Britain discovers test kits contaminated with covid-19

Who would think that a batch of covid-19 test kits would turn up contaminated with covid-19? Well, it’s happened. Great Britian  is the first to report contaminated test kits.  The story goes as follows.

Britain’s attempts to step up its testing for the novel coronavirus have suffered a setback after some key parts of the testing kits that were due to be imported were found to have been contaminated with the coronavirus. The Daily Telegraph reported that British labs have been told to expect a delay in the delivery some of the components of the kits after traces of the virus were detected on them. The British government has been criticized for its relatively low testing rates, which are way behind other wealthy nations like Germany, the United States, and South Korea. The government brought in foreign private firms to help produce thousands of kits, but it’s one of those suppliers—the Luxembourg-based firm Eurofins—that has told British labs that some of the components have been contaminated.

I wanted to remind people that when you get tested for covid-19, a swab is used to collect samples.  Besides being used to test for covid-19, these samples can be used to log your DNA  in a database.

Some DNA collecting uses a swab to collect samples  from the cheek, inside the mouth.

Covid-19 testing uses a swab to collect samples  from the upper nasal passage .   I’ve also seen where they  collect a second sample by using  a swab to collect samples from the cheek, inside the mouth.   The second sample is collected exactly like they collect samples for DNA test.

Why the second sample?

CDC provides the test kits for public health laboratories (PHLs) to perform real-time RT-polymerase chain reaction (rRT-PCR) detection of the SARS-CoV-2 virus (the virus that causes COVID-19) in respiratory specimens. CDC received Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on February 4, 2020 for use of this rRT-PCR test to detect the virus in upper and lower respiratory specimens.

More on this sourced  click here

I’m not saying your DNA is being collected and logged.  I’m saying it is a possibility.

If you think about it. What would be a better opportunity to collect DNA from people? Take that information and crosscheck it against a database of unsolved crimes,  missing persons or fugitives from justice that have changed their identities.  Maybe just keep it in a database for future use.

Covid-19 pandemic and testing opens the opportunity for conspiracies to thrive.  I can think of many.  One being DNA collecting, like I just described.  Another could be that they are using the nasal passage swab to insert a nano-microchip,  smart dust, nano-bot or self sustaining micro fibers.  Any one of these could be used for mind control. To take it a step further I would ask the question “If covid-19 is so contagious, why do they need 2 samples and why do they need a sample that’s buried deep in the back of your nasal passage?  Wouldn’t a saliva sample be sufficient?

Indeed, any of these is entirely possible.  A person has to be responsible when presenting these ideas.  Until factual evidence is provided a person should remember that these conspiracy theories are only theories.    Not proven to be true.  At least, not yet.  Question everything but stay grounded.

When it comes to “anything government”  I always remember that whenever I sign a waiver or release form I make sure I take the time to read every detail.   You never know what has been added to the release form or waiver.  Just like a bill in Congress, you could be signing away something that has nothing to do with what you are there for.

National Guardsman At NY Testing Center Says Media Has Overblown COVID19 Pandemic “It’s the Flu!”

When it comes to covid-19,  no matter how different our lives may be from one to another, all of us are in this together.  It’s important that we make it through this.   It’s important that something like this never happens again.  Before that happens we must know the truth.  How far are you willing to go to get it?

Video comes from Project Veritas.

In the video we watch  James O’Keefe as he goes to get a covid-19 test.  As to be expected, with the cameras rolling.  He comes across several men in the military that have control of the testing site.  Some of the soldiers claim covid-19 pandemic  is way overblown.  They say “It’s just the flu.”

That sounds about right.  This years  flu season  is supposed to one of the worst it has ever been.  According to CDC data, the P & I Mortality rate is 7.4.  this year.  That’s 1 point above epidemic.  But we don’t hear about it.

Covid-19 has the same symptoms and can be as destructive as Influenza(the flu).  Although they seem to be equally as dangerous, they are classified as to different types of viruses.

We are told that covid-19 may have come from bats.  I’ve not seen any evidence of coronavirus in bats.  For Influenza, I have.  “Bat Influenza“.

Bat flu refers to influenza A viruses found in bats. Bat flu was first discovered in “little yellow-shouldered bats” in Guatemala during a study conducted in 2009 and 2010 by experts from CDC and the Universidad del Valle (University of the Valley) in Guatemala (1). Bat flu viruses have since been detected in some other species of bats in Central and South America.

