Man who advocated for immigrants killed by illegal alien who was ordered to be deported 8 months ago

Sean Buchanan: Permanently separated from his family

If you’re wondering what type of immigrants he probably advocated for, keep in mind that legal immigrants don’t need an advocate.

From Daily Mail: A staunch supporter of the rights of immigrants – and a married father of five – was killed last week when an illegal immigrant from El Salvador facing deportation crashed into his motorcycle in Colorado.

Sean Buchanan, 45, was driving northbound on Highway 83 on August 2 when Colorado State Patrol say a southbound truck operated by Miguel Ramirez Valiente went off the side of the road, then over-corrected into the wrong lane and crashed into Buchanan’s bike, killing him.

Valiente, an undocumented immigrant who was slated for deportation eight months earlier, was charged with misdemeanor careless driving with a revoked license in the deadly accident.

In an ironic twist, Buchanan was known among friends a passionate advocate for all immigrants.

Officials do not suspect that drugs, alcohol or excessive speed played a role in the collision, reported The Colorado Springs Gazette.

Valiente has a criminal record in Colorado that includes a 2018 conviction for a DUI charge, which earned him a year’s probation and the revocation of his license, and a guilty plea to a charge of reckless endangerment in a child neglect case.

On August 1, less than 24 hours before the deadly crash that killed Buchanan, Valiente’s probation was extended because he had failed to complete his court-ordered treatment program and community service.

He made national headlines in January when he sought sanctuary at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church in January to avoid deportation to El Salvador during the federal government shutdown. ‘I can’t be separated from them,’ he said at a press conference at the time, according to The Denver Channel. ‘I have always worked hard to support my family, and they depend on me.’

But according to a close acquaintance of Valiente’s speaking to The Denver Channel on condition of anonymity, the reality of his life was far from the public image he had sought to create. ‘This family deserves to know who they’re dealing with,’ she said. ‘He’s an alcoholic and an abuser.’

The woman argued that the fatal accident that took Buchanan’s life could have been prevented, especially given Valiente’s history of run-ins with the law.

‘My personal opinion is that we don’t do enough to stop this kind of thing because it could have been stopped,’ she said. ‘You’re here and you’re a hard worker and you’re not causing trouble and doing bad things, that’s fine, but he had already been in trouble, several times, and now we have a death because of it.’

Buchanan had just started a new job in communications. His wife of 16 years, Kathy Wierenga Buchanan, is the author of The Brio series of books for teenage girls, and a writer and director for Adventures in Odyssey, an Evangelical Christian radio show produced by the conservative organization Focus on the Family.

The Buchanans have five children: daughters Jasyln, 15, Maleah, 12 and Bella, 10, and two sons they adopted from Burundi, eight-year-old Michla and six-year-old Divin.

Mexican government vows legal action against US in response to El Paso shooting

From MyFoxChicago: The Mexican government on Sunday threatened legal action against the United States for its response to Saturday’s mass shooting at Walmart in El Paso, Texas that left 20 people dead, including six Mexican nationals.

Mexico’s Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard made the announcement in a video posted to Twitter, in which he expressed indignation for the mass shooting at the Cielo Vista Mall.

“The president of the Republic has instructed me so that this posture and indignation from Mexico is translated, first in protecting affected families, and then in legal actions, efficient and prompt, quick and convincing so that Mexico can demand the conditions to protect to the Mexican-American community and Mexicans in the United States,” Ebrard said.

He called Saturday’s shooting “an act of barbarism.” Ebrard didn’t offer specifics but said Mexico would take action to protect its citizens living in the U.S.

“What happened is inadmissible and today, at 4 p.m., we will announce the first judicial actions that the Mexican government will take in accordance to international law,” he added.

Among the 20 killed are six Mexican citizens and seven injured. Mexico revised the number of its citizens killed Sunday from three to six.

“Today, unfortunately, the update provided by the FBI… the regrettable part is that they’ve confirmed that 6 Mexicans have lost their lives, and there are 7 injured in El Paso, Texas,” Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said.

Ebrard said five of the Mexican citizens killed were: Sara Regalado, Adolfo Cerros Hernandez, Jorge Calvillo Garcia, Elsa Mendoza de la Mora, and Gloria Irma Marquez. The sixth victim has not been identified.

El Paso, home to 680,000 residents, sits across the southern border from Cuidad Juarez in the Mexican state of Chihuahua.

The gunman, (name purposely omitted), 21, of Allen, Texas, was charged with capital murder. Investigators are looking into a manifesto they believe he wrote that could be a “nexus to a hate crime.”

