## The Tax System Explained in Beer

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to \$100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this…
The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing The fifth would pay \$1 The sixth would pay \$3 The seventh would pay \$7 The eighth would pay \$12 The ninth would pay \$18 The tenth man (the richest) would pay \$59.
So, that’s what they decided to do.
The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve ball. “Since you are all such good customers,” he said, “I’m going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by \$20″. Drinks for the ten men would now cost just \$80.
The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes. So the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men? How could they divide the \$20 windfall so that everyone would get his fair share?
They realized that \$20 divided by six is \$3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody’s share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer.
So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man’s bill by a h higher percentage the poorer he was, to follow the principle of the tax system they had been using, and he proceeded to work out the amounts he suggested that each should now pay.
And so the fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% saving). The sixth now paid \$2 instead of \$3 (33% saving). The seventh now paid \$5 instead of \$7 (28% saving). The eighth now paid \$9 instead of \$12 (25% saving). The ninth now paid \$14 instead of \$18 (22% saving). The tenth now paid \$49 instead of \$59 (16% saving).
Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But, once outside the bar, the men began to compare their savings.
“I only got a dollar out of the \$20 saving,” declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man,”but he got \$10!”
“Yeah, that’s right,” exclaimed the fifth man. “I only saved a dollar too. It’s unfair that he got ten times more benefit than me!” “That’s true!” shouted the seventh man. “Why should he get \$10 back, when I got only \$2? The wealthy get all the breaks!”
“Wait a minute,” yelled the first four men in unison, “we didn’t get anything at all. This new tax system exploits the poor!”
The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.
The next night the tenth man didn’t show up for drinks so the nine sat down and had their beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn’t have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!
And that, boys and girls, journalists and government ministers, is how our tax system works. The people who already pay the highest taxes will naturally get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas, where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.
Oh, now I get it. 🙁

## OWS doesn't speak for this hard-working family

FOTM’s beloved Miranda was watching the news on TV one evening.
The local station had something about an Occupy Wall Street group in Amarillo, Texas.
Miranda got so livid that she wrote this Letter to the Editor of her local paper. She just wants people to know that the Occupy movement neither represents nor speaks for all young people in America.
Here is her letter.
~Eowyn

I am a 29-year-old stay-at-home mom.
I live in a two-bedroom home, drive a used vehicle, and my husband works for someone else. My husband and I have a mortgage, car payments and our share of unpaid debts. So you can say I am definitely part of the American middle class.
As parents of small children, my husband and I have had to change some things because we were determined we weren’t going to be the type of role models for our children which sadly are too common in our society — the kind of parental “role model” of “Do as I say, not as I do.”
Because of this decision, I just cannot understand how it is that only the 1% are to be blamed for the mess America’s economy is in. That is what the Occupy movement says.
Yes, the government had a hand in it, as well as Big Business, but to keep blaming only them is wrong. How do we as parents teach our children to stand up and take responsibility for their actions when we won’t stand up and take some of the responsibility for our own? How do we teach our children to be disciplined by studying for a test or training for a sporting event, when we — the 99% — had a hand in our country’s economic crisis, like the implosion of the housing market, because we had taken on a mortgage or purchased things we couldn’t afford?
My husband and I are feeling the hit just like everyone else. But we will not engage in finger-pointing and scapegoating. Whatever our family’s debts, we and we alone are responsible for it.
To get our family out of debt, it may mean my husband, who is already working on weekends, will have to take on a second job. We will give up luxuries we don’t need and I will have to find a way to stretch a dollar even further.
But at least I know my children will learn honesty and responsibility and thus, will be better because of it.

## Rumor that Obama administration is preparing for civil war

This is all over the Alternative Media.
Interviewed on a radio program, a private investigator claims that his contact in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) tells him that the Obama administration expects and is preparing for civil war in America.
I don’t know if it’s true, so I’m simply re-publishing one account of the radio interview. Maybe now we know why:

#### “We are Preparing for Massive Civil War,” Says DHS Informant

Posted by
Beacon Equity Research, May 03, 2012
In a riveting interview on TruNews Radio, Wednesday, private investigator Doug Hagmann said high-level, reliable sources told him the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is preparing for “massive civil war” in America.
“Folks, we’re getting ready for one massive economic collapse,” Hagmann told TruNews host Rick Wiles.
“We have problems . . . The federal government is preparing for civil uprising,” he added, “so every time you hear about troop movements, every time you hear about movements of military equipment, the militarization of the police, the buying of the ammunition, all of this is . . . they (DHS) are preparing for a massive uprising.”