To read more from this source click here.

*2009 was the year of the Swine flu(H1N1) outbreak first discovered in Mexico city. It started in January 2009 and lasted until August 2010.

Testing of the bat flu virus’s genome suggests that its internal genes are compatible with human flu viruses, so CDC scientists cannot rule out the possibility of these viruses eventually becoming capable of infecting humans.

to read more from this source click here.

In order for the bat flu have an effect on humans we are told that it would have to passed on to an animal, and from that animal on to a human.  This is something that is plausible to happen in nature.  It’s also something that can happen in a lab.

Influenza A virus reservoirs in animals have provided novel genetic elements leading to the emergence of global pandemics in humans. Most influenza A viruses circulate in waterfowl, but those that infect mammalian hosts are thought to pose the greatest risk for zoonotic spread to humans and the generation of pandemic or panzootic viruses. We have identified an influenza A virus from little yellow-shouldered bats captured at two locations in Guatemala. It is significantly divergent from known influenza A viruses. The HA of the bat virus was estimated to have diverged at roughly the same time as the known subtypes of HA and was designated as H17. The neuraminidase (NA) gene is highly divergent from all known influenza NAs, and the internal genes from the bat virus diverged from those of known influenza A viruses before the estimated divergence of the known influenza A internal gene lineages. Attempts to propagate this virus in cell cultures and chicken embryos were unsuccessful, suggesting distinct requirements compared with known influenza viruses. Despite its divergence from known influenza A viruses, the bat virus is compatible for genetic exchange with human influenza viruses in human cells, suggesting the potential capability for reassortment and contributions to new pandemic or panzootic influenza A viruses.

to read more from this source click here.

That’s something to think about.

I’ve seen articles that reference this same information on bat influenza that I have provided today.  They imply  Covid-19 is a mutated version of bat influenza..  If that were the case then why do they call it a coronavirus instead of bat influenza?

Is the virus class “coronavirus” just a name for bio-engineered versions of  viruses like influenza?

I would like to say thanks to James O’Keefe and Project Veritas for the video.  Anyone that would like to get involved with Project Veritas (wear a hidden camera, research, tech support, whatever available)  click here

Please  let me know your thoughts on this.

How Fake News MSM and the democrats lied to you about covid-19 testing

I know this person who is in his late 60’s early 70’s age wise.  He has multiple health problems.  Yesterday he had a problem standing.  He fell down getting out of bed, sometime in the middle of the night.  His landlord/care giver felt it best that the guy went to the hospital to see what the problem was.  His landlord rents a room to him and felt the guy needed to spend some time in a convalescent home.

An ambulance arrives at the house and the ambulance driver doesn’t want to take the guy to the hospital.  He wants the landlord to take the guy.  I thought that was strange.  After a couple of minutes the ambulance driver ends up taking the guy to the hospital.

The guy gets to the hospital.    While checking in they tell him they want him to take a covid-19 test.  He has no symptoms of covid-19.  He shouldn’t.  He doesn’t go anywhere.  His landlord  is pretty much the same way ..   Besides not having any symptoms, that’s not what he’s there for.

The guy ends up having to take the test because the hospital said they were testing everyone that comes in. Pretty odd considering there is a “shortage” of available tests.

They give the guy a look over, the covid-19 test and tell him he need to wait 2 to 3 days for the test results..  Then the hospital sends him on his way to go home or where ever the guy felt like going.

The first thing I did was ask about the conditions about the hospital.  He said  “It was quiet, things were normal.  The tents outside were empty.”.

Then I thought about how testing was going to help slow covid-19 from spreading.  The 2 to 3 day wait is more than enough time to pass it on to several people.  Then I realized testing was a waste of time.  It’s all a scam job.

I’ve mentioned in the past about Presumptive Positive(PP) test.  For those that don’t remember, PP test are not confirmed. They are test waiting to be confirmed.  I knew this was a problem but was unable to put it completely together until the guy I know went to hospital  got tested.

Below, in the image you see screenshots of the most recent data the CDC has available on covid-19.  5 lines down it says “Data includes both confirmed and presumptive positive”.   They don’t provide a list of actual confirmed test separate from PP test.  They don’t provide a list of how many test comes up negative.  They are presenting the data as if every test, which includes PP tests as if they are positive.  They also don’t provided actual causes of death.  A person can be dying of cancer.  They test him for covid-19.  If he dies they put him on the list of covid-19 deaths.