———————————–

You want to talk about “protecting affected families,” Mexico? How about taking care of corralling your OWN criminals who KILL/RAPE/HARM American citizens? See the following examples:

Illegal alien who murdered Kate Steinle found not guilty by SF jury
Sanctuary King County, WA: Convicted rapist and illegal alien freed after 9 months returns to attack his disabled victim second time
For Mollie Tibbetts, killed by an illegal, it’s racist to oppose illegal immigration

Mexican illegal immigrant who was deported 16 years ago ‘snuck back into the US and raped a sleeping nine-year-old girl’
New Jersey teen rescued from illegal immigrant who abducted, raped her
Mexican Rapists

What happened to the American citizens mentioned above and the hundreds of others attacked/killed at the hands of Mexican illegal aliens is “inadmissible.”

Before they start threatening the U.S, I suggest Mexico teach their OWN citizens about international law.

Trump administration scores win over challenge to asylum restriction

I’d say the American people scored a win.

From Fox News: A federal judge decided Wednesday to leave in place a Trump administration rule that imposes restrictions on individuals seeking asylum in the United States if they passed through a third country on their way to the border between the U.S. and Mexico, potentially leading to a sharp reduction in Central American migrants entering the country.

The rule, published in the Federal Register last week, requires people seeking asylum to first apply in one of the countries they pass through on their way to the U.S., with certain exceptions. The rule was quickly met with a legal challenge from advocacy groups, who moved for a temporary restraining order blocking the rule. After a hearing in Washington, D.C. federal court, District Judge Timothy J. Kelly denied the motion. The rule will remain in place for the duration of the case, unless the decision is successfully appealed.

“We are disappointed in the court’s decision today,” said Claudia Cubas, litigation direction for the Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights Coalition.

Kelly, who was appointed to the bench by President Trump said the immigrant advocate groups who filed the lawsuit did not show that their work would be irreparably harmed if the policy moved forward.

With certain exceptions, the rule requires individuals to apply for and be denied asylum in another country in order to apply in the U.S. That means that migrants from Central American nations who travel through Mexico – who make up a significant portion of recent asylum seekers – will not be eligible for asylum in America unless they previously applied for asylum in Mexico or any other country they traversed and were turned down.

The new rule’s exceptions include certain cases of human trafficking.

The rule is meant to crack down on asylum seekers coming to the U.S. more for economic reasons than to escape persecution in their home countries. Administration officials say this could help close the gap between the initial asylum screening that most people pass and the final decision on asylum that most people do not win. The goal in part is to allow quicker determinations in these cases.

The policy follows the Trump administration’s Migrant Protection Protocols, commonly referred to as the “remain in Mexico” policy. Under that policy, asylum seekers were often told to go back to Mexico to await hearings, rather than be allowed to remain in the U.S.

Democrats railed against that policy, with 2020 hopeful Beto O’Rourke calling it “inhumane.”

A reduction in asylum seekers would ease the burden on federal agencies currently overwhelmed by the volume of individuals seeking entry into the U.S.

Detention facilities have been notoriously stretched for resources, resulting in outcries against the government. The criticism has particularly been strong when it comes to the conditions in which migrant children have been kept.

Petition to recall California Gov. Gavin Newsom

There is a petition on Change.org to recall California governor Gavin Newsom.

The petition says:

Governor Gavin Newsom in addition to Governor Jerry Brown have declared California a Sanctuary State, importing illegal immigrants to replace the people of California, and give them California’s tax payer funded goods and services in order to alter the voting demographics against Americans, and in favor of Democrats.

Recently, in 2019 within months of taking office, Governor Gavin Newsom pulled troops off the southern border when President Trump attempted to stop illegal immigrant caravans from entering the United States which threaten all of the United States not just California, and continues to allow immigrants to flow into California threw the Southern border.

Because Democrat Governor Jerry Brown and his Lieutenant Governor, now Governor Gavin Newsom declared California a Sanctuary State.  These policies have rapidly increased California prison population and homeless encampments with illegal immigrants, and impacted public schools, and prohibit State Law Enforcement to cooperate with Federal Law Enforcement, ie ICE who’s job is to deport illegal immigrant criminal offenders.

Californians did not vote for Sanctuary Cities, or for California to feud with President Trump to bring in illegal immigrants to replace Californian citizens.

Therefore, here is a petition to Recall Governor Gavin Newsom.  If you agree please sign the Petition.

Thank you for your time.  Make California Great Again!

