Obama warns 2020 democrat candidates about leaning too far left

Too late.

From Yahoo: Former President Barack Obama offered an unusual warning to the Democratic primary field Friday evening, cautioning the candidates not to move too far to the left in their policy proposals, even as he sought to reassure a party establishment worried about the electoral strength of their historically large primary field.

Speaking before a room of wealthy liberal donors, Obama urged Democrats to remember the long, combative slog of his primary campaign against Hillary Clinton in 2008, arguing that the 16-month battle ultimately made him a stronger general election candidate.

“For those who get stressed about robust primaries, I just have to remind you I had a very robust primary,” he told the group of several hundred donors and organizational leaders in Washington. “I’m confident that at the end of the process we will have a candidate that has been tested.”

Yet, he also raised concerns about some of the liberal ideas being promoted by some candidates, citing health care and immigration as issues where the proposals may have gone further than public opinion.

While Obama did not single out any specific primary candidate or policy proposal, he cautioned that the universe of voters that could support a Democratic candidate — Democrats, independents and moderate Republicans — are not driven by the same views reflected on “certain left-leaning Twitter feeds” or “the activist wing of our party.”

“Even as we push the envelope and we are bold in our vision, we also have to be rooted in reality,” Obama said. “The average American doesn’t think we have to completely tear down the system and remake it.”

Colorado governor signs law that gives state’s electoral votes to national popular vote winner

Over two years later, butt hurt from Hillary’s loss still alive and well.

From MSN (via CNN): Colorado could be part of voting history next general election day, joining 11 other states looking to ensure that their electoral college votes echo the will of the American majority to elect the next president.

Gov. Jared Polis (demorat) signed a law Friday that would allot the state’s electoral college votes to whichever candidate won the national popular vote. The Washington Post previously reported the law’s signing.

The trend comes as Americans have shown greater support in recent years for a more democratic presidential election process, without the translational risks of the electoral college. But the daunting requirement of changing the Constitution, where the electoral college is formally codified, has posed a challenge to both public and political support for the issue.

The state’s legislation would only take effect if enough other states sign on to secure the cumulative 270 electors needed to elect a president, and Colorado’s votes raise the current total to 181 electors. Most states have winner-take-all laws in place dictating that their electors go towards whichever candidate takes the state’s popular majority, while Maine and Nebraska opt to proportionally split their electors based on the vote.

The eleven other states that have signed on — California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington state — as well as the District of Columbia and now Colorado, make up the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. New Mexico, which has five electoral votes, sent a bill to the governor’s desk to elect the president by popular vote and may soon join the group as well.

And the electoral college had been contentious not long ago. In 2016, President Donald Trump won the presidential vote with 306 electoral votes to Hillary Clinton’s 232 votes. But Clinton won the popular vote, garnering 48.5% of the vote to Trump’s 46.4%.

Trump officially voted President!

A few minutes ago, the Electoral College votes for Donald Trump went over the 270 needed to a total of 304 (vs. 224 for Hillary)!
Donald Trump is officially elected the 45th President of the United States of America.
dancingbanana Carrot Chilli Muffin PurpleBanana Pineapple Strawberry
Despite all the death threats and harassing/intimidating phone calls and emails directed at Republican Electors (Pennsylvanian Electors even had police protection and escort); despite the unprecedented video of idiotic Hollyweirdos, led by Martin Sheen, asking Electors not to vote for Trump; despite murmurs of bribes, the Electors stood firm and voted in accordance with how the residents of their respective states had voted.
Thank you, Electors!
Not a single GOP Elector buckled under the pressure and voted for Hillary, although one voted for Ron Paul (who is not on the ballot), and another for John Kasich. Both are Texas electors.
7 Democrat Electors went rogue by not casting their votes for Hillary as they were supposed to:

