Elites’ contempt for America’s white middle class

In early March 2016, three months before the last Republican Party primary elections that sealed Trump’s ascendancy as the party’s presidential nominee, Politico Magazine contributing editor Michael Lind called Trump “the Perfect Populist”—”one with broader appeal to the right and the center than his predecessors in recent American political history—so much so it could put him in the White House”.

Lind was unusual among pundits in predicting Trump’s electoral victory, as according to polling data he did not have even an outside chance of winning. What catapulted Trump to the White House, to the enduring shock and disbelief of the Democratic Party, was his message of what Victor Davis Hanson in his book The Case for Trump identified as “middle-class populism”—a populism of “less government, doubt over overseas military commitments, fears of redistribution and globalization, and distrust of cultural elites.” Their distrust, Hanson maintains, fundamentally was a reaction, not a catalyst, to the elites’ contempt for the white middle class:

[S]corn for the white middle class . . . was widespread among many elites, and it ignited a Trump backlash . . . . The anger that Trump tapped had been a long time in coming. But few politicians knew it firsthand, much less saw it as merited or even useful in the political sense . . . . [Trump] had seen a critical preexisting and vast swath of potential voters in proverbial swing states who were . . . resentful over the disdain shown them by elites, especially the likes of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. And they were irate at the winners of globalization who had somehow blamed them for being the global economy’s losers.

In other words, the elites’ contempt for the white middle and working classes predated the 2016 election.

Except in the cases of Obama and Hillary Clinton, the following account of contemptuous elites are from Hanson’s The Case for Trump.

To begin, eight years before the 2016 election, at a fundraising event in San Francisco on April 6, 2008, presidential hopeful Barack Obama condescendingly dismissed working-class voters in old industrial towns decimated by job losses as “bitter” people who “cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

For her part, at an LGBT fundraiser in Manhattan on September 9, 2016, Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton urged supporters to “stage an intervention” if they had friends who might vote Trump. She then dissed millions of Americans over whom she intended to rule as president. Clinton said, “you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the ‘basket of deplorables’. The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic — you name it.” After she lost the election to Trump and the “deplorables,” in a public speech in Mumbai, India on March 10, 2018, Clinton redoubled her contempt for Trump voters. She said, “So I won the places that are optimistic, diverse, dynamic, moving forward,” thereby implying that the 63 million Americans who had voted for Trump were demoralized, monotonous, listless, and degenerating.

Hillary Clinton’s aides were just as dismissive. In her book Chasing Hillary: Ten Years, Two Presidential Campaigns, and One Intact Glass Ceiling, New York Times reporter Amy Chozick described how Clinton’s inner circle looked down on Trump voters as fodder for their amusement: “The Deplorables always got a laugh, over living-room chats in the Hamptons, at dinner parties under the stars on Martha’s Vineyard, over passed hors d’oeuvres in Beverly Hills, and during sunset cocktails in Silicon Valley.”

Elites less prominent than Obama and Clinton similarly were contemptuous of Trump supporters. As examples, on August 12, 2016, FBI agent Peter Strzok texted to his paramour Lisa Page (both are married) that Trump voters stank: “Just went to a southern Virginia Walmart. I could SMELL the Trump support.” Another unidentified FBI employee texted an FBI attorney on the day after the 2016 election that “Trump’s supporters are all poor to middle class, uneducated, lazy POS [pieces of sh*t].”

In a tweet on January 7, 2017, Melinda Byerley, founder of the Silicon Valley company Timeshare CMO, wrote: “One thing middle America could do is to realize that no educated person wants to live in a sh**hole with stupid people. Especially violent, racist, and/or misogynistic ones . . . . When corporations think about where to locate call centers, factories, development centers, etc., they also have to deal with the fact that those towns have nothing going for them. No infrastructure, just a few bars and a terrible school system.”