For more information on the process to recall a California Governor, goto: https://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/recalls/procedure-recalling-state-and-local-officials/

Armed Antifa man dies in Washington State after threatening police at illegal alien detention center

Antifa terrorist Van Spronsen taken out by law enforcement

Funny, on Sunday afternoon I searched for the perp’s name on CNN, MSNBC, HuffPo, CBS News, Slate, and Vox News and found ZERO stories related to this dead Antifa goon. Imagine my surprise…

From BBC: An armed man who attacked an immigration detention centre in the US city of Tacoma died after police officers opened fire, authorities say.

Police said they received reports that a man, armed with a rifle, was throwing “incendiary devices” at the Northwest Detention Center early on Saturday.

He was later identified as Willem Van Spronsen, who was reportedly involved in an earlier protest at the centre.

The shooting came a day before a major deportation operation was due to begin. The raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials will target hundreds of immigrant families across 10 cities who have recently been ordered deported but have not yet left the country. It marks the latest move in US President Donald Trump’s crackdown on migration.

Sunday’s raids are not expected to affect Tacoma.

A police spokesperson told Reuters the incident on Saturday took place several hours after a peaceful rally outside the Washington state facility protesting against immigrant detentions.

In a statement, the Tacoma Police Department said the four police officers involved in the shooting had been placed on administrative leave, as is standard procedure in such cases, and an investigation into the incident was underway.

Police arrived at the privately run Northwest Detention Center at about 04:00 local time (11:00 GMT) after receiving reports that a man was throwing “incendiary devices” at the facility and at vehicles in the car park, the statement said. The man allegedly set a vehicle on fire and attempted to ignite a propane tank and set buildings on fire.

Officers said he was wearing a satchel and carrying flares.

Tacoma Police Department confirmed that all four officers opened fire on the suspect, while it remains unclear if he fired at the officers. He was found shot dead at the scene. A police official said it could not yet be confirmed who was responsible for his death.

Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office identified Van Spronsen, a man in his late 60s, on Saturday night, according to local media reports.

He was reportedly accused of assaulting a police officer during a protest at the same centre last year.

Court documents cited by local media outlets said he wrapped his arms around the officer’s neck and shoulders, as the officer was trying to detain another protester. After handcuffing him, police found that he had a collapsible baton and folding knife in his pocket.

A friend of Van Spronsen described him to the Seattle Times newspaper as an anarchist and anti-fascist. She said she believes he planned to provoke a fatal conflict with his actions on Saturday. “I think this was a suicide. But then he was able to kind of do it in a way that spoke to his political beliefs,” she said.

Northwest Detention Centre holds migrants pending deportation proceedings and has also held immigration-seeking parents separated from their children, the Associated Press reports.

GEO Group, which runs the facility, told the Associated Press that “baseless accusations” about how detainees are treated there “have led to misplaced aggression and a dangerous environment for our employees, whose safety is our top priority”.

Senator Tillis of NC introduces the Justice for Victims of Sanctuary Cities Act

Senator Thom Tillis

Good.

From the Senator’s web page (July 9):

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) introduced the Justice for Victims of Sanctuary Cities Act, legislation that holds sanctuary jurisdictions accountable for failing to comply with lawful detainer and release notification requests made by federal authorities and jeopardizing public safety. Joining Tillis as original co-sponsors are Senators Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Joni Ernst (R-IA), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), and Ted Cruz (R-TX).

The legislation creates a private right of civil action for the victims of sanctuary jurisdictions, allowing them to bring an action for compensatory damages against the sanctuary jurisdiction as a result of a violent crime committed by an illegal immigrant. Any sanctuary city or jurisdiction that refuses to waive its immunity as it relates to sanctuary-related civil action would be subject to the withholding of certain Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding.

The Justice for Victims of Sanctuary Cities Act is a direct response to a growing number of sanctuary jurisdictions across the nation (including North Carolina’s Buncombe, Cumberland, Durham, Forsyth, Guilford, Mecklenburg, and Wake Counties) that either have official sanctuary policies or are refusing to comply with detainer requests and release notifications from the Department of Homeland Security.

Earlier this month, the Mecklenburg County (NC) Sheriff’s Office refused to notify ICE and comply with a lawful detainer request when it released a dangerous illegal immigrant from county jail who was charged with multiple domestic violence charges for strangling a woman and threatening to kill her. This was only one of more than 20 troubling instances this year of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office releasing potentially dangerous individuals after refusing to comply with detainer requests. The reckless sanctuary policy prompted criticism from the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina.

