Facebook “fact checker” puts libelous “fact-check” on John Stossel video; His appeal has to go through same “fact-checker” who smeared him!

Yeah, that makes COMPLETE sense.

Yet we all know that liberal logic is not designed to make sense.

California governor Newsom bans all gas-fuel vehicles by 2035

This is Agenda 21 on steroids.

It’s bad enough that California’s power brownouts and shutdowns from increasingly dire wildfires are due entirely to the state increasingly replacing fossil-fuel with unreliable wind- and solar-power generation, now Governor Gavin Newsom means to ban all sales of gas- and hybrid-fuel vehicles.

On Wednesday, Governor Gavin Newsom issued an executive order N-79-20  mandating that in 15 years, by 2035, only zero-emission vehicles will be sold in the State of California. (H/t California Political Review)

In the name of “protect[ing] the health and safety of our communities and workers” and ensuring “a sustainable and inclusive economic future for California,” Newsom ordered that:

It shall be a goal of the State that 100 percent of in-state sales of new passenger cars and trucks will be zero-emission by 2035. It shall be a further goal of the State that 100 percent of medium-and heavy-duty vehicles in the State be zero-emission by 2045 for all operations where feasible and by 2035 for drayage trucks. It shall be further a goal of the State to transition to 100 percent zero-emission off-road vehicles and equipment by 2035 where feasible.

2.The State Air Resources Board, to the extent consistent with State and federal law, shall develop and propose:

a)Passenger vehicle and truck regulations requiring increasing volumes of new zero-emission vehicles sold in the State towards the target of 100 percent of in-state sales by 2035.

b)Medium-and heavy-duty vehicle regulations requiring increasing volumes of new zero-emission trucks and buses sold and operatedin the State towards the target of 100 percent of the fleet transitioning to zero-emission vehiclesby 2045 everywhere feasible and for all drayage trucks to be zero-emission by 2035.

c) Strategies, in coordination with other State agencies, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and local air districts, to achieve 100 percent zero-emission from off-road vehicles and equipment operations in the State by 2035.

Furthermore, in less than a year, by July 15, 2021, the relevant state agencies are to “develop strategies, recommendations and actions…to manage and expedite the responsible closure and remediation of former oil extraction sites as the State transitions to a carbon-neutral economy.”

As of  2020, 528 U.S. cities have signed on to Agenda 21’s Local Governments for Sustainability (ICLEI), an international association of local governments as well as national and regional local government organizations who have made a commitment to “sustainable development”.

There is a petition launched by a retired Yolo County sheriff to recall Gov. Gavin Newsom. Times of San Diego reports that as of August 21, 2020, the petition was almost halfway to a November deadline, with a quarter-million signatures — well short of the nearly 1.5 million needed to call an election. To sign the petition, click here.

Rather confusingly, there is also a Change.org petition to recall Newsom, with 76,522 signatures, and a goal of 150,000 signatures. To sign, go here.

Welcome to demorat-run California: Turn off AC & appliances during heatwave!

California is having a heatwave right now. They are also experiencing blackouts.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has a solution for that:

Years of “progressive climate change” policies have destroyed the energy infrastructure and capabilities in California. In their desire to be a leader in renewable energy, the demorats have destroyed the state’s ability to adequately handle “normal” weather events.

When are demorats going to learn that elections have consequences?

Before you know it, California will be like this:

North Korea doing their part to save the environment…

Environmentalist apologizes for climate-change alarmism; censored by Forbes

An apology by climate-change activist Michael Shellenberger was originally published on Forbes website, but subsequently taken down.

Michael Shellenberger is an American author and environmental policy writer. He is a Time Magazine “Hero of the Environment,” Green Book Award Winner, and the author of Apocalypse Never: Why Environmental Alarmism Hurts Us All (Harper Collins, June 30, 2020).

Spectator USA has republished Shellenberger’s apology on July 7, 2020. Here it is in its entirety. I added the red bold emphasis.

An environmentalist’s apology: ‘I was guilty of alarmism’

‘I feel an obligation to apologize for how badly we environmentalists have misled the public

By Michael Shellenberger

On behalf of environmentalists everywhere, I would like to formally apologize for the climate scare we created over the last 30 years. Climate change is happening, it’s just not the end of the world. It’s not even our most serious environmental problem.

I have been a climate activist for 20 years and an environmentalist for 30, so I may seem like a strange person to be saying this.

But as an energy expert asked by the US Congress to provide objective expert testimony and invited by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to serve as an Expert Reviewer of its next Assessment Report, I feel an obligation to apologize for how badly we environmentalists have misled the public.