If you take the test you are automatically classified as PP.

You might be thinking “What’s the big deal, people don’t feel good, they have the symptoms. Hospitals are only testing  people with symptoms and those lucky enough to get tested. The people getting tested probably have it”

This is where the person I know that got tested comes into play.

  1. He didn’t go in for a test.  He didn’t have the symptoms.
  2. The hospital made him test.
  3.  The hospital was testing every person that went there for help.
  4. .  All these test are considered PP.  These get reported to the CDC.
  5. The CDC reports them as positive and adds them to confirmed list

Consider the amount of people entering the hospitals each day.    In 2017, 139 million people made visits to the hospital.  If that were today, everyone would get tested for covid-19.  That’s 139 million PP tests.  CDC would publish it as 139 million cases of covid-19.

Because of this we can assume that every test is going to be considered PP, at the very minimum.  Every test is going to be reported as positive.  This is  why the more people that test, the higher the number of positive cases reported.  Every test is published  as positive by the CDC.  When  there are no test available then the amount of positive test declines.

In the image we can get a idea of how the number of reported positive tests increases and declines with the availability of tests.  We will see a huge increase in the immediate future when more test become available.

The states that had more test sent to them have the highest number of positive test.  You can see the surge in numbers after they took possession of the tests.

Let me finish this up by doing a quick breakdown of what has happened.  Quick generalization.  Many details left out.

  1. As soon as we learned about covid-19 was discovered on cruise ship returning to the USA.  democrats spent most of their time in a over site hearing complaining/predicting a covid-19 pandemic instead of asking questions related to the purpose of hearing.
  2. The Fake News MSM join in and start planting seeds and pushing the same  covid-19 pandemic garbage the democrats are pushing.
  3. Democrats demand that trump listen to the experts and let them handle the situation.  Fake News MSM does the same, backing up the democrats as always.  This was done to keep Trump from seeing the actual data on the web pages.  Trump does not have time to read everything.  He can only work with the information reported to him.  Dr. Fauci was Trump’s “go to” guy   He fed Trump partial information and  straightTout lies.  A distraction.  A traitor.
  4. While this is going on the Fake NEWS MSM is installing fear in the citizens of the USA.
  5. Democrats demand more test kits.  Andrew Cuomo , the loudest, demanding and receiving the most available tests kits.  Ventilators and masks are just part of the con.  Used to provoke fear and panic .  People think they need them to protect them form covid-19 .  Fake News MSM back democrats up on this creating panic.
  6. Pelosi, Cuomo, Dr. Fauci and various democrats, with the help of the Fake News MSM are telling lies, creating panic , creating the false need for the shutdown of the USA.  The covid-19 stimulus bill is a direct result of their deceitful behavior.   They take advantage of the situation and  include addons to the bill that support their agenda.  Addons that would never make it trough on their own.  They do this knowing they will get resistance.  Fully aware they will be able to get some through.
  7. Trump really has no choice but to sign the bill or democrats and Fake News MSM will accuse him of not wanting to help Americans.
  8. Democrats and the Fake News MSM are basically extorting America.  They continue to do it at this very moment.
  9. For the Democrats and the Fake News MSM. it’s Mission accomplished. Unfortunately for them, they got caught.

This is exactly what is going on.  Americans need to step up and do something, say something,  whatever.  Just do not continue to fall for this faux pandemic.  People need to support their president.  It’s far past time that the democrats and The Fake News MSM see justice.   This is an attack on every single American.  There should be no question that the democrats and the Fake News MSM are the enemy of America.

Every American should be angry.  I have reached my end. If I have to take up arms. If I have to give up all my possessions.   If we have a civil war.  If I fall and never get up again while fighting in this war. Any or all is fine by me. I will no longer put up with the lawless, back stabbing, anti American democrats and Fake News MSM.  They need to be taken down. Playtime is over. No Quarter

Some random thoughts about the rush to shutdown so many businesses in this country

Today at work since I had nothing to do, I started thinking about this pandemic and how quick it has been for local and state governments to shut down our economy and our freedoms.