Hagmann goes on to say that his sources tell him the concerns of the DHS stem from a collapse of the U.S. dollar and the hyperinflation a collapse in the value of the world’s primary reserve currency implies to a nation of 311 million Americans, who, for the significant portion of the population, is armed.
Uprisings in Greece is, indeed, a problem, but an uprising of armed Americans becomes a matter of serious national security, a point addressed in a recent report by the Pentagon and highlighted as a vulnerability and threat to the U.S. during war-game exercises at the Department of Defense last year, according to one of the DoD’s war-game participants, Jim Rickards, author of Currency Wars: The Making of the Next Global Crisis.
Through his sources, Hagmann confirmed Rickards’ ongoing thesis of a fear of a U.S. dollar collapse at the hands of the Chinese (U.S. treasury bond holders of approximately \$1 trillion) and, possibly, the Russians (threatening to launch a gold-backed ruble as an attractive alternative to the U.S. dollar) in retaliation for aggressive U.S. foreign policy initiatives against China’s and Russia’s strategic allies Iran and Syria.
“The one source that we have I’ve known since 1979,” Hagmann continued.  “He started out as a patrol officer and currently he is now working for a federal agency under the umbrella of the Department of Homeland Security; he’s in a position to know what policies are being initiated, what policies are being planned at this point, and he’s telling us right now—look, what you’re seeing is just the tip of the iceberg.  We are preparing, we, meaning the government, we are preparing for a massive civil war in this country.”
“There’s no hyperbole here,” he added, echoing Trends Research Institute’s Founder Gerald Celente’s forecast of last year.  Celente expects a collapse of the U.S. dollar and riots in America some time this year.
Since Celente’s ‘Civil War’ prediction of last year, executive orders NDAA and National Defense Resources Preparedness were signed into law by President Obama, which are both politically damaging actions taken by a sitting president.
And most recently, requests made by the DHS for the procurement of 450 million rounds of hollow-point ammunition only fuels speculation of an upcoming tragic event expected on American soil.
These major events, as shocking to the American people as they are, have taken place during an election year.
Escalating preparatory activities by the executive branch and DHS throughout the last decade—from the Patriot Act, to countless executive orders drafted to suspend (or strip) American civil liberties  “are just the beginning” of the nightmare to come, Hagmann said.
He added, “It’s going to get so much worse toward the election, and I’m not even sure we’re going to have an election in this country.  It’s going to be that bad, and this, as well, is coming from my sources.  But one source in particular said, ‘look, you don’t understand how bad it is.’  This stuff is real; these people, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), they are ready to fight the American people.”
TruNews Wiles asked Hagmann: who does the DHS expect to fight, in particular?  Another North versus South, the Yankees against the Confederates?  Hagmann stated the situation is far worse than a struggle between any two factions within the U.S.; it’s an anticipated nationwide emergency event centered on the nation’s currency.
“What they [DHS] are expecting, and again, this is according to my sources, what they’re expecting is the un-sustainability of the American dollar,” Hagmann said.  “And we know for a fact that we can no longer service our debt.  There’s going to be a period of hyperinflation . . . the dollar will be worthless . . . The economic collapse will be so severe, people won’t be ready for this.”

## Seattle Mayor fails to handle Seattle May Day

Despite prior knowledge of anarchists’ planned activities in downtown Seattle on May Day, it took a full morning of violence and damage for Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn to issue an emergency order to protect citizens and businesses.

Cowardly criminals hide their faces with masks

Komo News: Some May Day protestors ran rampant in Downtown Seattle Tuesday afternoon, smashing windows at businesses and cars as they marched through city streets and causing Seattle’s City Hall to go into lockdown.
The chaos and property damage prompted Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn to grant emergency police powers to deal with any potential new riots that could crop up during the rest of the afternoon.
“Using the emergency powers of the mayor’s office, I’m issuing an order for the limited purpose of giving police the authority to confiscate items that can be used as well. McGinn said dozens of black-clad protesters were using items that looked like flagpoles as weapons. He said his order would enable police to take those items away from people before they are used to cause damage. McGinn said his action would help protect public safety as protests continued into Tuesday evening.
“My direction to the police is that I expect them to respond to lawbreaking swiftly and aggressively,” McGinn said. “The First Amendment uses of 5-foot-long, 3-inch rod sticks is outweighed today by our desire to preserve public safety and confiscate weapons.” McGinn said.
Citing student safety, Seattle Schools officials say their buses will be running up to 90 minutes late due to the May Day protest.
All five downtown Wells Fargo Bank branches, including one at Fourth Avenue and Seneca Street where windows were broken, have been closed for the rest of the day, said Lara Underhill, a Wells Fargo spokeswoman.
Why did this damage to private property even have to occur?  Mayor McGinn had full knowledge of the intention of individuals to use the public demonstrations as an opportunity to commit  violence and damage property.
If I were an individual or business owner I’d be sending my property damage bill directly to the Mayor’s office.