  • In Colorado, a Democrat elector tried to vote for John Kasich and was replaced by an alternate elector, who voted for Hillary because state law requires electors to vote for the winner of the state’s popular vote. (NPR)
  • In Maine, a Democratic elector voted for Bernie Sanders instead of Clinton. He was ruled “out of order,” and he voted for Clinton in a second vote.
  • In Minnesota, Muhammad Abdurrahman, a former Bernie Sanders delegate to the Democratic National Convention, attempted to vote for no candidate. His vote was declared invalid and an alternate elector was appointed, enabling the state to go ahead and deliver its 10 electoral votes for Hillary Clinton. (The Hill)
  • In Washington, while 8 of the state’s 12 electors voted for Clinton, 4 electors went rogue, 2 of whom voted for Colin Powell, and 2 for Faith Spotted Eagle — a Native American who has been active in the Dakota pipeline protests. (ZeroHedge)

We can expect more shenanigans from Democrats in the month until inauguration. But their bag of tricks is rapidly depleting, and We The People will expose and call them on their chicanery every step of the way.
Hillary Clinton, a truly evil woman, will never be POTUS!
The countdown begins! Let’s Make America Great Again!

Electoral College vote – Open Thread

270 Electoral College votes are needed to win.
Some time before 6 pm ET, the tally was 304 Trump vs. 224 Clinton.
(Live vote tally here)

Donald Trump is officially the next POTUS!

So far, all of the electors in states who should vote for Trump, did so.
Electors who went rogue are Democrats:

(ZeroHedge)

Electoral College meets today: Meeting times & places of GOP Electors

Today, December 19, 2016, America’s Electoral College voters are scheduled to meet in their respective states to cast their votes for President of the United States of America.
Although the Electors are supposed to vote in accordance with the voters of their state, which means if their state voted for Donald Trump, the Electors should also cast their votes for Trump, at least one Republican Elector in Texas has made quite a name for himself by declaring he instead would vote for Hillary Clinton. See “Sole Republican elector who plans to vote against Trump is a 9/11 faker?“.

About That Underwater Drone Story

seawolf-submarine
Tell me if you see a pattern emerging.

The drone story is showing some slippery characteristics

NBC:
The incident follows a series of tense exchanges with China, including that nation’s sharp rebuke of president-elect Donald Trump’s phone call with Taiwan’s president in a departure from decades-long policy toward the island prefecture. – Read more
New York Times:
The incident complicates already testy relations between China and the United States, ties that have been further frayed by President-elect Donald J. Trump’s phone call with the president of Taiwan. Mr. Trump angered Chinese officials by holding a phone conversation with President Tsai Ing-wen of Taiwan, an island that Beijing deems a breakaway province of China. – Read more
USNews:
[READ: The Terrifying Military Weapons at Donald Trump’s Disposal]Some experts believe the move may have been in retaliation for President-elect Donald Trump’s phone call with the president of Taiwan, a breach of 40-years of protocol in how the U.S. manages its delicate diplomatic relationship with the economic powerhouse and its smaller island neighbor. – Read more

The incident has emerged as the latest thorn between China and the US, where President-elect Donald Trump has shown himself increasingly willing to confront and challenge Beijing. – Read more

Okay, here’s my take on the drone thing

Embedded a few paragraphs into each report is the comment questioning the safety of an America that has such a dangerous leader as the reckless Donald Trump. This is on the day of the last ditch effort to sway the votes of electors. It also begins years of hand wringing fear talk about the nut in the white house. If you are old enough to have voted for Ronald Reagan, you will recognize the strategy.
keep-the-drone
Donald’s response: “China can keep the drone.”
This president knows how to beat the media at their own game. After all the saber rattling, we read that the drone is about as classified as a weather balloon.

Sole Republican elector who plans to vote against Trump is a 9/11 faker?

