What a coincidence: Chiraq mayor wants to reopen “as quickly as possible” a week before #notmypresident Biden’s inauguration

With less than a week to go until #notmypresident Biden’s coronation, Chiraq Mayor Lightfoot has declared that now is the time for the city to get back into business. The main reason for this declaration? “To cut down on instances of private parties where people don’t take proper precautions against COVID-19.”

Yeah, riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Remeber this: Mayor Lightfoot was sooooooooooooooo concerned about the Wuhan virus last year that she violated her own rules to get a haircut. After all, she’s in the “public eye.”

Mayor Lightfoot (r) poses with her stylist after SHE was ALLOWED a hair cut

Illinois apparently has been hard hit from the Wuhan virus. Just four days ago the state was reporting “grim” milestones.

Yet with less than a week to go until the new #notmypresident, it appears it’s time for re-opening businesses! From CBS Chicago: “Thursday morning, Lightfoot said she plans to have a conversation with Gov. JB Pritzker about how to begin rolling back virus mitigation efforts ASAP. “I want to get our restaurants and bars reopened as quickly as possible,” she said.”

Why the change of heart from the good mayor who shut down the city?

“But the mayor said the ban on indoor dining and bar service has resulted in people engaging in risky behavior in private, holding underground parties at hotels, businesses, and elsewhere, without wearing masks or keeping a safe distance from other people to limit the spread of the virus.

She said reopening bars and restaurants would give people somewhere to go unwind where business owners can enforce the proper precautions.

So all of a sudden the mayor is concerned with proper precautions? I guess so. Because obviously, too many of the Wuhan virus offenders weren’t out in the “public eye” where business owners can enforce the law.

Progressive policies in action: Homelessness in LA County expected to skyrocket by 86% in next 4 years

The street of LA…

As is the case with many progressive-run large cities, Los Angeles is facing a major homeless crisis. I’ve reported on this many times over the last several years, see the following:

Paradise lost: Homeless in demorat-run Los Angeles
Demorat-run Los Angeles County: Homeless death rate jumps by more than a third
Demorat-run Los Angeles: 124 confirmed cases of Typhus amid fears Bubonic Plague is affecting homeless
Liberal utopia of Los Angeles: Take a look at Skid Row…

After the city has spent MILLIONS each year, do you think they’ve achieved any level of success in solving their homeless crisis?

That is rhetorical, of course. Just take a look at this:

ABC7 News reports that the non-profit Economic Roundtable predicts that chronic homelessness in Los Angeles County is expected to skyrocket by 86% in next four years.

Aparently the impact of Wuhan virus is expected to be twice as bad as the financial crisis of 2008.

Los Angeles County has approximately 15,000 chronically homeless and that number is expected to DOUBLE in the next four years.

More from the ABC story: The county’s overall homeless population, which includes so-called “couch surfers” and others who bounce in and out of homelessness, is currently hovering around 66,000. The Economic Roundtable forecast pegs that number at 89,760 by 2023, a 36% increase.

Guess the common denominator: US cities set record-breaking crime/gun violence/homicides in 2020

Many in the media are blaming the increase of gun violence/homicides in U.S. cities on the Wuhan virus.

Just how bad was 2020 for violence in some American cities? Take a look at these headlines:

Seattle police report record-setting homicides in 2020
Chicago ends 2020 with 769 homicides as gun violence surges
St. Louis’ 2020 homicide rate is highest in 50 years
Shootings in Portland more than double in 2020
NYC ends 2020 with 41% spike in homicides
Minneapolis homicides and shootings up 64% compared to last four years
Milwaukee ends 2020 with record 189 homicides
San Francisco homicides are up amid the coronavirus pandemic
LA’s 2020 Murder Rate 25% Above Last Year
Louisville shatters record for homicides, nonfatal shootings in 2020

Gee, I wonder what all these cities have in common?

So is the Wuhan virus really to blame for this increase in voilence?

I’d argue that the soft-on-crime, “criminal justice reform” DAs contributed. I’d argue that the demorat mayors who allowed rioting and looting contributed. I’d argue that the demorats who support #defundthepolice contributed. I’d argue that demorat mayors who allowed Antifa free-reign (Seattle and Portland) contributed.

Most importantly, I’d argue that the criminals pulling the triggers were most responsible.

Yet we know that the media much prefers to stick to their narratives rather than the facts.

Criminal justice reform: San Francisco man on parole for robbery kills two in hit-and-run

San Francisco District Attorney, Chesa Boudin, recently won his position and ran on reforming the criminal justice system. The son of Weather Underground terrorists, he wanted to tackle racial bias in the criminal justice system and overhaul the bail system.