Some members of the media were just as disdainful. In a tweet on August 2018, Politico reporter Marc Caputo mocked the crowd at a Trump rally as toothless hicks: “If you put everyone’s mouths together in this video, you’d get a full set of teeth.” Although Caputo initialy apologized for and deleted the tweet, he later doubled down, calling Trump supporters “garbage people.”

Another journalist, tech writer and member of the New York Times’s editorial board Sarah Jeong, a graduate of Harvard Law School who is of Korean heritage, tweeted: “Are white people genetically predisposed to burn faster in the sun, thus logically being only fit to live underground like groveling goblins?”; “Oh man it’s kind of sick how much joy I get out of being cruel to old white men”; and “White people marking up the internet with their opinions like dogs pissing on fire hydrants.”

Hillary Clinton wasn’t the only politician who regarded Trump voters with unconcealed contempt. On September 15, 2018, during a speech at the Human Rights Campaign’s annual dinner in Washington, D.C., former Vice President Joe Biden called the deplorables “virulent” “dregs of society”. He said: “Despite losing in the courts, and in the court of opinion, these forces of intolerance remain determined to undermine and roll back the progress you all have made. This time they—not you—have an ally in the White House. This time they have an ally. They’re a small percentage of the American people—virulent people, some of them the dregs of society.” Hanson points out that those “dregs of society” in 2016 numbered 63 million—46% of all Americans who voted.

Nor were Progressives the only elites who held the white middle and working classes in contempt. Republican “never Trumpers” were equally derisive.

In a March 2016 op-ed, National Review’s conservative social critic Kevin Williamson wrote: “The truth about these dysfunctional, downscale communities is that they deserve to die. Economically, they are negative assets. Morally, they are indefensible . . . . The white American underclass is in thrall to a vicious, selfish culture whose main products are misery and used heroin needles.”

On February 8, 2017, on a panel at the American Enterprise Institute, Bill Kristol, founder of the Weekly Standard, said white, working-class Americans should be replaced by immigrants. Kristol said:

“Look, to be totally honest, if things are so bad as you say with the white working class, don’t you want to get new Americans in? Basically if you are in free society, a capitalist society, after two, three, four generations of hard work, everyone becomes kind of decadent, lazy, spoiled, whatever. Then, luckily, you have these waves of people coming in from Italy, Ireland, Russia, and now Mexico, who really want to work hard and really want to succeed, and really want their kids to live better lives than them, and aren’t sort of clipping coupons or hoping that they can hang on and, meanwhile, grew up as spoiled kids and so forth.”

Another “never Trumper” conservative who became a self-described “man without a party” after the 2016 election, expressed the same wish. In a June 18, 2018 op-ed, Washington Post columnist Max Boot wrote: “If only we could keep the hard-working Latin American newcomers and deport the contemptible Republican cowards—that would truly enhance America’s greatness.”

For his part, New York Times conservative columnist David Brooks, with the ragged teeth, echoed the same sentiments in a January 29, 2018 op-ed: “These rural places are often 95 percent white . . . . They are often marked by economic stagnation, social isolation, family breakdown and high opioid addiction . . . . It is a blunt fact of life that, these days, immigrants show more of these virtues than the native-born.”

Hanson points out that these Progressive and conservative “never Trump” elites not only are racist, they are hypocrites. Conveniently, the elites excused their crude stereotyping of white, middle America by insisting that racism against whites was not racism. While accusing the middle and working classes they deride for “white privilege,” the elites are blind to their own outsized privileges. In Hanson’s words:

Often the white elite signaled their disgust of the ‘white privilege’ of the disintegrating middle class as a means of exempting their own quite genuine white privilege of insider contacts, professional degrees, wealth, inheritance, and influence.

I am baffled by why the elites hold such virulent hatred and contempt for America’s white middle and working classes who have built this country. It is a phenomenon for psychiatric professionals to explain. Alas, being of the same privileged professional elite class, they probably are infected with the same virus.