## Hollywood libs make video praising 99% OWS movement

Are Hollywood liberals so self-absorbed and self-deluded that they don’t see their utter hypocrisy in making this video extolling the 99% Occupy Wall Street movement?
Do they not know that Hollywood’s producers, directors, and many actors are among not just America’s, but the world’s 1% Super Rich?
Do they not know that whereas OWS is anti-capitalist, Hollywood — the business that employs them — is the epitome of a capitalist industry, being privately-owned, responds (mainly) to supply-and-demand market signals, and is motivated by the profit incentive?
Olivia Wilde came to prominence playing pretending to be a physician on the TV show House. In 2008, she had campaigned for Obama. Penn Badgely (who’s that?) is best known for his role as Dan Humphrey on the CW television series Gossip Girl. Zoë Kravitz (who’s that?) is a starlet who has played bit parts here and there, but is better known as the daughter of musician Lenny Kravitz and actress Lisa Bonet.
Henceforth, I will scrupulously avoid like the plague any TV show or movie with Olivia Wilde, Penn Badgely, and Zoe Kravitz in it.

## Creeping tyranny: New law expands free speech restricted zones

On March 8, 2012, with no publicity or fanfare, Obama signed into law a bill with a deceptively innocuous and arboreous name, H.R. 347: the Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act of 2011.
Passed by a bipartisan majority of both houses in Congress, the bill was sponsored by two Florida Congressmen: Thomas Rooney (R) and Ted Deutch (D).
In the video below, Judge Andrew Napolitano says that H.R. 347 makes political protest a felony, by giving the Secret Service sweeping powers to arrest and charge citizens with a felony for exercising their Constitutional right to free speech.
GovTrack.us describes the purpose of the new law as: “To correct and simplify the drafting of section 1752 (relating to restricted buildings or grounds) of title 18, United States Code.”
The following summary of H.R. 347 was written by the Congressional Research Service, a nonpartisan arm of the Library of Congress, which serves Congress:

3/8/2012–Public Law. (This measure has not been amended since it was reported to the Senate on November 17, 2011. The summary of that version is repeated here.) Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act of 2011 [sic] – Amends the federal criminal code to revise the prohibition against entering restricted federal buildings or grounds to impose criminal penalties on anyone who knowingly enters any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority. Defines “restricted buildings or grounds” as a posted, cordoned off, or otherwise restricted area of: (1) the White House or its grounds or the Vice President’s official residence or its grounds, (2) a building or grounds where the President or other person protected by the Secret Service is or will be temporarily visiting, or (3) a building or grounds so restricted due to a special event of national significance.

#### Here’s the full text of H.R. 347:

H.R.347
One Hundred Twelfth Congress of the United States of America
AT THE SECOND SESSION
Begun and held at the City of Washington on Tuesday, the third day of January, two thousand and twelve
An Act
To correct and simplify the drafting of section 1752 (relating to restricted buildings or grounds) of title 18, United States Code.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ‘Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act of 2011’.
SEC. 2. RESTRICTED BUILDING OR GROUNDS.
Section 1752 of title 18, United States Code, is amended to read as follows:
-‘Sec. 1752. Restricted building or grounds