Translation: He wants to go soft on criminals.

In January last year, his office announced that they will no longer ask for cash bail as a condition for a defendant’s pretrial release. Instead, prosecutors would use a “risk-based system” and weigh whether a defendant might flee or pose a threat to public safety.

I wonder if this perp had to pay any cash to be paroled: “A parolee driving a stolen car struck and killed two pedestrians in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood Thursday and was captured after fleeing the scene on foot, police said.”

Details from MSN:

“Police said the suspect, a 45-year-old San Francisco resident, was on parole for robbery and was driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen at about 4 p.m. when he struck a car, then two pedestrians at Second and Mission streets.

After striking the pedestrians, police said, the suspect got out of the vehicle and fled into a nearby commercial building, where police found him within minutes and detained him.

“Absolutely awful and tragic fatal hit-and-run today in SOMA,” San Francisco Supervisor Matt Haney wrote on Twitter. “A person should not need to risk their lives when they walk or bike in SOMA or downtown. The streets are still far too dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists.

No worries though as Chesa has a solution to ensure this never happens again:

I’d argue that the “system failure” is that demorats cannot accept this fact: You can never make enough laws to guarantee good behavior from people who are willing to break the law. Some of them just need to be thrown in jail for a long time.

The priorities of Chiraq Mayor Lori Lightfoot

Chicago Mayor has her priorities double standards when it comes to Wuhan virus “restrictions.”

Back in April the good mayor violated her own social distancing mandates to get her hair cut. You see, she’s in the public eye so that made her violation A-OK.

Back in June the good mayor did nothing about a massive rally. In fact, she “encouraged the continuance of peaceful protests.”

Yet on New Year’s Eve the good mayor was very concerned about gatherings and shutdown a couple of parties and issued citations because they violated Wuhan virus rules.

According to MyFoxChicago, the city shut down two parties on Near Year’s Eve and issued seven notices to businesses for violating Wuhan virus restrictions. Citizens were doing their part to help enforce the good mayor’s rules: “City officials said they responded to 21 calls for violations of COVID-19 regulations.”

Meanwhile, the criminals keep doing what they do best in Chiraq: Ten people were shot and two killed to start out the three-day holiday weekend.

And Chiraq ended 2020 with 769 homicides — 274 more than the previous year and the most since 2016.

If you look at the Wuhan virus stats in Chiraq (don’t just read the MyFoxChicgo headlines), you’ll see that their main data dashboard highlights “positivity” rate (which has been on a decline since mid-Novembeer). And their hospital capacity numbers are not periously dangerous: ICU beds occupied are at 76.6% (pretty normal for this time of year) with Wuhan virus patients accounting for 22.1% of the ICU beds.

But the good mayor has to shutdown parties because it’s all about control. That’s her priority.

Seattle Parks’ $248M budget gets you this “safe” and “welcoming” environment

The other day, Christopher Rufo shared pictures from a Seattle Park.

Rufo is a writer who once ran for Seattle City Council. He dropped out of the race due to tolerance bullying of Seattle progressives. Read more about that story here.

Here’s what the Seattle Parks and Recreation deems to be “safe, welcoming opportunities to play, learn, contemplate, and build community:”

This is what $248,611,313 of taxpayer dollars gets you in progressive Seattle.

Have a wonderful day in this Seattle park!

Seattle repeat offender released with no charges; hours later nearly kills a man

Seattle City bureaucrat, I mean attorney, Pete Holmes

Seattle City Attorney Peter Holmes is lenient with repeat offenders. Last February in a blog post entitled, “How many convictions does it take for Seattle City Attorney to place a homeless criminal in jail after his latest assault?,” I told you how the goot attorney would not charge and throw in a jail a man who had 72 convictions (including 14 felonies). This was after the perp attempted ANOTHER assault.

Just par for the course with these progressives who want to keep criminals free in the name of “criminal justice reform.”

I’m sure 29-year-old repeat offender Ardalla Jama is quite pleased with Holmes’ decision. Jama was released from King County Jail last weekend after attacking a security guard in Seattle (he was given a conditional release from jail). Jama was re-arrested a few hours later for a brutal attack that ended with that victim being hospitalized in intensive care. Details from MSN:

“Ardalla Jama, 29, is facing several charges in connection with a fight Saturday night at City Hall Park, which is located a few blocks away from the county jail.

Prosecutors said Jama allegedly kicked and stomped the victim’s head after he fell to the ground, and a witness said Jama continued his attack on the victim even after he lost consciousness. The victim, whose identity was not immediately disclosed, suffered significant wounds to his face and head. Information about his condition was pending.

Following that attack, Jama was again taken into custody, marking his sixth arrest so far this year in cases that often involve violence.”

