Animals: MS-13 members stab 16-year-old 100 times for wanting out

Supposedly calling people “animals” is not a good thing. In this case, “animals” is too kind of a word.

From NY Post: Five MS-13 members stabbed a 16-year-old fellow gangbanger 100 times because he wanted out of his crew — and then drove his corpse to Virginia, where they torched it, the victim’s mother said.

Maryland cops identified the victim, Jacson Pineda-Chicas, after releasing a photo of a tattoo on his left arm, Fox News reported.

The teen’s mom told NBC4 in Washington that she and her son fled El Salvador after he was strong-armed to join MS-13 there.

When her son’s sadistic gang pals accused him of talking to cops, and threatened to kill his family, he offered himself up, the mom told the outlet.

“He had to take knives to defend himself, and screwdrivers,” she told the station. “He had razors and he told me, ‘Mom, I’m going to defend myself with them, but it’s not going to be enough.”

Police in Prince George’s County said Pineda-Chicas was killed in a home 60 miles away in Landover Hills, Md., that belonged to Jose Ordonez-Zometa, 29, the head of a Virginia branch of the MS-13, Fox News reported.

The teen’s body was dumped on the side of the road in Stafford, Va., March 9, cops said.

Ordonez-Zometa is also charged with participating in the vicious slaying. Police said the other suspects were Jonathan Castillo-Rivera, 20; Kevin Rodriguez-Flores, 18; Christian Martinez-Ramirez, 16, and Jose Hernandez-Garcia, 25, the report said.

“To hear somebody was stabbed 100 times … pretty much speaks for itself how violent the attack would have been,” Maj. Brian Reilly said at a Friday news conference.

12 Republican senators voted against Trump’s national emergency to build border wall

Bridget Bowman reports for Roll Call that yesterday, 12 Republican senators joined every Demonrat senator in voting for a resolution to block President Trump invoking a national emergency at the southern border so as to build the wall with defense funds. Trump had declared a national emergency last month after the Democrat-dominant House refused to appropriate his requested $5+ billion funds for a border wall.

See “The Trump Show” on Trump’s declaration of national emergency to build border wall, and “Ann Coulter: By signing the budget deal, Trump signs away his right as CIC to build the wall“.

The resolution passed the Senate, 59-41, after passing the House late last month.

The Gang of 12 Republicans includes so-called “moderate” senators — one of whom is up for re-election in 2020 — and so-called “conservatives”. 6 of the 12 serve on the Senate Appropriations Committee.

Here are the 12 Republican senators who voted to thwart President Trump’s national emergency declaration:

(1) Sen. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee: A 3-term senator and member of the Appropriations Committee said in a statement yesterday ahead of the vote that although he supports the president on border security, the emergency declaration sets a dangerous precedent: “His declaration to take an additional $3.6 billion that Congress has appropriated for military hospitals, barracks and schools is inconsistent with the U.S. Constitution that I swore an oath to support and defend.” Alexander announced last December that he would not run for re-election in 2020.

(2) Sen. Roy Blunt of Missouri: A senior member of the Appropriations Committee, Blunt is concerned about the precedent Trump’s declaration of emergency would set. Blunt was re-elected to a second Senate term in 2016. (He served several terms in the House before running for Senate in 2010.)

(3) Sen. Susan Collins of Maine: Not only is this POS pro-late term abortions, Collins actually co-sponsored the resolution ostensiblyout of concern for the precedent an emergency declaration would set for the powers of the executive branch. The four-term senator is likely to face her toughest re-election next year, with Democrats raising millions of dollars for a yet-to-be-determined challenger after she voted for Supreme Court Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh.

(4) Sen. Mike Lee of Utah: First elected in 2010, Lee announced his support for the resolution Wednesday after Trump rejected Lee’s offer of a compromise to curtail future national emergency declarations through an amendment of the National Emergencies Act to include the automatic termination of future emergencies after 30 days unless Congress authorizes the emergency to continue. Lee said in a statement announcing his decision that “For decades, Congress has been giving far too much legislative power to the executive branch.”  One of the most conservative senators, Lee is up for re-election in 2022.

(5) Sen. Jerry Moran of Kansas: A member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Moran tweeted that “I share President Trump’s goal of securing our borders, but expanding the powers of the presidency beyond its constitutional limits is something I cannot support.” Moran is up for a third term in 2022.

(6) Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska: Another pro-abort POS, Murkowski said in a floor speech earlier this month: “Congress is a co-equal branch of government and as such Congress should stand up for itself.” She is not up for re-election until 2022.