(Side note: Our city building is closed to the public so it’s just employees. My boss is doing the AM shift and I’m working my regular afternoon shift so we aren’t in the office together. We are practicing that “social distancing.”)

Why is it NOW that we have had such a dramatic reaction to the Wuhan virus? Is it really going to be much worse than SARS, MERS or any other virus we’ve faced throughout the world? Are we going to end up with thousands of deaths like Italy? Has the media hysteria frightened people to panic?

I guess the “experts” know best by ordering “shelter in place” and the shutdown of thousands and thousands of businesses. Why can’t we just quarantine the most vulnerable (except the homeless and inmates, of course), postpone large public gatherings, and recommend some higher level of hygiene?

It is understandable that we need to be aware of the public’s safety and control this virus yet are we not a country with inherent freedoms such as economic pursuit and that of movement?

There’s risk and reward for living a life of freedom and I’m wondering if the risk of shutting down our economy is worth more than the anticipated reward (“flattening the curve”).

In America, you are free to pursue the job of your dreams or start your own business. Imagine the government comes in and demands to shut down your employer or business for public safety. You are now forcibly being robbed of your economic freedoms. Does that not make you some form of an economic slave of the government?

You can’t shut down businesses and expect them to re-open with their regular customers. Those customers have now lost their jobs and will not have any disposable income to spend once the economy is back open for business. That “social distancing” will be long gone when unemployment has reached massive levels.

The “shelter in place” order also has an effect on our freedom to move throughout this country. What will be the psychological and future effects on our interpretation of “freedom of movement” when this finally comes to an end? How many people will suffer depression during their self quarantine and end up costing thousands in the medical field or commit suicide?

I also believe this reaction sets a bad example for our enemies who want to inflict some form of bioterrorism upon us. They now know how easy it would be to cause a panic and economic shutdown of this country. Just. Like. That.

Just some of my random thoughts. There are many differing opinions as to how best to handle this and I am no expert on this, by any means. I just have a terrible feeling that the coming economic result of this is going to be devastating for many, many Americans. Only time will tell if the reaction offered more reward than risk.

Wuhan Coronavirus Pandemic (updated daily)

Dear friends:

There is so much news and information on this demon Wuhan virus, I decided the best thing to do is this page with links to sources, instead of writing individual posts.

This page contains two groups of news/information:

  1. A list of already-published FOTM posts on the virus.
  2. A list of other news, research and information on the virus from outside (non-FOTM) sources.

Links will continuously be added to both groups, with the newest links added to the bottom of each list. Just click the blue-colored embedded links and you’ll be brought to the source. I invite my fellow FOTM writers to add links to this page as well, including links to your virus-related posts.

This page will have a “sticky,” which means it will be the first post you see when you access FOTM‘s home page. I suggest you bookmark this page.

Please pray for President Trump, for America, and for each other,

~Eowyn

Wednesday Funnies! – and the coronavirus hysteria

I got a text this morning from a friend who says she’s self-quarantining herself (14 days) because yesterday while shopping in Costco, a woman “coughed on” her. My friend lives in a city with just one confirmed case of COVID-19 — a middle-aged man who recently returned from Italy.

Such is the media-driven hysteria about the COVID-19 coronavirus.

While Americans are driven into a panic about coronavirus, here are some funnies to release your stress and tension!

P.S. This is what I texted back to my self-quarantined friend:

You have given into the media-driven hysteria. The CDC recommends self-quarantine only if (a) you have symptomatic laboratory-confirmed COVID-19; or (b) you are under investigation for having COVID-19. See CDC’s Q&A on coronavirus/COVID-19.

Some points:

  1. Your city has only one confirmed case of COVID-19, so the probability of coughing woman having it is low.
  2. Did coughing woman display other symptoms of COVID-19 such as shortness of breath/difficulty breathing?
  3. Was her cough dry or wet (with mucous discharge)? If wet then it’s likely not COVID-19.
  4. Did you touch your face or mouth after being coughed on?
  5. Did you wash your hands or wipe them with an antibacterial alcohol-based hand sanitizer?

Here are the symptoms of COVID-19 (CDC):

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and dry cough. Some patients may have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually. Some people become infected but don’t develop any symptoms and don’t feel unwell. Most people (about 80%) recover from the disease without needing special treatment. Around 1 out of every 6 people who gets COVID-19 becomes seriously ill and develops difficulty breathing. Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like high blood pressure, heart problems or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness. People with fever, cough and difficulty breathing should seek medical attention.

