David Brooks writes an opinion column for the New York Times and is on PBS’ Lehrer Show every Friday. He insists he’s a conservative, but in the 2008 election he dumped on McCain-Palin and lauded Obama.
If you have any remaining doubt that (a) Brooks is NOT conservative; and (b) he is barking mad, here’s the definitive proof. In his op/ed yesterday, he wrote this about Obama (I’ve underlined the especially hilarious words):
In many ways, Barack Obama has lived up to his promise. He has created a thoughtful, pragmatic administration marked by a culture of honest and vigorous debate. When Obama makes a decision, you can be sure that he has heard and accounted for every opposing argument. If he senses an important viewpoint is not represented at a meeting, he will stop the proceedings and demand that it gets included. If the evidence leads him in directions he finds uncomfortable, he will still follow the evidence. He is beholden to no ideological camp…
Even before his turncoat performance in the ’08 election, I had found Brooks and his gap-toothiness annoying. After ’08, I absolutely loath this man. His political judgment is so ridiculous and incredible, I now dismiss him as nothing other than a sycophantic clown.