(7) Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky: Earlier this month, Paul announced at a GOP Lincoln Day dinner that he would support the resolution because Congress did not appropriate the funds Trump was looking to use for the border wall, and “If we take away those checks and balances, it’s a dangerous thing.” A self-described libertarian, Paul was re-elected to the Senate in 2016 after a failed White House bid, and he will not face voters again until 2022.

(8) Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio: Portman had worked with Mike Lee on the compromise resolution. The two-term senator said that while he supported Trump’s request for border wall funding, an emergency declaration is not necessary to secure those funds, and that the declaration would set a “dangerous precedent” by opening “the door for future presidents to implement just about any policy they want.” Portman won re-election by more than 20 points in 2016 and won’t face voters again until 2022.

(9) Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah: Although Romney is a freshman senator, he entered the Senate with a high profile as his party’s 2012 presidential nominee and the former governor of Massachusetts. Critical of Trump in the past, even before Trump officially declared a national emergency, Romney said he “would also expect the president stay within statutory and constitutional limits.” Romney won the open Utah Senate race in 2018 by 32 points, and he is not up for re-election again until 2024.

(10) Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida: Like the others, Rubio too warned of the precedent set by Trump’s national emergency. A member of Senate Appropriations, he said in February that while he agrees there is a crisis at the southern border, “a future president may use this exact same tactic to impose the Green New Deal.” Rubio won re-election by 8 points in 2016 after an unsuccessful run for the GOP nomination for president. Trump carried Florida by just 1 point in 2016.

(11) Sen. Patrick J. Toomey of Pennsylvania: A “conservative” Republican, Toomey had occasionally broken with President Trump in the past, particularly on Trump’s use of tariffs. Toomey told the Philadelphia Inquirer that he supports Trump’s effort to build a border wall, but the declaration of a national emergency was “a very important separation of powers issue.” Toomey narrowly won re-election in 2016 when Trump won Pennsylvania by less than a point.

(12) Sen. Roger Wicker of Mississippi: The two-term senator, who’s the chairman of the Commerce Committee and the second-highest-ranked Republican on the Armed Services Committee, also had “serious reservations” about what an emergency declaration would do to the separation of powers. Wicker said in a statement earlier this week: “The precedent we set this year might empower a future liberal President to declare emergencies to enact gun control or to address ‘climate emergencies,’ or even to tear down the wall we are building today.” Wicker, an Air Force veteran, won re-election comfortably last fall in a state Trump carried by nearly 20 points in 2016.

Today, President Trump used his veto powers for the first time to overturn the Congressional resolution, calling it “reckless”. He said: “Today I am vetoing this resolution. Congress has the freedom to pass this resolution and I have the duty to veto it.” To override his veto would require two-thirds of the vote in both the House and the Senate, and the Senate doesn’t have the 67 votes needed for an override. (New York Post).

For all the Gang of 12’s concerns about the separation of powers and Trump setting a “dangerous precedent” by declaring a state of national emergency, one would think such declarations are rarely invoked.

Not so.

The fact of the matter is there have been 58 national emergencies declared by presidents since 1979 under the National Emergencies Act of 1975, 31 of which are still active national emergencies. Below are the number of national emergencies declared by President Carter and after:

  • Jimmy Carter: 2 — one of which is still active.
  • Ronald Reagan: 6 — none of which is active.
  • George H.W. Bush: 5 — none of which is active.
  • Bill Clinton: 17 — 6 of which are still in effect.
  • Barack Obama: 13 — 11 of which are still active.
  • Donald Trump: 3. (Source: CBS News, citing the Brennan Center)

Illegal Alien Charged with Murder Had Been Arrested and Released Nine Times

Here is  yet another reason to build the wall, close our southern border, and strictly enforce existing immigration law.

A homeless man arrested on Monday, March 11, for stabbing a San Jose woman to death last month was an illegal alien who had been ordered detained by federal authorities nine times, officials said Tuesday. But the man, who had multiple convictions for misdemeanor and felony offenses, was released from the Santa Clara County California jail twice in the months before the killing.

From the San Jose Mercury News: Nico Savidge March 13, 2019:

On Tuesday, San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo issued a sharply-worded criticism of the county’s policy of not honoring federal immigration detention orders at the jail. Liccardo said the policy “undermines public safety, and violates common sense.”

