3 recent victories in America’s Culture War: abortion, conversion therapy, Drag Queen Story Hour

Although the overall trend is that the Right have lost the culture war, we do have three recent victories.

Those three wins as reported by Dr. Michael Brown for The Christian Post, Sept. 20, 2019, are:

(1) The number and rate of abortions in America have dropped to their lowest levels since 1973:

The Associated Press reports that according to a Sept. 18, 2019 report from the Guttmacher Institute, a research group that supports abortion rights, the number and rate of abortions across the United States have plunged to their lowest levels since 1973 when the Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade legalized abortion nationwide:

  • The number of abortions have steadily decreased from the peak of 1.6 million in 1990, to a little more than 1 million in 2011, to 926,000 in 2014, to 862,000 abortions in 2017.
  • The rate of abortions in 2017 declined to 13.5 abortions per 1,000 women aged 15-44 — the lowest rate since 1973, and less than half what it was in 1990.

Admittedly, some of the decline is due to increased use of contraception and lower fertility rates, with women having fewer children in general. Still, the decline in the number and rate of abortions is also due to a recognition of the wrongness of abortion.

2) New York City has decided to drop an oppressive ban on so-called conversion therapy:

Tyler O’Neil reports for PJ Media on Sept. 16, 2019, that NYC Council Speaker Corey Johnson announced that because of a legal challenge from Orthodox Jewish psychologist Dr. David Schwartz, the city will act swiftly to repeal a 2017 law forbidding therapists from charging clients for “services intended to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity.” Therapists who violated the law would be fined $1,000 per violation.

Johnson, who is homosexual, said: “Obviously I didn’t want to repeal this. I don’t want to be someone who is giving in to these right-wing groups. But the Supreme Court has become conservative; the Second Circuit, which oversees New York, has become more conservative. We think this is the most responsible, prudent course.”

3) Some cities are canceling “Drag Queen Story Hours” in local libraries:

Recall that last year, the American Library Association approved “Drag Queen Story Hour” in public libraries for children as young as 3. Below is one of the drag queens (source: Mass Resistance).

Some cities, however, are canceling “Drag Queen Story Hours” because of parental protests.

One of them is Leander, Texas.

As reported by Mass Resistance, a pro-family activist organization, on August 15, 2019, Leander’s City Council voted 5-2 to stop renting out their public library meeting rooms to outside organizations, and voted 6-1 to require background checks for guest presenters for programs in the library involving children 17 and younger. By all accounts, these policy changes will completely stop the “Drag Queen Story Hour” events in Leander’s public library.

BBC teaches school-children there are more than 100 genders

Yesterday, our DCG posted about UK children as young as three getting “help” from the National Health Service (NHS) to change their gender via a simple Skype call.

The madness continues.

The state-owned and -operated British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) recently released a series of educational videos designed “in consultation with a PSHE education expert” for teachers to use with children aged 9-12.

Note: Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) Education is a school curriculum subject in England which focusses on developing the knowledge, skills and attributes to keep children and young people healthy and safe and to prepare them for life and work.

The BBC educational videos tell children there are more than 100 “gender identities,” and that people who disagree “just don’t know any better yet” and can be arrested and imprisoned for disagreeing.

Joseph Curl reports for the Daily Wire, Sept. 16, 2019, that the videos feature young children asking questions to teachers on a variety of subjects, including human sexuality, gender, and relationships:

  • In one episode titled “Understanding Sexual and Gender Identities,” the BBC says gender is not a biological assignment, but rather reflects “who you are inside.” One teacher tells the children: “There are so many gender identities. So we know we’ve got male and female, but there are over 100, if not more, gender identities now. You’ve got some people who might call themselves gender queer, who are just like, ‘I don’t really want to be anything in particular, I’m just going to be me.'”
  • In an episode called “The Big Talk,” a teacher tells children that they can be jailed if they are found to be “disrespecting or being hateful to people because of a difference that person perceives.”
  • The video includes Leo Lardie, a female-to-male transgender activist, telling the children about its “transition” and genitalia, and that the only way to happiness is to be “true about who I was, and let other people in on this.”
  • Another episode features a head teacher married to someone of the same sex, who suggests to the children that you “might be gay” if you like someone of the same sex “in a slightly different way than you do normally to your friends.”

The BBC “educational” video series has caused a stir in Britain:

  • Stephanie Davies-Arai, founder of Transgender Trend representing parents concerned about children and transgenderism, told the Sunday Times: “This is made-up nonsense. People are free to identify as anything they like, but this does not change the reality that there are only two sexes.
  • In a heated exchange with “gay” journalist Benjamin Butterworth who defends the BBC videos, Piers Morgan, former CNN host and nhe host of “Good Morning Britain,” asked, “Can I identify as a penguin at the Sealife Aquarium in London, that is currently being reared as gender-neutral, apparently has gay parents. Let me just say this, can I under this new world of self-identification, can I identify as a two-spirit, neutrois penguin?” Butterworth said, “Well, you’re not a penguin, use some common sense. That’s not a thing that happens.” But Morgan shot back: “How dare you tell me I can’t identify as that! How dare you offend me!”