Perhaps our readers can hazard some guesses to explain this phenomenon.

We The Voters Are Being Impeached

Not just President Trump

I call it the “Inevitable Outcome” strategy

This is a psyop pointed directly at the American people. You know the trick: Al Gore loses an election and throws a tantrum by demanding a recount that stretches for months. Al Franken loses a senatorial election and demands recounts until he has found enough (fraudulent) votes to “win.” Hillary Clinton loses the presidential election and launches an army of deep state operatives bent on driving President Trump out of office. Frankly, it wearies me.

The real attack is on the voters

As each new day comes, with the Demonrat’s Bolshevik Impeachment Circus carrying on, the sense of being personally attacked grows stronger. It’s not just an attack on a politician (President Trump), it is an attack on the American people and the Constitution of the United States.

Like a school yard bully, they will threaten to hurt you if you don’t give them your lunch

That threat hangs in the air with every move we make to restore our nation. Appoint a conservative judge, and expect a bunch of liars to come out of the woodwork mercilessly attacking the candidate with false accusations. Take a conservative stand on air and expect be doxed and to see a screaming mob outside your home.

The one thing the Left wants is power

If we do not give them what they demand, we can expect to see their tantrums escalate until we give in. If we do give in to their demands, the tyranny will become perfect for the hundred year anniversary of the Russian Revolution. There are things worse than death; we must stand against them at all costs.

Where we are now

The Leftist Politicians, together with the News and Entertainment Media, Leftist Academia, Tech Giants, Atifa, and all their hordes are rushing in at us. But as they fully commit and show their true colors, they are unknowingly exposing themselves to the scrutiny of the watching world. They are permanently discrediting themselves from serious consideration of their views in the future.

They have gotten away with this for a long time, but that was largely because they had not been unmasked. Walter Cronkite, “the most trusted man in America,” was not known for his true allegiance to the devil.

Thankfully now, they have unmasked themselves

…and their ability to deceive will be greatly diminished.

Why Drudge Report went to the dark side

Begun as an email newsletter, Matt Drudge‘s the Drudge Report became a news aggregator website in 1996.

By 2003, Drudge Report became so popular it made almost $1.3 million a year in advertising revenues. In 2006, while dissing the Drudge Report, Time magazine named Matt Drudge one of the 100 most influential people in the world. In 2007, New York Times reporter Jim Rutenberg said that according to Nielsen/NetRatings, the Drudge Report got three million unique visitors a month, or approximately one percent of the population of the United States.

So successful is the Drudge Report that it has made its creator and editor Matt Drudge, 53, a multimillionaire, with an estimated net worth of $150 million.

What made Drudge Report so popular was its conservatism. Indeed, in 2001, Drudge told the Miami New Times that “I am a conservative. I’m very much pro-life. If you go down the list of what makes up a conservative, I’m there almost all the way.”

Drudge Report had supported Donald Trump in the 2016 election. But then I began to notice a change since Trump’s presidential inauguration when Drudge Report increasingly posted links to anti-Trump (and therefore anti-“Deplorables” — the 63 million Americans who had voted for him in 2016) mainstream media outlets like CNN and the Washington Post.

Simply put, I didn’t go on Drudge Report for CNN. So I stopped reading Drudge Report.

Sometime before WordPress took down FOTM on August 15, 2018, in comments on FOTM I broached the subject of Drudge Report ceasing being conservative. To ensure I wasn’t imagining things, I did a search online and found other websites saying the same thing. A longtime FOTM reader who had effusively praised FOTM and “Dr. Eowyn” took such issue with my observations about Drudge Report that he became verbally abusive. After I banned him from commenting, he sent me an email in which he stooped to racist and gender insults. All of which completely baffled me why he had so much invested in a news aggregator site that he took any criticism of Drudge Report as a personal affront.