San Jose Police Chief Eddie Garcia joined with Liccardo and Santa Clara County Sheriff Laurie Smith in criticizing the policy Tuesday. At a press conference, Garcia said he was well aware of the ways in which the case probably would be politicized amid a heated national debate over immigration and local “sanctuary” policies meant to protect undocumented residents from federal authorities.

But, Garcia said, there was a distinction between protecting and embracing “otherwise law-abiding undocumented residents” and policies that he said “shield admitted gangsters or violent criminals.”

“When we have violent or serious offenders that are preying on our community, we must have the ability to protect our residents,” Garcia said.

Police arrested 24-year-old Carlos Eduardo Arevalo-Carranza on Monday in the death of 59-year-old Bambi Larson, who was found dead in her home on Knollfield Way on the afternoon of Feb. 28.

Arevalo-Carranza, a native of El Salvador, had been living in the country illegally, and was the subject of at least nine “detainers” from U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement since 2016, according to Erik Bonnar, the agency’s acting field director the agency’s San Francisco field office.

Under those detainers, local law enforcement agencies hold immigrants for up to two days until ICE agents can take custody of them. Santa Clara County has not honored them since 2011.

Garcia said Arevalo-Carranza had been arrested several times in Santa Clara County in recent years for a string of charges, most recently when he was arrested in January on charges of possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia. He had also been arrested in October. But Garcia said Arevalo-Carranza was never turned over to ICE because of the county’s policy of ignoring federal detention orders.

Bonnar leaped to criticize the county in a statement Tuesday, writing that it “allowed Arevalo-Carranza back on the streets to reoffend.”

“These sanctuary policies have unintended, but very real, and often tragic consequences to public safety,” Bonnar said.

Liccardo said he would like the county to honor ICE detention orders for “prior first-degree home burglaries and other ‘strike’ offenses.” Garcia did not describe specific changes he would like to see to the policies, but said he believes local law enforcement should be involved in the conversations.

Smith, who as sheriff runs the Santa Clara County Jail, said Arevalo-Carranza should have been held for federal officials.

“It has been my long-standing position that all undocumented immigrants who are a serious or violent felon, should be held for ICE evaluations,” Smith said.

Authorities have not been able to determine any connection between Arevalo-Carranza and Larson, Garcia said, though they believe he “stalked” the quiet South San Jose neighborhood where the crime occurred.

Larson’s son had gone to check on his mother on the afternoon of Feb. 28 after he said coworkers told him she had not shown up to work that day. He found her covered in blood in her apartment.

Monday Funnies! 2019 Plumber of the Year Award

The awards season is upon us.

Last night, Hollyweirdos once again misused the Academy Awards as their political platform to trash President Trump’s immigration policy and, in so doing, display their utter contempt for the Deplorables — the 62.979 million Americans who’d voted for Trump in 2016.

See “Hollyweirdos use 2019 Oscars Awards to trash border wall and Trump’s immigration policy

You won’t find politics in the 2019 Plumber of the Year Award!

Here are the finalists:

And the winner of the 2019 Plumber of the Year Award goes to . . . .

Hollyweirdos use 2019 Oscars Awards to trash border wall and Trump’s immigration policy

Such arrogance! Such gall!

Once again, the Academy Awards show last night was used as a political soapbox. Extremely overpaid people who lie for a living, aka actors, deem themselves our superiors in moral judgment and political knowledge by lecturing down to us.

Variety reports:

[T]his year’s Oscar telecast…played out like a response to Trump, his policies, and even his persona, even though his name wasn’t even mentioned.

“The 2020 presidential election is around the corner. Let’s all mobilize. Let’s all be on the right side of history,” said Spike Lee, who won his first Oscar for the screenplay to “BlacKkKlansman.”

Jose Andres, a Trump nemesis, joining with Diego Luna to introduce best picture nominee “Roma,” said the movie “reminds us of the understanding and compassion that we all owe to the invisible people in our lives — immigrants and women — who move humanity forward.”

Hillary Clinton reinforced the point when she tweeted, “Well said, @chefjoseandres #Oscars.”

“There are no borders or walls that can restrain ingenuity and talent,” said Javier Bardem as he presented best foreign language film, his words translated in English subtitles….

Best actor winner Rami Malek noted that Freddie Mercury was an immigrant, and that he was “the son of immigrants from Egypt, a first-generation American.”

Maya Rudolph, presenting along with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, took a dig at the Academy’s foibles and at the president. “There’s no host, there won’t be a popular movie category, and Mexico is not paying for the wall.”