Here are some facts few people know:

  • Humans are not causing a ‘sixth mass extinction’
  • The Amazon is not ‘the lungs of the world’
  • Climate change is not definitively making natural disasters worse
  • Fires have declined 25% around the world since 2003
  • The amount of land we use for meat — humankind’s biggest use of land — has declined by an area nearly as large as Alaska
  • Carbon emissions are declining in most rich nations and have declined in Britain, Germany, and France from the mid-1970s
  • Netherlands is becoming richer, not poorer while adapting to life below sea level
  • We produce 25 per cent more food than we need and food surpluses will continue to rise as the world gets hotter
  • Habitat loss and the direct killing of wild animals are potentially larger threats to species than climate change
  • Wood fuel is far worse for people and wildlife than fossil fuels
  • Preventing future pandemics requires more not less ‘industrial’ agriculture

I know that the above facts will sound like ‘climate denialism’ to many, but that just shows the power of climate alarmism.

In reality, the above facts come from the best-available scientific studies, including those conducted by or accepted by the IPCC, the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and other leading scientific bodies.

When some people read this, they will imagine that I’m some right-wing anti-environmentalist. I’m not. At 17, I lived in Nicaragua to show solidarity with the Sandinista socialist revolution. At 23, I raised money for Guatemalan women’s cooperatives. In my early 20s, I lived in the semi-Amazon doing research with small farmers fighting land invasions. At 26, I helped expose poor conditions at Nike factories in Asia.

I became an environmentalist at 16 when I threw a fundraiser for Rainforest Action Network. At 27, I helped save the last unprotected ancient redwoods in California. In my 30s, I advocated renewables and successfully helped persuade the Obama administration to invest $90 billion into them. Over the last few years I helped save enough nuclear plants from being replaced by fossil fuels to prevent a sharp increase in emissions.

But until last year, I mostly avoided speaking out against the climate scare. Partly because I was embarrassed. After all, I am as guilty of alarmism as any other environmentalist. For years, I referred to climate change as an ‘existential’ threat to human civilization and called it a ‘crisis.’

But mostly, I was scared. I remained quiet about the climate disinformation campaign because I was afraid of losing friends and funding. The few times I summoned the courage to defend climate science from those who misrepresent it I suffered harsh consequences. And so I mostly stood by and did next to nothing as my fellow environmentalists terrified the public.

I even stood by as people in the White House and many in the news media tried to destroy the reputation and career of an outstanding scientist, good man, and friend of mine, Roger Pielke, Jr., a lifelong progressive Democrat and environmentalist who testified in favor of carbon regulations. Why did they do that? Because his research proves natural disasters aren’t getting worse.

But then, last year, things spiraled out of control.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said, ‘The world is going to end in twelve years if we don’t address climate change.’ While Britain’s most high-profile environmental group, Extinction Rebellion, claimed, ‘Climate Change Kills Children.’

The world’s most influential green journalist, Bill McKibben, called climate change the ‘greatest challenge humans have ever faced’ and said it would ‘wipe out civilizations.’

Mainstream journalists were repeatedly reporting the Amazon as ‘the lungs of the world,’ and that deforestation was akin to a nuclear bomb going off.

As a result, half of the people surveyed around the world last year said they thought climate change would make humanity extinct. And in January, one of five British children told pollsters they were having nightmares about climate change.

Whether or not you have children, you must see how wrong this is. I admit I may be sensitive because I have a teenage daughter – after we talked about the science she was reassured. But her friends are deeply misinformed and thus, understandably, frightened.

I thus decided I had to speak out. I knew that writing a few articles wouldn’t be enough; I needed a book to properly lay out all of the evidence.

And so my formal apology for our fear-mongering comes in the form of my new book, Apocalypse Never: Why Environmental Alarmism Hurts Us All.

It is based on two decades of research and three decades of environmental activism. At 400 pages, with 100 of them endnotes, Apocalypse Never covers climate change, deforestation, plastic waste, species extinction, industrialisation, meat, nuclear energy, and renewables.

Some highlights from the book:

  • Factories and modern farming are key to human liberation and environmental progress
  • The most important thing for saving the environment is producing more food, particularly meat, on less land
  • The most important thing for reducing air pollution and carbon emissions is moving from wood to coal to petroleum to natural gas to uranium
  • 100 per cent renewables would require increasing the land used for energy from today’s 0.5 pc to 50 pc
  • We should want cities, farms, and power plants to have higher, not lower, power densities
  • Vegetarianism reduces one’s emissions by less than 4 pc
  • Greenpeace didn’t save the whales, switching from whale oil to petroleum and palm oil did
  • ‘Free-range’ beef would require 20 times more land and produce 300 pc more emissions
  • Greenpeace dogmatism worsened forest fragmentation of the Amazon
  • The colonialist approach to gorilla conservation in the Congo produced a backlash that may have resulted in the killing of 250 elephants

Why were we all so misled?