Chris Suprun

Chris Suprun

From Daily Mail: The Republican elector from Texas who refuses to cast his vote for Donald Trump at the Electoral College wrongly claimed to be a first responder during the September 11 attacks.
Chris Suprun, a Texas elector, said he was one of the first on scene after a third plane flew into the Pentagon on 9/11. But in fact he was not employed as a firefighter at the Virginia department he often credits until a month after the attacks, according to an investigation by WFAA. The fire department did not even attend the Pentagon on 9/11.
Suprun portrayed himself as a heroic firefighter in a widely-shared editorial this month for The New York Times, in which he declared he would not be voting for Trump, calling him unqualified, unfit and ‘dismissive’ of his own conflicts of interest.
The 42-year-old, from Dallas, is the sole Republican to publicly announce his ballot would not be cast for the president-elect. He also co-signed a letter with nine Democratic electors which has been widely described as ‘bipartisan’ calling for briefings before the college voted from intelligence agencies on claims Russia hacked Hillary Clinton’s emails in an attempt to tip the election in Trump’s favor.
Suprun is just one of 38 electors in the Lone Star state, where Trump won by more than nine points.
chris-suprun
The faithless elector detailed his criticism of Trump in the Times, writing: ‘Fifteen years ago, as a firefighter, I was part of the response to the Sept. 11 attacks against our nation. That attack and this year’s election may seem unrelated, but for me the relationship becomes clearer every day.’
Suprun claimed to be a first responder with the Manassas Park, Virginia, fire department and has made at least two appearances at Major League Baseball games where he was introduced as a 9/11 veteran and threw out the first pitch. He also claims to have founded the nonprofit Never Forget, and says he is a licensed paramedic.
But a first responder who knows Suprun told WFAA a different story.
The responder, who spoke under anonymity, said: ‘He claimed to be a first responder with the Manassas Park [Virginia] Fire Department on September 11, 2001 and personally told us stories “I was fighting fire that day at the Pentagon”.
‘No, I was on a medic unit that day at the Pentagon and you make a phone call to Manassas Park and you find out that he wasn’t even employed there until October 2001.’ The City of Manassas Park confirmed that Suprun was hired on October 10, 2001, a month after the September 11 attacks.
The city’s fire chief told WFAA that the department never even responded to the Pentagon or other 9/11 sites.
‘It’s no different than stolen valor for the military; dressing up and saying “Hey, I earned a Purple Heart” when you weren’t even in combat,’ the first responder told WFAA. ‘There’s a big difference between shopping at Old Navy and being a Navy SEAL.’
In his editorial, Suprun credits former President George W Bush for leading the nation through 9/11 in his New York Times op-ed. ‘George W. Bush is an imperfect man, but he led us through the tragic days following the attacks,’ he writes. ‘His leadership showed that America was a great nation.
‘That was also the last time I remember the nation united. I watch Mr. Trump fail to unite America and drive a wedge between us. Mr. Trump goes out of his way to attack the cast of ‘Saturday Night Live’ for bias. He tweets day and night, but waited two days to offer sympathy to the Ohio State community after an attack there. He does not encourage civil discourse, but chooses to stoke fear and create outrage.”
‘This is unacceptable. For me, America is that shining city on a hill that Ronald Reagan envisioned. It has problems. It has challenges. These can be met and overcome just as our nation overcame Sept. 11.’
Read the rest of the story here.
Suprun has responded to the above story:
That story exhibits a reckless disregard for the truth,” Suprun wrote on Reddit of the WFAA piece. Noting that he had never claimed to be a first responder with Manassas Park, Suprun said at the time of the attacks he was a volunteer firefighter for the “Dale City Fire Dept.” and was later hired by Manassas Park. “We’ve corrected the record with the journalist who wrote that story, and if he has any integrity, he’ll reveal his anonymous sources and let everyone have open debate,” he wrote. “I know where I was on that tragic day.” Even if the debate takes place, the allegation that Suprun was less than truthful raises questions about how electors are chosen.

Former UK ambassador: Democrat whistleblowers leaked emails, not Russia

The “Russia intervened in 2016 election to favor Trump” conspiracy theory is the Democrats’ last-ditch effort to subvert the election by convincing the Electoral College to vote for Hillary next Monday. There’s even talk of redoing the presidential election itself.
Thus far, all we’ve heard and read is hearsay — by the Washington Post, by Obama, by this or that senator or congressman — that there is a secret CIA report on Russia’s nefarious role in the election in:

  1. Hacking the emails of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), Hillary Clinton, and her close associate, the very creepy John Podesta.
  2. Giving the hacked emails to unnamed “agents” who then supplied the emails to WikiLeaks to publish.