The Nielsen ratings for last night’s Oscars are not yet published. I didn’t watch the show; the last time I watched was 15 years ago, in 2004, when the Lord of the Rings: Return of the King won 11 Academy Awards. Last year’s broadcast was the least-watched in modern history with 26.5 million viewers tuning in.

Latina arrested for assaulting man wearing MAGA hat

Fox News reports that on Feb. 15, 2019, Rosaine Santos, 41, was arrested for asasulting Bryton Turner, 23, at Casa Vallarta, a Mexican restaurant in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

Rosaine Santos, an immigrant from Brazil living in Falmouth, was charged with disorderly conduct, assault and battery.

According to police, Santos was upset that Turner had the audacity to wear a MAGA hat, Boston 25 reported.

Turner told police that he was minding his own business when Santos started yelling at him because of his hat. Annoyed by the woman’s antics, he pulled out his phone and started recording her.

In the video, Santos is seen walking behind him and hitting his hat off his head.

Speaking into his phone, Turner said: “That’s the problem – the problem with American these days, people are just ignorant.”

Turner uploaded the video to his Facebook page. Click here.

When police arrived at the restaurant, Santos told them Turner should not be allowed to eat at a Mexican restaurant because of his support for President Trump, who is pushing to building a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.

As police escorted Santos out of the restaurant, she took another swipe at Turner.

Santos actually has the audacity to claim she is the victim. She told Boston 25:

“I had a little bit to drink maybe that’s the reason that I couldn’t walk away but being discriminated for so many times in my life, I just had to stand up for myself. He’s not a victim. I am the victim. I have been bullied, OK?”

But an eyewitness — Geo Macarao, a bartender at the restaurant — confirms Turner’s account. Macaro told Boston 25 Turner had just ordered food when Santos started attacking him unprovoked.

Nancy Pelosi wished everyone ‘Happy Thanksgiving’ on Valentine’s Day

Celebrating President Trump’s signing of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2019 (aka budget deal) that provides only $1.4 billion for “pedestrian fencing,” not walls, along the US-Mexican border, instead of the $5+ billion requested by Trump, Nancy Pelosi had another episode of what some politely call “brain-freeze”. She said:

“Happy Valentine’s Day. We saluted our victory – or the victory for the American people – earlier with chocolate. Chocolate from California, I call it the champagne of chocolate. So again, I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. You should go home now to your loved ones.”

This is not the first time Pelosi had “brain freeze”. She often slurs her speech and appears disoriented.

It is not far-fetched to suspect the Speaker of the House has senile dementia.

In October 2017, the Boston Globe reported that Grubb’s Pharmacy in Washington, DC, has a cozy arrangement with members of Congress whereby it delivers drugs to their attending physicians. The drugs include prescriptions to treat the incurable Alzheimer’s disease, the most common form of senile dementia.

Ann Coulter: By signing the budget deal, Trump signs away his right as CIC to build the wall

Yesterday afternoon, the AP reported that “The White House confirms that President Donald Trump will sign a bill averting a potential partial government shutdown at the end of the week.”

At the same time, “Press Secretary Sarah Sanders says Trump will also take ‘other executive action — including a national emergency’ as he seeks to keep his border wall pledge.” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) confirmed that Trump would quickly declare a national emergency, so as to divert money from other budget projects into building the southern border wall.

According to Ann Coulter, however, by signing the budget deal, Donald Trump has signed away his right as commander in chief to build a wall.

On the Lars Larson radio show yesterday, Coulter said (beg. 1:00 mark):

“It’s over…. I’ve been one saying since November 8, ‘Hey, you’re commander in chief. You have always had authority to build the wall. That is part of your job description.‘ They’ve talked about national emergency, and his special emergency powers, whether he uses that or not, he’s the commander in chief and his job is to keep America safe.

But now, he signed a bill in which he has signed those powers away. The bill that he signed prohibits any part of the wall going any place on our border. It allows not the prototypes, not a wall, but some gentle pedestrian bollard fencing, in one small section, the Santa Fe section, but only if the local authorities agree….

It’s worse than amnesty — it’s a pre-approved amnesty. You may not be deported if an ‘unaccompanied child’ is a member of your household. This will put human smuggling into overdrive. You could be an MS-13 member, anyone, any illegal in this country, just get a kid in the household, just traffick that child across the border, you got amnesty! That’s the bill he signed.

They’ll try to go to the Supreme Court and say, ‘Hey, I’m Commander In Chief! It’s my job to defend America!’. And the Supreme Court will say, ‘That’s funny, because whose signature is this on a bill that says the commander in chief isn’t allowed to build a wall? Whose John Hancock is on this?’