In the final three chapters of Apocalypse Never I expose the financial, political, and ideological motivations. Environmental groups have accepted hundreds of millions of dollars from fossil fuel interests. Groups motivated by anti-humanist beliefs forced the World Bank to stop trying to end poverty and instead make poverty ‘sustainable.’ While status anxiety, depression, and hostility to modern civilization are behind much of the alarmism.

Once you realise just how badly misinformed we have been, often by people with plainly unsavory or unhealthy motivations, it is hard not to feel duped.

Will Apocalypse Never make any difference? There are certainly reasons to doubt it.

Apocalyptic pronouncements about climate change have been made in the news since the late 1980s, and do not seem disposed to stop.

The ideology behind environmental alarmism — Malthusianism — has been repeatedly debunked for 200 years and yet is more powerful than ever. But there are also reasons to believe that environmental alarmism will, if not come to an end, have diminishing cultural power.

The coronavirus pandemic is an actual crisis which puts the climate ‘crisis’ into perspective. Even if you think we overreacted, COVID-19 has killed nearly 500,000 people and shattered economies around the globe.

Scientific institutions including WHO and IPCC have undermined their credibility through the repeated politicisation of science – their future existence and relevance depends on new leadership and serious reform.

Facts still matter, and social media is allowing for a wider range of new and independent voices to outcompete alarmist environmental journalism at legacy publications.

Nations are reverting openly to self-interest and away from, which is good for nuclear and bad for renewables.

The evidence is overwhelming that our high-energy civilization is better for people and nature than the low-energy civilization that climate alarmists would return us to.

My invitations from IPCC and Congress are signs of a growing openness to new thinking about climate change and the environment. Another has been to the response to my book from climate scientists, conservationists, and environmental scholars. ‘Apocalypse Never is an extremely important book,’ writes Richard Rhodes, the Pulitzer-winning author of The Making of the Atomic Bomb. ‘This may be the most important book on the environment ever written,’ says one of the fathers of modern climate science Tom Wigley.

‘We environmentalists condemn those with antithetical views of being ignorant of science and susceptible to confirmation bias,’ wrote the former head of The Nature Conservancy, Steve McCormick. ‘But too often we are guilty of the same. Shellenberger offers ‘tough love:’ a challenge to entrenched orthodoxies and rigid, self-defeating mindsets. Apocalypse Never serves up occasionally stinging, but always well-crafted, evidence-based points of view that will help develop the ‘mental muscle’ we need to envision and design not only a hopeful, but an attainable, future.’

That is all I hoped for in writing it. If you’ve made it this far, I hope you’ll agree that it’s perhaps not so strange for a lifelong environmentalist, progressive, and climate activist to speak out against the alarmism.

I further hope that you’ll accept my apology.

Prairie Fires and Progressive Liars

Cross-posted with trevorloudon.com

Preface: It is strongly recommended that you click-through to the links, as doing so will provide invaluable context.

This month marks the 46th anniversary of The Weather Underground’s issuance of its manifesto for a Marxist revolution, Prairie Fire – The Politics of Revolutionary Anti-Imperialism (July 1974).

This month also marks the 244th anniversary of our Declaration of Independence — the source document of our founding (July 4, 1776 – now celebrated as Independence Day).

The aspirations underling the two documents are now locked in existential battle, one in which there can be no compromise – only one of those visions for America can and will prevail.  Which will it be?

One might be inclined dismiss Prairie Fire as an obscure footnote in history.  But as we’ll see, it never went away, and is being executed “as we speak.” Its authors and allies followed Saul Alinsky’s advice: instead of setting bombs and marching in the streets, they burrowed into the American system in order to erode it from within, and so set the stage for revolution through subterfuge and cultural sabotage.

They’ve largely succeeded; they now feel confident enough to reemerge, albeit under cover of “social justice” and “sustainability” and “Black Lives Matter” and such.  The Left fully intends to consummate its revolutionary designs for America, and upon Americans.

This is not a drill.  These comrades of the Left – the Democrats, the Democrat Socialists, “Black Lives Matter” (BLM) and Antifa – Progressives all – are in the process of executing a Marxist-Collectivist revolution.  They are counting on the American public focusing on the above-named slogans and events occurring under those banners, and in doing so as to not realizing what’s actually taking place.

Bloomberg’s C40 Cities group of mayors: Goal is to build a more “sustainable” and “fairer” society during Wuhan virus recovery

On Thursday Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan tweeted the following:

“I am proud to be part of @c40cities and to serve on the #COVID19 recovery task force. We know that it is going to take all of us working together to keep our residents healthy, support our workers and businesses, and rebuild our economy better than before.”

