/index?s=opportunity&mode=form&id=cb68cf9f3fa2fe18a83d1c3dee0039b2&tab=core&_cview=0 And yes I do mean “assault” shotguns. If you read the specs, these are custom built (not off the shelf) shotguns with 14″ barrels and special recoil absorbing stocks. The shotgun setup described in the solicitation are designed for one thing only, what SWAT refers to as “dynamic… Read more »

I don’t even believe IRS agents should be armed, so you can imagine what I think of Dept. of Educations goons being armed.
As Iasked over at my blog earlier, I wonder if this is to intimidate all those home-schoolers out there when the government decides they are resisting unduly?
BTW: The IRS ordered up a bunch of shotguns just recently.
America is turning into a police state right before our eyes.

Well, I would suggest that all citizens go out and buy a shotgun, or two. I did!