Then TrailDust noticed the transformation of Drudge Report as well, and wrote two posts warning our readers:

A couple of our readers speculated that Matt Drudge turned to the dark side because he’s gay and has a new boyfriend. The never-married and childless Drudge has consistently denied the rumors of him being homosexual, but in January 2016, Southfloridagaynews.com reported that he had given away half of his real estate holdings to Juan Carlos Alvarado, his roommate of eleven years.

Citing a YouTube video by Josh Bernstein, Kelleigh Nelson of NewsWithViews has another explanation for why Matt Drudge went to the dark side. Below are excerpts from her November 9, 2019 post, “Drudge Sells Out Trump, Helps Democrats“:

Drudge used to break stories before the mainstream media or Fox News even knew about them; they went to Drudge to find out the latest.  Josh Bernstein recently exposed what has happened to Drudge.  He says we should boycott Drudge and I agree with him.

In a surprising turn, Drudge Report removed ads between the end of May and mid-July of this year according to Danny Rogers, a cofounder of the Global Disinformation Index, a project that’s analyzing domains to generate “risk ratings of the world’s media websites.” After noticing an absence of ads on Drudge around May 31, Rogers told BuzzFeed they didn’t see any ads on Drudge until about July 12.

During that period, Drudge cast off his advertising representative of close to 20 years, Intermarkets, in favor of a new and unknown company, Granite Cubed. It has no record in the digital ad industry, was only registered as a company in March of this year, and lists no staff or owners on its websites. Yet it just landed one of the biggest websites in the US.

Corporate records show that Granite Cubed is owned by Margaret Otto. According to Pathmatics, a marketing and advertising platform owned by Margaret Otto, she and her husband, Adrian, have close ties to both Matt Drudge and his father, Bob Drudge. The Ottos have known the Drudges since 1999.  Pathmatics, a marketing intelligence platform, estimates that over the past 12 months the site generated more than $30 million in ad revenue. Another estimate from the Global Disinformation Index, to be published in a report next month, pegs revenue at $9 million per year.

The Otto’s also acquired another company in 2017 founded by Bob Drudge called Refdesk.  Adrian Otto joined Google Cloud in 2017 and is their technical director. Matt Drudge is now in bed with Google and Alphabet Inc., the parent company of Google.

Alphabet Inc., Google subsidiaries, and YouTube all detest President Trump and everything on the Drudge Report has switched from supporting conservative sites and our president to leftwing media who despises President Donald Trump and his supporters.  Drudge’s links now go to mainstream media like CNN and MSNBC.  Conservative media is rarely seen anymore.

Drudge gave up his relationship with his conservative advertising company of 20 years and joined with the enemies of freedom because they are family vested via Matt’s father, Bob Drudge.

It all makes for a startling shift for a publisher best known for a strategy rooted in changing nothing about his site’s operation. It’s also causing the ad industry to look closely at the mysterious new firm and its high-profile customer.

Bigger bucks must be involved.  Shades of Anthony Scaramucci.

Here’s the video of Josh Bernstein:

It must be said that Bernstein’s account is of Matt Drudge switching Drudge Report‘s advertising representative to a new and unknown company, Granite Cubed, the husband-and-wife owners of which have ties to Matt’s father, Robert Drudge, who is a Democrat. But Matt’s father (and mother too) has always been a Democrat, and a constant (Robert Drudge being a Democrat) cannot explain a variable (Matt turning against Trump and embracing the liberal media). Nor does Matt changing Drudge Report‘s advertising representative explain his political transformation — changing advertising representative likely is a result, not the cause, of his political transformation.

And so, the reason for Matt Drudge’s and the Drudge Report‘s transformation remains a mystery.

Don’t kid yourself: The corporate liberals care nothing about protecting women

Ever since the #MeToo movement started, we’ve been told by democats that we must #BelieveWomen.

Yet when it comes to telling womens’ stories of abuse and harassment, the media and progressives do everything they can to bury the stories to protect their friends in high places.