“It’s disturbing to see sheriffs across North Carolina establish sanctuary jurisdictions, releasing dangerous individuals back into communities while refusing to notify federal immigration officials,” said Senator Thom Tillis. “If politicians want to prioritize reckless sanctuary policies over public safety, they should also be willing to provide just compensation for the victims. The Justice for Victims of Sanctuary Cities Act is commonsense legislation that will enhance public safety and hold sanctuary jurisdictions accountable for their refusal to cooperate with federal law enforcement.”

“A good piece of legislation that is long overdue,” said Senator Lindsey Graham. “There must be consequences for governments and entities that gamble with public safety, refuse to work with federal officials, and refuse to deal with felons here illegally. This legislation empowers individuals who are the victims of these entities and governments’ poor decisions.”

“If state and local public officials jeopardize the safety and security of the American people by refusing to comply with federal immigration law, they should be held to account by our citizens when such reckless endangerment leads to more violent crime,” said Senator Chuck Grassley. “We are a nation of laws. Whether you are a citizen, immigrant or even a local government, disregarding those laws should carry consequences.”

“Sanctuary jurisdictions are failing to cooperate with law enforcement authorities, jeopardizing the safety of our communities,” said Senator Joni Ernst. “This is a serious problem that needs to be addressed. Our commonsense bill will put a check on these sanctuary jurisdictions, provide a pathway for victims of crimes committed by illegal immigrants to seek justice, and enhance and promote public safety.”

Our nation’s laws exist for a reason. When a sanctuary city or state recklessly decides to harbor illegal immigrants who may commit crimes against innocent Americans, the families of those victims deserve the right to seek compensation from those jurisdictions,” said Senator Marsha Blackburn. “It’s time we put the public safety of our citizens above the sanctuary of an immigrant who has come to our country illegally.”

“The American people, and Texas communities in particular, are tired of seeing our federal immigration laws flouted and criminal illegal immigrants enabled to commit future crimes and escape prosecution,” said Senator Ted Cruz. “Sanctuary cities and their policies are a dangerous affront to the rule of law, and only exasperate the crisis at our border. I am proud to join my colleagues in holding these jurisdictions accountable, and will continue working to enforce our federal immigration laws and ensure the safety and security of the American people.”

Hell has frozen over: HuffPo reports that Salvadoran president accepts blame for death of migrant father and daughter

Bukele (l) admits responsibility

I was COMPLETELY shocked to see this story on HuffPo Monday night.

What DIDN’T shock me was the fact that there was only one comment on the article (at the time I scheduled this post) asking why there were no comments: “Where are all the people who were blaming republicans and trump the other day?”

Doesn’t fit the narrative, apparently…

From HuffPo: The president of El Salvador addressed the viral photo of a migrant father and his young daughter who drowned trying to seek asylum in the United States on Sunday, casting blame on his own country for pushing Salvadorans to seek a safer place to live.

“People don’t flee their homes because they want to,” Nayib Bukele, the Salvadoran president, said during a news conference this weekend. “They flee their homes because they feel they have to.”

Bukele’s comments came after a photographer shared an image of Óscar Alberto Martínez Ramírez and his 23-month-old daughter, Valeria, who drowned while trying to cross the Rio Grande into Texas. In the image, Ramírez can be seen face down with Valeria tucked inside his shirt, his arm around her body, presumably to protect her during the dangerous passage.

The photo has quickly been cast as an emblematic image of President Donald Trump’s hard-line immigration policies to rein in migration across the southern border with Mexico. The White House has forced many asylum seekers to wait in Mexico as part of a new policy to discourage people from seeking refuge in the U.S., but critics say it’s “not safe” for those who are already vulnerable. The Mexican government said earlier this month more than 15,000 people have been sent back to the country as part of Trump’s “remain in Mexico” policy.

Bukele, who took office a month ago, has pledged to make El Salvador a safer place for its citizens during his tenure. Tens of thousands of people from around South America have traveled toward the U.S., fleeing violence and poverty with the hope of finding a better life in America, and Bukele told the BBC that he understood why people like Ramírez would undertake the perilous journey north.

“They fled El Salvador, they fled our country,” the president said. “It is our fault. … Why? Because they don’t have a job, because they are being threatened by gangs, because they don’t have basic things like water, education, health.”

He went on to note that he believed migration should be an option for those dissatisfied with their lives but “not an obligation.”

“We can blame any other country, but what about our blame? What country did they flee? Did they flee the United States?” Bukele asked. “They fled El Salvador.”

The bodies of Ramírez and his daughter were returned to El Salvador earlier this week, and they were buried during a small private ceremony, The New York Times reported.