‘(a) Whoever–
‘(1) knowingly enters or remains in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority to do so;
‘(2) knowingly, and with intent to impede or disrupt the orderly conduct of Government business or official functions, engages in disorderly or disruptive conduct in, or within such proximity to, any restricted building or grounds when, or so that, such conduct, in fact, impedes or disrupts the orderly conduct of Government business or official functions;
‘(3) knowingly, and with the intent to impede or disrupt the orderly conduct of Government business or official functions, obstructs or impedes ingress or egress to or from any restricted building or grounds; or
‘(4) knowingly engages in any act of physical violence against any person or property in any restricted building or grounds; or attempts or conspires to do so, shall be punished as provided in subsection (b).
‘(b) The punishment for a violation of subsection (a) is–
‘(1) a fine under this title or imprisonment for not more than 10 years, or both, if
‘(A) the person, during and in relation to the offense, uses or carries a deadly or dangerous weapon or firearm; or
‘(B) the offense results in significant bodily injury as defined by section 2118(e)(3); and
‘(2) a fine under this title or imprisonment for not more than one year, or both, in any other case.
‘(c) In this section–
‘(1) the term ‘restricted buildings or grounds’ means any posted, cordoned off, or otherwise restricted area–
‘(A) of the White House or its grounds, or the Vice President’s official residence or its grounds;
‘(B) of a building or grounds where the President or other person protected by the Secret Service is or will be temporarily visiting; or
‘(C) of a building or grounds so restricted in conjunction with an event designated as a special event of national significance; and
‘(2) the term ‘other person protected by the Secret Service’ means any person whom the United States Secret Service is authorized to protect under section 3056 of this title or by Presidential memorandum, when such person has not declined such protection.’.

Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Vice President of the United States and President of the Senate.
——————————-

The key to H.R. 347, of course, is who gets to decide whether a place constitutes “restricted building or grounds.” Notice that, contrary what Judge Napolitano asserts, nowhere in the language of H.R. 347 does it say it’s the Secret Service who decides when and whether a political protest becomes a felony.
Here’s the ACLU’s analysis of H.R. 347:

H.R. 347 doesn’t create any new crimes, or directly apply to the Occupy protests. The bill slightly rewrites a short trespass law, originally passed in 1971 and amended a couple of times since, that covers areas subject to heightened Secret Service security measures.

These restricted areas include locations where individuals under Secret Service protection are temporarily located, and certain large special events like a presidential inauguration. They can also include large public events like the Super Bowl and the presidential nominating conventions (troublingly, the Department of Homeland Security has significant discretion in designating what qualifies as one of these special events).

The original statute, unchanged by H.R. 347, made certain conduct with respect to these restricted areas a crime, including simple trespass, actions in or near the restricted area that would “disrupt the orderly conduct of Government,” and blocking the entrance or exit to the restricted area.

H.R. 347 did make one noteworthy change, which may make it easier for the Secret Service to overuse or misuse the statute to arrest lawful protesters.

Without getting too much into the weeds, most crimes require the government to prove a certain state of mind. Under the original language of the law, you had to act “willfully and knowingly” when committing the crime. In short, you had to know your conduct was illegal. Under H.R. 347, you will simply need to act “knowingly,” which here would mean that you know you’re in a restricted area, but not necessarily that you’re committing a crime.

Any time the government lowers the intent requirement, it makes it easier for a prosecutor to prove her case, and it gives law enforcement more discretion when enforcing the law. […]

Also, while H.R. 347, on its own, is only of incremental importance, it could be misused as part of a larger move by the Secret Service and others to suppress lawful protest by relegating it to particular locations at a public event. These “free speech zones” are frequently used to target certain viewpoints or to keep protesters away from the cameras. Although H.R. 347 doesn’t directly address free speech zones, it is part of the set of laws that make this conduct possible, and should be seen in this context.

To conclude, Judge Napolitano distorted and exaggerated H.R. 347. It turns out the federal government had had free speech restrictions in “restricted buildings and grounds” even before H.R. 347. That being said, the new law is yet another nail driven into the coffin of our Constitutional liberties.

## OWS bums try to scam elderly couple

Obama voters, no doubt...