Apparently it’s only acceptable to #BelieveWomen when they accuse republican men (even with scant-to-no proof).

NBC killed Ronan Farrow’s expose on Harvey Weinstein in their desire to protect predators.

ABC News spiked a story exposing the truth behind pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Obviously, the above two stories have a certain power couple connection – the Clintons. Funny how the two alphabets killed these stories at the time Hillary Clinton was running for president. Just a coincidence, I guess.

Now comes word that Nike is apparently victim-shaming a women runner who claims that Nike’s former trainer, Alberto Salazar , put her through physical and mental abuse.

The NY Post reports that athlete Mary Cain, while working with Salazar on Nike’s Oregon Project, the coach forced her to lose weight and ignored her acts of self-harm. Just 17 at the time, Cain describes scenes where Salazar would weigh her in front of her teammates and publicly shame her if she wasn’t hitting her weight.

Nike cut ties with Salazar this year after he was banned for 4 years from athletics for doping offenses.

Nike says they will launch an investigation and from their statement: “These are deeply troubling allegations which have not been raised by Mary or her parents before. Mary was seeking to rejoin the Oregon Project and Alberto’s team as recently as April of this year and had not raised these concerns as part of that process.”

The NY Post says that other women are backing Cain’s claims. From their report:

Multiple prominent runners, including New York City Marathon winner Shalane Flanagan, have spoken out in support of Cain. Olympic runner Kara Goucher backed up Cain’s allegations and criticized Nike’s handling of the situation on Twitter Friday.

“So [Nike] responds to [Cain],” Goucher wrote. “Takes the time to victim shame Mary, before saying they will investigate. I hope you come to me, because I have stories to match all of Mary’s claims and so much more. Don’t let this be more lip service, actually do something.

Read the whole NY Post story here.

As a result of this scandal, Nike CEO Mark Parker is stepping down to become executive chairman of the company on January 13, 2020. He endorsed Hillary Clinton for president in 2016.

Just another example of progressives’ and their double standards: They claim to care about women yet put politics, power and profits over the truth and well-being of women.

3 million page views since June 20th 2017

WordPress tried to destroy FOTM along with many other conservative blogs

In the wake of Hillary Clinton’s election failure, in spite of DNC vote fraud and a complicit lying news media, the tech giants realized that a significant factor in Donald Trump’s success was “alternative” online media. They decided on a comprehensive effort to take down conservative communication.

FOTM was forced to move to new hosting servers, and with the help of some significant IT experts, continued to publish new posts.

Three million visits since that time, and the “Little Blog The Could” is still standing.

With one year before the 2020 presidential election, it is likely the enemies of the Constitution will become more rash in their tactics.

Let’s buckle up for some turbulence, and commit our way to the Lord.

President Trump broke them: Media resorts to fact-checking Trump’s honor dog meme

After it was announced that a K-9 military dog played a major role in the Special Ops raid and takedown of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, President Trump tweeted an obviously Photoshopped pic that Daily Wire created (above).

Because progressives are seriously infected with TDS and have no sense of humor, the media immediately began their investigation into President Trump’s horribly “fake” tweet. Firefighters to the rescue!

Jim Acosta at CNN made sure to let everyone know that “the dog is not at the WH.”

The New York Times went to bat to request details from the WH on the photo.

Because OrangeManBad, the DNC media tried their hardest to smear President Trump and his dastardly meme. Impeach NOW!

Ben Shapiro, from the Daily Wire, shared these tweets last night:

“So, WaPo asked my business partner, @jeremydboreing, about our Medal of Honor dog meme. His glorious response is screencapped below. Their report then suggested Jeremy refused to answer questions about the picture. Um, no. We just think you’re being f***ing insane.

“Yes, we created the meme. Yes, it is a joke. Yes, you people are also jokes. Please feel free to quote both me and Jeremy on this.”

I can’t imagine how much crazier the left can get if President Trump wins re-election.
