Common Core: Wrong answer is fine – just explain how you got there

From the Common Core web site:

The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers.

Yeah, not so much…

I love the comment from the You Tube site:

I am a Marine Corps instructor, we teach that failure is not an option. If they make a mathematical mistake and call in supporting fire on friendlies that’s ok as long as they can explain how they came up with their WRONG answer and why Marines are dead.

Now you understand why our educational system is so messed up, and why it costs more than it needs to. This kind of convoluted teaching is so wrong it makes my head feels like exploding

“Common Core” the communist blueprint for education. Please get into your schools and find out what the hek your child is being taught. Is it truth? Teachers are denying that they are teaching this crap. They are being given the CC,and told they can teach it any way they want. It must be stopped.

Here’s another thing they don’t tell you about common (rotten) core: when they mention college, they really mean community college. I wonder how many students will have learned enough to even be admitted into a community college. They wouldn’t be able to pass the SAT (or any other type of entrance exam). They will come out of high school completely incompetent. This is all part of Agenda 21. Robots are going to replace low skill jobs. Sounds bleak, but this is the reality we are all facing. I guess there will be jobs created in the field of robot repair… Read more »

To a very limited degree I can see the reasoning behind this … but I can also see how yet another very important lesson has been perverted under some bizarre guise that I do not pretend to understand. The process or theory here is critical thought which is relevant and important to success. In the military when leading patrols, I made the call based on the facts at hand and it may have been the right call and it may have been the wrong call but I made a call when not making any decision would have resulted in substantially… Read more »

The California Highway Patrol simply states that “There are no accidents.” Period, for if one looks deeply enough, the ground cause will be found.

You people are all lunatics. At least do some research before you spout your bs. The common cope is not a lesson plan or anything like that. It sets way points and goals that a child must meet by a certain time in the curriculum, like they must know how to do addition by such and such date. I am a senior in high school and was never taught using common core, as it only applies to elementary students, but I can easily say that this is exactly how math is taught in high school and college. Points are awarded… Read more »

“You people are all lunatics” “spout your bs” “but my god you are some right wing lunatics.”

High school clearly has not taught you manners, “D” (real name Douglas Wessells) in Beacon, New York. You’re a waste of taxpayer money.