What President Trump is doing about the coronavirus epidemic

While Democrats and the complicit media carp and use the coronavirus as a weapon to take down President Trump, this is what his administration is doing about the epidemic.

Shockingly, I couldn’t find a list of what Trump has done, not even on the WhiteHouse.gov website. I compiled the following list from searching online:

(1) On January 29, 2020, President Trump donated his paychecks from the last quarter of 2019, totaling $100,000, entirely to combating coronavirus.

(2) On January 31, 2020, President Trump issued an order banning foreign nationals (other than immediate family of U.S. citizens and permanent residents) who have traveled in China in the last 14 days from entering the United States. American citizens returning the U.S. from areas in China, such as the epicenter Wuhan, where they may have been exposed to the virus will be quarantined, while those coming from the rest of China will be screened for the virus. (Western Journal)

(3) On February 6, 2020, the Department of Defense announced in a press release that in addition to five locations already providing housing to quarantined Americans who have fled Wuhan and Hubei province in China where the virus originated, the DOD identified nine other military installations that can provide housing for quarantined passengers traveling to the U.S. through 11 major airports screening for the coronavirus from China. (Military Times)

(4) On Februry 6, 2020, The White House asked U.S. scientists and medical researchers to investigate the scientific origins of the novel coronavirus, including whether it was engineered as a bio-weapon. (ABC News)

(5) Trump had barred Americans on the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan who had tested positive for coronavirus from returning to the Unites States. On February 22, 2020, however, Trump was taken by surprise and reportedly “furious” that a State Department official in JapanIan Brownlee, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, Bureau of Consular Affairs — overrode the president’s directive by allowing the 14 infected Americans to return to the U.S. (New York Times)

(6) On February 25, 2020, President Trump asked Congress for $2.5 billion — half new money, half repurposed from other efforts — to battle the spread of the coronavirus. According to a person familiar with the matter, more than $1 billion of the money would be dedicated to creating a vaccine; other parts of the request would be put toward stockpiling protective masks and therapeutic programs. Democrats rejected the request, saying existing money shouldn’t be used to fight the coronavirus, and pledged a funding package of their own. (Bloomberg)

(7) On February 26, 2020, President Trump addressed the nation about coronavirus and appointed Vice President Mike Pence to lead a task force to combat the spread of the coronavirus. (Politico)

(8) On March 5, 2020, VP Pence said the coronavirus test is eligible for coverage and treatment under Medicare and Medicaid as an “essential health benefit” and will also be covered by all private insurance. In addition, all 8,000 inspectors at Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will focus their inspection efforts at nursing homes nationwide “to ensure seniors at nursing homes are as safe as possible from the spread of the coronavirus.” Seniors — those age 60 and over — are most vulnerable to this coronavirus. (Med Page Today)

(9) On March 6, 2020, President Trump signed an $8.3 billion funding bill to combat coronavirus and support local responders.

(10) On March 10, 2020, Trump and Pence met with executives from America’s largest health insurance companies and secured their agreement to waive all copays on coronavirus testing and extend coverage for coronavirus treatment in all of their benefit plans. The private insurersalso agreed to cover telemedicine services, which will allow all patients—particularly among the vulnerable senior population—to be treated without feeling the need to go to a hospital or doctor’s office.

(11) On March 10, 2020, President Trump proposed to Congress an economic stimulus plan of small business loans and payroll tax cuts of a 0% payroll tax rate to ensure workers are “not going to miss a paycheck” and “get penalized for something [coronavirus] that’s not their fault”. But his proposal was met with bipartisan resistance. (Houston Chronicle)

Use some common sense: Dr. Drew and Dr. Oz Rip Media for Coronavirus Panic

Good advice. One the DNC-controlled media will completely ignore.

Coronavirus precautions you should take from a medical doctor- virologist

Coronaviruses are a group of viruses that cause diseases in mammals (including bats) and birds. In humans, coronaviruses cause respiratory tract infections that are typically mild, such as the common cold, but rarer forms such as SARS, MERS, and COVID-19 can be lethal.

The name coronavirus is derived from the Latin corona, meaning “crown” or “halo”, which refers to the virus particles (virions) having a fringe reminiscent of a crown or of a solar corona.