Jama’s has previously been arrested for assault, malicious mischief, harassment and property destruction. He was also charged with felony harassment in 2017, but was found incompetent to stand trial due to concerns about his mental fitness.

Seattle, like many demorat-run cities who are soft on criminals, has seen an increase in shootings and crime in general. Seattle’s homicides are the highest in decades and burglaries, arson, and motor vehicle thefts are also up.

With demorats in charge, this is what you get when you want “progress” in your city.

Liberal logic in Seattle: Thoughts on policing

While reading this “Thoughts on policing in Seattle” rant below, keep the following in mind:

Seattle’s ten-year plan to end homeless originated in 2005. In Seattle/King County they currently spend ONE BILLION taxpayer dollars annually to “fight” homelessness. Today, public homelessness has never been this bad across Seattle.

Seattle and King County bureaucrats do not punish repeat criminal offenders. Just a year ago a King County judge spoke about why repeat offenders receive no punishments: “We’re just talking about property crime.”

A young (28-year-old) Seattle business owner shared the following on TwitLonger:

“I currently manage a small business in Seattle, and this month I’ve experienced more crime than ever- burglary, break in attempts, shoplifting, shoplifting while I was cleaning up after the burglary. Today I was asked to do an interview with Jonathan Choe of KOMO News, and after some thought and discussion, I’ve declined to do it. He was reporting on the suspect who will be in court tomorrow, not for our burglary (though he was arrested that same night with our merchandise under his arm, still tagged) but for assaulting a police officer, later that week. While on the phone, Mr. Choe indicated that this would be a report on the current state of prosecution in Seattle, and while I’m still very much angry, and very hurt, by what’s happened to my place of work (thousands of dollars of damage in an otherwise exhausting, challenging year! An injured employee! Sleepless nights!), I do not trust that my words on camera would not be turned into propaganda.

The arrest of the burglar gives me no joy, and no security. It will not pay for the smashed windows or damaged and destroyed product. Yes, it deeply disturbs me that I do not feel safe in my community and that as it stands now, I feel vulnerable to criminals. But it upsets me even more that I knew there would be no protection and that I could not trust the people who claim to serve and protect to do any of that. It scares me even just putting these words out into the world, I fear retaliation. We are a very small business and this has been a very tough year. I wish I trusted the systems that are supposed to be in place to protect us to do more. I wish I felt like the tax dollars we pay did something besides brutalizing protesters and the unhoused. The morning after the burglary, I stood among the wreckage and I just felt- sad. Our burglar is a repeat offender and drug user, and at that moment it felt like I was sitting under a collapsed house of cards. His arrest and incarceration wouldn’t pay for the damage. It wouldn’t save us from losing our insurance and thus our lease (if it comes to that.) It will only make it harder for him to break out of a cycle of violence. And I looked out the door, at the encampments and the people who wander our neighborhood every day, and I saw all of it feeding back into each other like a terrible oroboros of suffering.

If only we had systems to help people before they felt they needed to smash windows. There are people doing incredible mutual aid work here in Seattle. But the system itself is too broken to save. I am sick to death of people asking me “aren’t you worried there will be more of this if we defund SPD?” No, what I’m afraid of is more of this as more and more people end up on the streets in the cold, victims of evictions and mounting debts. I am afraid of more and more tax dollars bleeding into the pocket of the police officer who sometimes sits outside our shop, blocking our door with his cruiser, sleeping behind the wheel, always leaving before sundown. I am afraid for the regulars I have who are unhoused, who are good people, kind people, who have been unlucky in life. I am afraid to call police because I am afraid to be the reason someone is killed.

I am just one person. I don’t have answers. Right now it’s a challenge just surviving, and I am overwhelmed, exhausted, and afraid. It seems easier to close this document and leave it as a diary entry rather than sharing it. But with KOMO News waiting breathlessly to report on Seattle as a war zone, I want to be heard by someone. If this city is a war zone it is of the SPD’s own making. Everyone wants to fetishize my fear and anger against one criminal, and I am scared, and I am angry. But no one wants to hear about the people from the unhoused community who saw us standing in the night and checked in to offer words of support, or plywood for our windows. This city is not a war zone- it feels dangerous right now, but the danger is in the fabric of society allowing inequality to pull it apart. Jeff Bezos and Jenny Durkan have done more to make me feel unsafe than the encampments, but no one’s rushing to interview me about that.

As always, these words are my own views and not necessarily representative of my business as a whole. Defund SPD, shop local, Black Lives Matter. And please be kind. It’s the holidays, for f*ck’s sake.”

This is a clear example of why people in Seattle keep electing progressives who only make conditions worse in that city.