What the American people have not seen is the actual CIA report.
Stranger still is the fact that although several congressional committees are looking into the suspected Russian interference, U.S. intelligence agencies, including the CIA, refused a request to brief the House intelligence committee last Thursday (Dec. 15) on the cyber-attacks.
The legal dictionary defineshearsay” as “A statement made out of court that is offered in court as evidence to prove the truth of the matter asserted.” The dictionary further explains that:

the Hearsay Rule, as outlined in the Federal Rules of Evidence, prohibits most statements made outside a courtroom from being used as evidence in court. This is because statements made out of court normally are not made under oath, a judge or jury cannot personally observe the demeanor of someone who makes a statement outside the courtroom, and an opposing party cannot cross-examine such a declarant (the person making the statement). Out-of-court statements hinder the ability of the judge or jury to probe testimony for inaccuracies caused by ambiguity, insincerity, faulty perception, or erroneous memory. Thus, statements made out of court are perceived as untrustworthy.”

And yet we are to accept that on the basis of hearsay about some secret CIA report, which no court would consider as evidence, the Electoral College should overturn the results of the 2016 election by voting for Hillary Clinton as president, despite Donald Trump having attained a majority of Electoral votes of 306 vs. Hillary’s 232.
But we do have a first-person testimony that is not hearsay — from former British ambassador Craig Murray, who claims he had received Hillary Clinton campaign emails, not from Russia, but from “disgusted” Democrat whistleblowers.
craig-murray
Alana Goodman reports for the Daily Mail that in an interview with Dailymail.com on Dec. 13, 2016, Craig Murray, who is a close associate of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, said he had flown to Washington, D.C. in September 2016 for a clandestine hand-off with one of the email sources. Murray retrieved the package during a clandestine meeting in a wooded area near American University, in northwest D.C. The individual he met with was not the original person who obtained the information, but an intermediary.
Murray said:

“Neither of [the email leaks] came from the Russians. The source had legal access to the information. The documents came from [Democrat Party] inside leaks, not hacks.”

Murray said the leakers were motivated by “disgust at the corruption of the Clinton Foundation and the tilting of the primary election playing field against Bernie Sanders.” Murray declined to say where the sources worked and how they had access to the information, to shield their identities. He said that Podesta’s emails might be “of legitimate interest to the security services” in the U.S. due to his communications with Saudi Arabia lobbyists and foreign officials.
Murray said he was speaking out due to claims from CIA officials that Wikileaks was given the documents by Russian hackers as part of an effort to help Trump win the U.S. presidential election:

“I don’t understand why the CIA would say the information came from Russian hackers when they must know that isn’t true. Regardless of whether the Russians hacked into the DNC, the documents Wikileaks published did not come from that.”

Murray’s account cannot be independently verified but is in line with previous statements by Wikileaks:
seth-rich

  • In August 2016, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange intimated that DNC staffer Seth Rich was the source of the DNC emails. At about 4:19 a.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2016, 27 year-old Rich was shot and killed in the 2100 block of Flagler Place NW in Washington, DC. His murder remains unsolved to this day.
  • More recently in November in an interview with John Pilger, Assange said, “The Clinton camp has been able to project a neo-McCarthyist hysteria that Russia is responsible for everything. Hillary Clinton has stated multiple times, falsely, that 17 US intelligence agencies had assessed that Russia was the source of our publications. That’s false – we can say that the Russian government is not the source.”

Murray is a controversial figure who was removed from his post as a British ambassador amid allegations of misconduct. He was a vocal critic of human rights abuses in Uzbekistan while serving as ambassador between 2002 and 2004, a stance that pitted him against the UK Foreign Office. Murray was cleared of charges of misconduct, but left the diplomatic service in acrimony.
His links to Wikileaks are well known and while his account is likely to be seen as both unprovable and possibly biased, it is also the first intervention by Wikileaks since reports surfaced last week that the CIA believes Russia had hacked the Clinton emails to help hand the election to Donald Trump.