According to the CDC, in rare cases, animal coronaviruses can infect people and then spread between people. Three examples are MERS-CoV, SARS-CoV, and a new coronavirus, named SARS-CoV-2. The disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 is named “coronavirus disease 2019” (abbreviated “COVID-19”).

All three of these animal-to-people coronaviruses have their origins in bats. Many of the earliest patients at the epicenter of the outbreak in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China had some link to a large seafood and live animal market, suggesting animal-to-person spread, which then became person-to-person.

As of yesterday, March 2, 2020, the CDC says in the United States there are 43 confirmed cases of COVID-19; 17 hospitalized; 2 deaths; and 10 states reporting cases (Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington, Wisconsin).

James Robb, M.D., F.C.A.P. (Fellow of the College of American Pathologists), is a consulting pathologist to the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the Office of Biorepositories and Biospecimen Research (OBBR), and is also the Leader of the cancer Human Biobank (caHUB) Biospecimens Subgroup, Latin America Cancer Research Network (LACRN) Pathology Committee, and National Community Cancer Centers Biospecimens (NCCCP) Pillar. He also serves on the Board of Governors of the College of American Pathologists (CAP). Dr. Robb’s research interests include molecular oncologic and neurotropic virology.

In other words, Dr. Robb is a virologist — a molecular biologist who specializes in virology, the study of viruses and viral diseases. The coronavirus (COVID-19) is a virus. More than that, Dr. Robb was one of the first molecular virologists in the world to work on coronaviruses in the 1970s.

Below is an email from Dr. Robb on the coronavirus precautions we should take (source: Eat This, Not That!, among many other websites):

When I was a professor of pathology at the University of California San Diego, I was one of the first molecular virologists in the world to work on coronaviruses (the 1970s). I was the first to demonstrate the number of genes the virus contained. Since then, I have kept up with the coronavirus field and its multiple clinical transfers into the human population (e.g., SARS, MERS), from different animal sources.

The current projections for its expansion in the US are only probable, due to continued insufficient worldwide data, but it is most likely to be widespread in the US by mid to late March and April. Here is what I have done and the precautions that I take and will take. These are the same precautions I currently use during our influenza seasons, except for the mask and gloves.

(1) No Handshaking: Use a fist bump, slight bow, elbow bump, etc.

(2) Use only your knuckle: …to touch light switches. elevator buttons, etc.. Lift the gasoline dispenser with a paper towel or use a disposable glove.

(3) Open doors with your closed fist or hip: Do not grasp the handle with your hand, unless there is no other way to open the door. Especially important on bathroom and post office/commercial doors.

(4) Use disinfectant wipes: …at the stores when they are available, including wiping the handle and child seat in grocery carts.

(5) Wash your hands with soap: …for 10-20 seconds and/or use a greater than 60% alcohol-based hand sanitizer whenever you return home from any activity that involves locations where other people have been.

(6) Keep a bottle of hand sanitizer: …available at each of your home’s entrances. And in your car for use after getting gas or touching other contaminated objects when you can’t immediately wash your hands.

(7) Cough or sneeze into a disposable tissue: …and discard. Use your elbow only if you have to. The clothing on your elbow will contain an infectious virus that can be passed on for up to a week or more!

(8) Use latex or nitrile latex disposable gloves: …for use when going shopping, using the gasoline pump, and all other outside activity when you come in contact with contaminated areas. Note: This virus is spread in large droplets by coughing and sneezing. This means that the air will not infect you! But all the surfaces where these droplets land on are infectious for about a week on average—everything that is associated with infected people will be contaminated and potentially infectious. The virus is on surfaces and you will not be infected unless your unprotected face is directly coughed or sneezed upon. This virus only has cell receptors for lung cells (it only infects your lungs). The only way for the virus to infect you is through your nose or mouth via your hands or an infected cough or sneeze onto or into your nose or mouth.

(9) Stock up now on disposable surgical masks: …and use them to prevent you from touching your nose and/or mouth. (We touch our nose/mouth 90 times a day without knowing it!) This is the only way this virus can infect you—it is lung-specific. The mask will not prevent the virus in a direct sneeze from getting into your nose or mouth—it is only to keep you from touching your nose or mouth.