# Police say squatters tried to take advantage of elderly couple

KATU:  Police have rounded up a group of squatters who, they said, were trying to take advantage of an elderly couple in Northeast Portland.
Two different vacant homes were involved, police said. One is in the 5600 block of Northeast 14th Avenue while the other is in the 4900 block of North Minnesota Avenue.
In the Northeast 14th Avenue home, police found documentation indicating the squatting was an organized effort to victimize the elderly property owner. A handwritten letter said, in part: “The idea was that we might have a better chance at survival if the landowner was, as our research could tell, a batty old lady and her bed ridden husband.
Police said they found material in the homes from the local anarchist and Occupy movements.   Police arrested the squatters in the 14th Avenue home at about 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9.
Three different neighbors said the squatters had been living in the house since at least last summer. Police have not yet confirmed that detail.  James Lambert said he had no idea the people next door were allegedly trespassing.
“They fixed the house up and said they were fixing it up while they were renting,” he said. “They had an agreement with a third party that they were supposed to fix it up as they lived there.”
On North Minnesota Avenue, a burglary call at about 11:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13 brought police to the house that the owner said was supposed to be vacant. Police found two people inside the home and arrested them for trespassing.
The owner of the North Minnesota Avenue home is different than the owner of the home on 14th Avenue, police said.  Neighbors said when two people moved into the North Minnesota Avenue home it seemed legitimate.
Police said inside the home they found anarchist materials, boxing and MMA sparring equipment, literature on how to pick a lock, and addresses for other vacant homes.  The investigation is continuing, according to police. And they said it may include other Portland-area homes.
Police said the three people who were arrested at the 14th Avenue home were 28-year-old Alexander Nicholas Ayers; 29-year-old Molly Maxine Garmire and 23-year-old Benjamin Lee Miley.
Liars and cheaters, trying to steal from someone else in order to “survive”.  Remember, Skippy and Pelosi support the OWS losers.

## Occupy Wall Street shows true colors: pro-abortion, anti-Christian

#### “You will know them by their fruits.” -Matthew 7:15

Occupy Wall Streeters (OWS) call themselves a movement in protest against America’s economic elite — the Top One Percent in income and wealth. But action always speaks louder and are more revealing than words.
From the beginning, Fellowship of the Minds has pointed to OWS’s true hard-left nature. The latest activities of OWS now leave no doubt as to what this movement is really about.
Yesterday was the 39th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Roe v Wade decision that opened America’s floodgate to abortion. To mark that woeful anniversary, many Marches for Life were held across America.
On Sunday, January 22, 2012, the first-ever official March for Life Youth Rally convened in Washington, D.C., with 1,200 attendees, including March for Life founder Nellie Gray. The rally was disrupted by 15-20 Occupy protestors situated in threes throughout the auditorium, who stood and began shouting pro-abortion chants, drowning out the speaker at the mic.
Amidst chants of “occupy anti-choice” and “pro-life, that’s a lie, you don’t care if women die,” rally organizers instructed the youth not to react but to pray as security was called. As the shouting continued and security was delayed, organizers chose to begin the first set of music.  The cheers of the massive crowd at the suggestion drowned out the protestors, who were unheard from that point until they were escorted out by security.

#### At the same time, Occupy Wall Streeters in New York vandalized a Manhattan church and urinated on the cross in a Brooklyn church.

Candice M. Giove reports for the New York Post, Jan. 22, 2012, that when Rev. Bob Brashear prepared for Sunday morning services at Manhattan’s West Park Presbyterian Church, he noticed parts of the bronze baptismal font were gone. The 18-inch-diameter bronze basin and lid missing from the baptismal font’s 800-pound base. Holy water — straight from the River Jordan — had been poured from the missing basin insert into the base’s bowl.
The Manhattan church had been sheltering Occupy Wall Streeters. About 60 occupiers had rolled out their sleeping bags between the pews the night before.
Just 3 weeks earlier, a \$2,400 Apple MacBook had vanished from Brashear’s office. He told the occupiers that even when the 100-year-old Upper West Side church extended help to addicts during the 1980s drug scourge, no visitors touched its \$12,500 sacramental instrument. “Not even crackheads messed with that,” Rev. Brashear said.
He then issued a stern warning to the Occupiers: “You have 24 hours to find it [the baptismal font] and to come up with an amends and to come up with a plan. ‘I’m sorry and it won’t happen again’ won’t work.”
The pastor and a worshipper finally found the missing basin tossed into a small room connected to the church. The lid is still missing. The pastor has given protesters two weeks to vacate the church.

Park Slope Presbyterian Church

OWS did something even worse at the Park Slope Presbyterian Church in Brooklyn, which had also offered shelter to occupiers — they urinated on a cross.
Stoyan Zaimov reports for the Christian Post, Jan. 23, 2012:

At Park Slope Presbyterian Church…officials have revealed that activists have desecrated its property.

Rabbi Chaim Gruber, who had previously announced his solidarity with the OWS movement, claimed that an activist had urinated inside the church, and the urine had come in contact with a cross.

The rabbi posted a long letter on the New York General Assembly website revealing that since the incident and other disagreeable issues within the movement, he has since retracted his support from the group, as he feels it has lost the values he initially respected it for.