She included this tweet from something called C40 Cities:

“Today, C40 mayors released a statement of principles
to build a better, more sustainable and fairer society out of the recovery from the #COVID19 crisis
. https://bit.ly/COVIDTaskForce”

The Twitter bio of C40 Cities: C40 connects 96 of the world’s leading cities taking bold climate action to build #TheFutureWeWant. Their Twitter page brags of #InThisTogether.

What is C40 Cities (known as C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group)? From Wikipedia:

“The C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group is a group of 96 cities around the world that represents one twelfth of the world’s population and one quarter of the global economy. Created and led by cities, C40 is focused on tackling climate change and driving urban action that reduces greenhouse gas emissions and climate risks, while increasing the health, wellbeing and economic opportunities of urban citizens.

As of 2019, Mayor of Los Angeles Eric Garcetti serves as the C40’s Chairperson, former Mayor of New York City Michael R. Bloomberg as President of the Board, and Mark Watts as Executive Director. All three work closely with the 13-member Steering Committee, the Board of Directors and professional staff. The rotating Steering Committee of C40 mayors provides strategic direction and governance. Steering Committee members include: Amman, Boston, Copenhagen, Durban, Hong Kong, Jakarta, London, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Milan, Paris, Seoul, and Tokyo.”

Which mayors have formally endorsed the Statement of Principles by the Global Mayors COVID-19 Recovery Task Force? The expected libtard suspects: Stephen Adler (Austin), Bill de Blasio (NYC), London Breed (San Francisco), Jenny Durkan (Seattle), Sadiq Khan (London), Lori Lighfoot (Chiraq), Martin Walsh (Boston), and Ted Wheeler (Portland).

The task force’s web page includes the following standard progressive talking points: equitable, sustainable, fairer, social equity, etc.

It is clear that the harm caused by COVID-19 has not been equitable. We, as leaders of major cities across the globe, are clear that our ambition should not be a return to ‘normal’ – our goal is to build a better, more sustainable, more resilient and fairer society out of the recovery from the COVID-19 crisis.

The recovery, above all, must be guided by an adherence to public health and scientific expertise, in order to assure the safety of those who live in our cities.

The recovery must address issues of equity that have been laid bare by the impact of the crisis – for example, workers who are now recognised as essential should be celebrated and compensated accordingly and policies must support people living in informal settlements.

Climate action can help accelerate economic recovery and enhance social equity, through the use of new technologies and the creation of new industries and new jobs. These will drive wider benefits for our residents, workers, students, businesses and visitors.”

As with most progressive tactics, their goal (transfer of wealth via equity) is never aligned with the real issue (economic recovery). Never let this Wuhan virus crisis go to waste.

Sanders receives the all-so-important endorsement of Hanoi Jane

Breitbart reports that last Friday at her latest PR stunt, Hanoi Jane endorsed Bernie Sanders for president, calling him the “climate candidate” prior to leading her latest environmental protest in Southern California.

If you really care, read all the details here.

Remember folks, private jets for me but not for thee:

Environmental hypocrite Harrison Ford mocks “son of a b**ch” President Trump

Harrison Ford’s private jet

Ford is still whining about climate change even though he cannot sacrifice his private planes. Typical Hollyweird hypocrite.

From Fox News: Harrison Ford called Donald Trump a “son of a b—-” on Monday during an appearance on late-night TV where he also accused the president of rejecting science.

Ford appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Monday to promote his upcoming movie “Call of the Wild.” After showing a clip from the movie, Kimmel held up a poster for the film that featured fake reviews labeling “Call of the Wild” a “perfect call” in various ways.

The quotes were all jokingly attributed to Donald Trump in an effort to mock the president’s go-to line about his call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which launched his impeachment inquiry in the House and subsequent trial in the Senate.

“That’s the first thing that son of a b—- has done for me … ever!” Ford said to thunderous applause and laughs from the crowd.

The Han Solo and Indiana Jones actor also claimed that science is “out the door” in the Trump administration. “We don’t believe in science anymore,” he joked. “Nobody here believes in science anymore, right?”

Ford’s comments about science come after an appearance in Mexico City earlier this month where he bashed America’s current leadership while praising young climate activist Greta Thunberg.

Our position in the world is tenuous because of our lack of moral leadership, basically,“ the 77-year-old actor said. “I certainly applaud with what Greta is inspired by, her activism or her role in representing the interests of young people and I admire her… her courage, her fortitude and also admire her capacity to express herself.”

Ford continued: “Science is being ridiculed by people in ideological campgrounds. They are refusing the wisdom, the discipline of science in favor of a political point of view. And that has to stop. And I believe young people throughout the world have known it has to stop and are capable and willing to make the sacrifices to make that happen.”
