COVID-19 stimulus check: Check your payment status here

Are you eligible to receive the recently-approved second round of COVID-19 Economic Impact (“stimulus”) payment?

Want to find out the status of your payment?

You can go to the IRS webpage here:

  • Scroll down to “Check the Status of Your Economic Impact Payments
  • Click “Get My Payment”
  • You’ll be asked to enter your name, Social Security number, birth date, and address.

UPDATE (Jan. 7, 2021):

If you get the message “Payment Status #2 – Not Available”, that means you will not receive a second stimulus check automatically. You’ll have to wait until you file your 2020 taxes to get the second stimulus payment, even if  you had received the first stimulus check with no issues.

An IRS spokesman said: “The IRS advises people that if they don’t receive their Economic Impact Payment, they should file their 2020 tax return electronically and claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on their tax return to get their payment and any refund as quickly as possible.”

The spokesman did not explain why this is the case or why the issue seemed to affect those who had filed their 2019 taxes through H&R Block and TurboTax in particular. (CNBC)

I love the cartoon. When I tried to enter my information–I got a message that ” I was not authorized to use this system. Does anyone know what that is about?

I tried the system again–this time it says “Status not Available.” I will just wait until I file my taxes to address this.
At least I felt better than getting the response “Not authorized to use this system.”

I got mine direct deposited yesterday. Last year, I got a check. This time, I guess they used the bank account info off my return when I filed for last year’s refund.