He has just signed away his inherent powers under the Constitution. It is over. There will not be a fence, there will not be a wall, there will not be a garden trellis, and there will be mass amnesty and open borders like you’ve never seen before. The country’s over, there’s no point to what you do, there’s no point to what I do, there’s no point to listening to this radio show because the whole country goes the way of California. America was nice while it lasted, but they outmaneuvered us, the people who wanted to destroy this country….

This bill passed the United States Senate 83 to 16. I understand some of the Democrats voted against it, so it won’t be held against them, they can’t be blamed for open borders. You know who can be? The guy who put his John Hancock on the bill — Donald Trump. Full open borders like something Hillary Clinton couldn’t have gotten through.”

So, is Ann Coulter correct in her assertions?

In seeking to confirm/disconfirm what Coulter said, I tried to find the primary source — the budget deal itself.

Infuriatingly, I couldn’t find a link to, or even the name of the budget deal in any of the news reports on the agreement. So I went to Congress.gov, and found the budget agreement among the 31 bill texts that Congress.gov received yesterday.

This is what H.J.Resolution 31: The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2019, which was passed by both the House and the Senate, and presented to President Trump today, says, which confirms what Ann Coulter said:

(1) Effective amnesty, i.e., no deportation, for illegals with an unaccompanied child:

Title II, Sec. 224. (a) None of the funds provided by this Act or any other Act, or provided from any accounts in the Treasury of the United States derived by the collection of fees available to the components funded by this Act, may be used by the Secretary of Homeland Security to place in detention, remove, refer for a decision whether to initiate removal proceedings, or initiate removal proceedings against a sponsor, potential sponsor, or member of a household of a sponsor or potential
sponsor of an unaccompanied alien child (as defined in section 462(g) of the Homeland Security Act of 2002 (6 U.S.C. 279(g))) based on information shared by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

(2) No wall, but only pedestrian fencing may be built on the border:

Title II. Sec. 230. (a) Of the total amount made available under “U.S. Customs and Border Protection–Procurement, Construction, and Improvements”,$2,370,222,000 shall be available only as follows:
(1) $1,375,000,000 is for the construction of primary pedestrian fencing, including levee pedestrian fencing, in the Rio Grande Valley Sector;

Sec. 230. (b) The amounts designated in subsection (a)(1) shall only be available for operationally effective designs deployed as of the date of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2017 (Public Law 115-31), such as currently deployed steel bollard designs, that prioritize agent safety.

(3) Not even pedestrian fencing in these areas:

Sec. 231. None of the funds made available by this Act or prior Acts are available for the construction of pedestrian fencing–
(1) within the Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge;
(2) within the Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park;
(3) within La Lomita Historical park;
(4) within the National Butterfly Center; or
(5) within or east of the Vista del Mar Ranch tract of the Lower Rio Grande Valley National Wildlife Refuge.

(4) Construction of pedestrian border fencing is subject to local authorities’ approval (which means there won’t even be pedestrian fencing in places like California):

Sec. 232. (a) Prior to use of any funds made available by this Act for the construction of physical barriers within the city limits of any city or census designated place described in subsection (c), the Department of Homeland Security and the local elected officials of such a city or census designated place shall confer and seek to reach mutual agreement regarding the design and alignment of physical barriers within that city or the census designated place (as the case may be). Such consultations shall continue until September 30, 2019 (or until agreement is reached, if earlier) and may be extended beyond that date by agreement of the parties, and no funds made available in this Act shall be used for such construction while consultations are continuing.

Sec. 232. (c) The cities and census designated place described in this subsection are as follows:
(1) Roma, Texas.
(2) Rio Grande City, Texas.
(3) Escobares, Texas.
(4) La Grulla, Texas.
(5) The census designated place of Salineno, Texas.

While what Ann Coulter said about the budget deal — the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2019 — is true, does this mean that by signing the bill, President Trump effectively signed away his right as commander in chief to build a border wall?

Certainly, for Trump not to sign the bill would mean another government shut down — and government shut down has shown itself to be ineffective in pressuring the Demonrats to allocate the $5+ billion Trump wants to build the wall. But by signing the bill, Trump in effect agrees to the bill’s provisions, including its stipulation that the funds Congress has allocated for border security can only be spent on pedestrian fencing, instead of a wall.

But that doesn’t mean President Trump can’t muster funds outside of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2018 to build the wall, on the grounds of national emergency. Whether that will work remains to be seen.
