Elephant rushes to protect caretaker under attack

Sun, 08 Jul 2018 13:35:10 +0000

eowyn2

Human beings like to think ourselves as superior to animals — that non-human animals have no feelings, such as love and empathy, and no moral sense, such as altruism.

Again and again, God’s creatures demonstrate otherwise.

Thongsri the elephant is one example.

The 17-year-old elephant lives in a sanctuary in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

In a video that’s gone viral, two of her caretakers pretend to fight. One of the men strikes the other, who falls to the ground.

Watching this, Thongsri charges into battle to rescue her caretaker. The elephant circles the man protectively, using her body to shield him against harm.

Animal altruism: Dog shares 'maternity ward' with pregnant cat

Sat, 02 Jun 2018 12:32:55 +0000

eowyn2

A man came across a homeless dog who was heavily pregnant, about to give birth.

The man couldn’t bring the dog home, so he did the next best thing – he built a doghouse, furnished with blankets, for the stray and her soon-to-be-born puppies. He placed the doghouse against a building for some extra protection against the wind and rain.

A few days later, the man returned to check on the dog and discovered a surprise in the “maternity ward” he’d built.

The dog had given birth to puppies! But that wasn’t the surprise.

Inside the “maternity ward” were a grey stray cat and four newborn kittens!

Dog and cat peaceably cuddled together with their babies, keeping each other warm.

The dog could have chased the cat away. Instead, she recognized another mommy in distress and welcomed the heavily-pregnant cat into her home.

If that isn’t an act of animal altruism, I don’t know what is.

Hero dogs: saves newborn baby; fosters orphaned ducklings

Sat, 26 May 2018 12:13:14 +0000

eowyn2

A female dog in Argentina has more humanity than too many humans.

The 8-year-old dog found an abandoned, prematurely-born baby in a field of rubbish in a shanty town outside of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was winter.

The dog picked up the baby, carried him 55 yards and placed the baby among her puppies.

The dog’s owner heard the baby’s cries and found him covered with a rag. The baby had no bite marks.

Police found the baby’s 14-year-old mother. (FoxNews)

Fred, a 10-year-old Labrador, is the resident dog at tourist attraction Mountfitchet Castle — a reconstructed Norman castle in Stansted, Essex, about 35 miles north of London.

One day, the staff found nine little ducklings wandering the castle grounds without their mother, probably killed by a fox.

Fred took to the ducklings and became their foster dad.

The little ducklings follow Fred everywhere, having imprinted on him. They swim in the castle moat every day together, and sleep together in the same basket in the house at night.

Judy Obregon works for The Abandoned Ones animal rescue in Fort Worth, Texas.

Obregon had noticed a female German Shepherd living in the woods near Echo Lake Park, a notorious dumping ground for unwanted pets. With great patience, Obregon worked at gaining the dog’s trust.

IN foster care URGENT 05- 05-18 : FOSTER NEEDED (Fort Worth , Tx ) ( Part One ) She's been living in the woods for several weeks , turns out she wasnt alone 🙁 After being alerted by FWPO( s) regarding dog ( GSD ) living in woods ( Echo Lake / Carter Park ) area , I knew it was extremely URGENT to capture her gaining trust began , studying her every move , and determined ! at first once she saw my truck she'd run , every morning before sunlight I'd go to feed her , it's when she began waiting , I knew we were close .She also knew how desperate we were , so she made it a point .if you take me , you take my friend too ! Thats how I felt because he was no where around during the weeks we began feeding to gain trust .Her being elusive kept her safe from evil ( knowing if anyone else got near ) she would run .but the mission to rescuing her changed , because one turned into two .No way was I going to leave her buddy behind ! With wounds on his face it was urgent , and friendly he would become victim in the hands of evil that lurks this area ! ( photo in comment section) Going in everday , We know it's possible WE may find one in need , never do we have a FOSTER in place …just faith we will find one .we search the woods , the creeks , the lake , the park for possible dumped animals .She is and was another , along with her friend both in need ! While I have several videos from the day we started gaining trust , in some you can see how elusive she was , then just how she began to trust , one video she begins to walk up to me and one she's so happy she starts rolling on her back .I said the same thing to her everday , for her to know my voice and trust that one day her life would change . The look of worry , concern always gets me , and all so rewarding when we can change their frown , the fear they have into a smile ❤We can't do this alone , We need your help , to help us help them .If you can foster please contact www.taoanimalrescue.comthis video is only a glimpse of living life on the streets of danger ..in the woods with no one knowing you even exist but today their life changed !Donations directly to vet would be so greatly appreciated Dr Gibbs : 817-294-9798Thank you to TAO volunteer Emily Walker for her assistance ❤

Obregon wrote: “At first, once she saw my truck she’d run. Every morning I’d go to feed her.”

Then one morning, Obregon showed up and the dog was there waiting for her. That’s when Obregon “knew we were close” to rescuing her.

German Shepherd and pit bull

After many days of feeding, the dog finally revealed a secret.

She went into the woods and brought out a friend: a frightened pit bull with scars all over his face.

Obregon said the German Shepherd made it clear: “If you take me, you take my friend, too!”

No one knows how the dogs got there or how they found each other, but they clearly had become friends and protectors of each other.

Obregon eventually was able to coax the dogs into her car.

Iris the German Shepherd and Clover the pit bull have visited the vet. Happily, neither has heartworm. Clover’s face has already healed.

On May 10, 2018, The Abandoned Ones posted an update on Iris and Clover — Iris had a cyst removed during her spay surgery; Clover would be spayed the next day. He is healing and is on antibiotics.

The dogs are recovering at the vet. Both need fostering.