(10) Stock up now on hand sanitzers: …and latex/nitrile gloves (get the appropriate sizes for your family). The hand sanitizers must be alcohol-based and greater than 60% alcohol to be effective.

(11) Stock up now with zinc lozenges: These lozenges have been proven to be effective in blocking coronavirus (and most other viruses) from multiplying in your throat and nasopharynx. Use as directed several times each day when you begin to feel any “cold-like” symptoms beginning. It is best to lie down and let the lozenge dissolve in the back of your throat and nasopharynx. Cold-Eeze lozenges is one brand available, but there are other brands available.

A final word: I, as many others do, hope that this pandemic will be reasonably contained, but I personally do not think it will be. Humans have never seen this snake-associated virus before and have no internal defense against it. Tremendous worldwide efforts are being made to understand the molecular and clinical virology of this virus. Unbelievable molecular knowledge about the genomics, structure, and virulence of this virus has already been achieved. But there will be no drugs or vaccines available this year to protect us or limit the infection within us. Only symptomatic support is available.

I hope these personal thoughts will be helpful during this potentially catastrophic pandemic. Good luck to all of us!

AP’s fact-check shows Democrats lied about Trump administration’s coronavirus readiness

As Rush Limbaugh observed, Democrats have weaponized the coronavirus (Covid-19) in yet another effort to take down President Trump.

But even the Associated Press (AP) says Democrats are distorting the Trump administration’s coronovirus readiness.

From the AP, February 26, 2020:

Democratic presidential contenders are describing the federal infectious-disease bureaucracy as rudderless and ill-prepared for the coronavirus threat because of budget cuts and ham-handed leadership by President Donald Trump. That’s a distorted picture. For starters, Trump hasn’t succeeded in cutting the budget.

He’s proposed cuts but Congress ignored him and increased financing instead. The National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention aren’t suffering from budget cuts that never took effect.

A look at some of the Democrats’ remarks:

MIKE BLOOMBERG: “There’s nobody here to figure out what the hell we should be doing. And he’s defunded — he’s defunded Centers for Disease Control, CDC, so we don’t have the organization we need. This is a very serious thing.” — debate Tuesday night.

JOE BIDEN, comparing the Obama-Biden administration with now: “We increased the budget of the CDC. We increased the NIH budget. … He’s wiped all that out. … He cut the funding for the entire effort.”

THE FACTS: They’re both wrong to say the agencies have seen their money cut. Bloomberg is repeating the false allegation in a new ad that states the U.S. is unprepared for the virus because of “reckless cuts” to the CDC. Trump’s budgets have proposed cuts to public health, only to be overruled by Congress, where there’s strong bipartisan support for agencies such as the CDC and NIH. Instead, financing has increased.

Indeed, the money that government disease detectives first tapped to fight the latest outbreak was a congressional fund created for health emergencies.

Some public health experts say a bigger concern than White House budgets is the steady erosion of a CDC grant program for state and local public health emergency preparedness — the front lines in detecting and battling new disease. But that decline was set in motion by a congressional budget measure that predates Trump.

The broader point about there being “nobody here” to coordinate the response sells short what’s in place to handle an outbreak.

The public health system has a playbook to follow for pandemic preparation — regardless of who’s president or whether specific instructions are coming from the White House. Those plans were put into place in anticipation of another flu pandemic, but are designed to work for any respiratory-borne disease.

Among the health authorities overseeing the work are Dr. Anne Schuchat, CDC’s principal deputy director and a veteran of previous outbreaks, and Dr. Anthony Fauci, NIH’s infectious disease chief who has advised six presidents.

“The CDC’s response has been excellent, as it has been in the past,” said John Auerbach, president of the nonpartisan Trust for America’s Health, which works with government at all levels to improve the nation’s response to high-risk health crises. Some Democrats have charged that Trump decimated the nation’s public health leadership, but Auerbach said CDC’s top scientific ranks have remained stable during the past three years….

The U.S. closed borders to travelers from China to buy time as preparations began but, “classically that’s not the way you address an outbreak,” Fauci told The Associated Press this week. “If you do it for a very limited period of time, temporarily until you can get things in order in your own country, it could have some benefit. But in general, the concept of closing borders, you cannot do that for an extended period of time.”

But with infections now in much of the world, one of the questions for U.S. policymakers is whether it’s time to modify any of those border or travel restrictions.