Dog saves Wisconsin family from carbon monoxide poisoning

Abby, a Border Collie Aussie, is the family pet of the Siekerts, in Hartland, Wisconsin.
On February 11, 2016, Abby proved to be much more than a family pet. Abby saved her human family’s lives.
That morning, Nicole Siekert and her 5-year-old twin daughters, Grace and Bella, woke up feeling under the weather. One of the girls even got sick. Nicole said, “We were all just kind of out of sorts when we woke up. We were all just kind of lagging.”
After breakfast, the twins felt well enough for school. But Nicole was still dizzy, she could hardly stand up. “It was just really starting to hit me where I just felt very flu-ish suddenly. I felt very dizzy, very light-headed.” So Nicole went back to bed. But her dog became “very clingy”. As Nicole described:

“I laid down and Abby jumped up on the bed and she would not leave me alone. She was all the way up by my head and my pillow, nudging my head and pawing at me. She tried to lift up my head with her nose.

Abby’s persistence got Nicole out of bed. Thinking Abby had to go outside, Nicole went to let Abby out. But the dog didn’t stop at the front door, and led Nicole downstairs to a chirping carbon monoxide detector.
Nicole said, “It was like a flash. Everything just came together and it made sense.” The family had furnace troubles in the days before, but didn’t think much of it. It turns out an exhaust pipe to the home was blocked and carbon monoxide had been building up.
The Siekerts were treated and released from the hospital for carbon monoxide poisoning.
Nicole can’t even think what could have happened if Abby wasn’t around: “I’m just filled with goosebumps. She’s amazing, she saved my life. She saved my family’s life. I think I would have just laid down and gone to sleep. She’s like an angel. She is our protector.”
Grace calls Abby “a super hero.” Her twin sister, Bella, said, “We love her a lot and she’s really amazing.”
We Energies electricity and gas company honored Abby with a special Heroism Award and treats from the Humane Society.

A Glimpse of the New Creation – Isaiah 11:6-9

Entry #7 from The 20 (+) Creation Stories in the Bible.
There are many places in the Bible that can inform our understanding of how we all came into existence. This series is for your enjoyment.

"A little child shall lead them" by William Strutt (British, 1825–1915)

Artist – William Strutt (British, 1825–1915)

A little Child Will Lead Them

The wolf will live with the lamb,
the leopard will lie down with the goat,
the calf and the lion and the yearling together;
and a little child will lead them.
The cow will feed with the bear,
their young will lie down together,
and the lion will eat straw like the ox.
The infant will play near the cobra’s den,
and the young child will put its hand into the viper’s nest.
They will neither harm nor destroy
on all my holy mountain,
for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord
as the waters cover the sea.

– Isaiah 11:6-9

The rest of Isaiah chapter 11 is an amazing prediction of the Messiah. Because this post is focused on Creation, I have not written about that. To read about the Branch of Jesse click the following link – Read Isaiah 11.

Hero dog, beaten and shot, protects boy from home invaders

Fri, 09 Mar 2018 15:27:23 +0000

eowyn2

Tracy Bloom reports for KTLA5 that a German shepherd was brutally beaten and shot multiple times while trying to protect his teenage owner, who was home alone when two thieves broke into the family’s residence in Des Moines, Washington.

The home-invasion occurred in broad daylight about 12:20 p.m. on a weekday, February 21, 2018, in the 1400 block of South 234th Street.

The heroic German Shepherd is appropriately named Rex, which means king.

Des Moines Police Department Cmdr. Doug Jenkins said, “A 16-year-old boy who was home alone said he believed someone was breaking in. He heard noises and voices, ran upstairs and hid in closet. He continued relaying everything he heard on the phone with dispatch.”

The teen was hiding in a closet with his dog, Rex, when the 2-year-old German shepherd ran downstairs to confront the intruders. The thieves beat the dog, leaving him badly injured.

Even after being bloodied and hurt, Rex still had enough strength left to get back to the boy — his best friend — and protect him as the thieves proceeded into the bedrooms, including the one where the boy was hiding. The thieves opened fire, shooting Rex multiple times. He was struck in the neck, leg and knee, yet managed to survive.

The boy’s aunt, Susy Cadena, calls Rex a “hero dog” in a GoFundMe page:

“As they entered the room where my nephew was hiding in the closet, Rex came out with the little strength he had left in him and threw himself at them as he knew my nephew was in danger. My nephew was protected by his eternal friend until the last bit of strength he had in him to do what his unconditional, loving instinct told him to.”

The intruders fled the home as they heard the sound of approaching police sirens. They were gone by the time responding officers arrived at the scene.

Rex was taken to an animal hospital in critical condition and was later transported to BluePearl Veterinary Partners. Rex remains in the veterinary intensive care unit, but his condition has since been upgraded to stable.

His owners, who have already spent $2,000 on Rex’s medical expenses, are trying to raise funds to pay for the surgery Rex needs to save his life.

After just one day, Rex’s GoFundMe had surpassed its goal of $10,000.

Loving dog stops and waits for elderly owner

A security camera in a residential neighborhood captured on video an elderly man out for his daily walk.
The man walks very, very, very, very slowly with the help of a walker.

Watch how his faithful, patient dog would periodically stop and wait for the old man to catch up with her.

Animal altruism: Why homeless cat would only accept food in a plastic bag

Every day, a kind woman in South Korea feeds street cats with kibble dry food.

She named one of the cats, a yellow female, Donzi.

Although Donzi clearly was starving, she refused to eat the kibbles that the woman offered her in a bowl. So the woman tried to entice Donzi with wet canned food.

Still Donzi refused to eat the food.

Finally, the woman put the kibbles in a plastic baggie. This time Donzi accepted the food. She took the baggie in her mouth, but would not eat the food inside.

Watch what happens next.

Get the tissue ready . . . .