UK children as young as three could receive help to change their gender from NHS via Skype call

From Daily Mail: Children as young as three could be helped to change gender by doctors on the basis of just a Skype phone call under plans being considered by the NHS.

A controversial clinic, which helps thousands of children to change gender every year, says that it has become so overwhelmed by patients that it could be forced to set children on a path to a new sex on the basis of ‘telemedical’ appointments.

The startling development is likely to cause an outcry among critics of the clinic’s work, who will argue that it is impossible to evaluate a child’s suitability for such radical treatment over the phone.

Internal reports produced for the directors of the Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS), run by the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust, argue that without such radical changes the clinic could be forced to shut down due to an exodus of demoralised staff.

The plan for sex change by Skype comes as the clinic faces growing pressure from psychologists who say it uses untested drugs on troubled children and ‘rushes’ them towards becoming transgender.

Last year 2,590 children were referred to the clinic, a rise of more than 400 per cent since 2013, leading to a two-year waiting list.

Ten of the children were aged three or four and dozens more were of primary-school age. The treatment includes giving the children hormone-blocking drugs.

The GIDS reports, which have been seen by this newspaper, reveal that the clinic has started testing ‘some of the practicalities involved in identifying young people and families to be considered for treatment appointments delivered with telemedicine’.

It uses technology such as Skype and FaceTime to allow doctors to diagnose and prescribe treatment for patients hundreds or thousands of miles away.

The reports, which were presented to the directors last month, reveal that publicity about the clinic’s work has led to a surge in demand for its services and an increase in waiting times, leading to a growing burden on staff.

The report warns that the situation was becoming so serious that ‘the service could be decommissioned by the NHS’.

Last night, a spokesman for the Tavistock and Portman Trust said: ‘Using digital technologies to increase efficiency and to enhance patient experience where appropriate is an area of development across the NHS.

‘The Trust is working to minimise waiting times and make clinical support easier to access, including eliminating travel time for young people and their families, which will also allow us to offer appointments earlier and later in the day.

‘As with the rest of the NHS, innovations like telemedicine are an addition and will not mean the removal or inability to access face-to-face consultations.

‘The Trust and GIDS welcome all open and informed discussion and decision-making around the best way to support young people experiencing difficulties or distress around their gender identity.’

An NHS source said that NHS England ‘would continue to work with the Trust and the service to seek changes that will address waiting times and support continued improvement of the service delivered’.

Calvin Klein promoting obesity under the guise of “inclusivity”

From NY Post: This past spring you couldn’t miss her.

Commanding 4,000 square feet of premium Soho air space and wearing nothing by CK underwear, the indie rapper Chika gazed knowingly from Calvin Klein’s massive billboard — just like Kate Moss and Kendall Jenner before her.

But the 22-year-old musician’s proudly plus-size body type felt like a rebuke against the brand’s traditional muses and their famously skinny silhouettes.

The recent ad’s aftershocks included a feature in Time magazine, an InStyle interview and — thanks to a slew of Instagram tags — millions of digital impressions. But while Chika called her campaign coup a “happy surprise,” it was actually a deliberately canny move from Calvin Klein HQ.

Once the chicest name at New York Fashion Week, the brand didn’t even bother to present this past February nor is it on the show schedule that begins Friday.

Rather, Calvin Klein has recently slipped in its stilettos thanks to an ill-fated allegiance with designer Raf Simons, the beloved Belgian artiste who was named chief creative officer and lead designer in 2016. Simons’ collections were Vogue-lauded sensations but also retail duds thanks to their futuristic shapes and menacing graphics, many licensed from Warhol’s “Death and Disaster” series.

When Simons left the label in December, parent company PVH called his’ two-year tenure a “fashion miss,” and retail analysts estimated his otherworldly and sometimes just odd creations cost the label a whopping $240 million.

PVH stock plunged 7.4 percent in May. Calvin Klein shuttered its Fifth Avenue flagship and skipped the costly — but, in terms of high-profile publicity, major — Met Gala, where it used to host a table loaded with starlets including Margot Robbie and Emma Watson.

It seemed like a death knell. But some experts argue it could be a fresh start and a chance to shake off the cobwebs.

“Letting those things go is actually quite savvy,” says Tyler McCall, who analyzes retail strategy as editor-in-chief of Fashionista.com. “At first, there was a real sense of loss. Calvin was so legendary! But the brand pivoted quickly into what works: the underwear in extended sizing, the nostalgia for the ’90s, the push for diverse bodies in casting.”

Calvin Klein, once known for being a major trendsetter in youth culture — creating often controversial waves with ads starring a 15-year-old Brooke Shields, a skeletal Moss, a muscle-rippling Mark Wahlberg — is finally catching up to Gen Z’s more inclusive, individual idea of cool.

“Contrast that with a brand like Victoria’s Secret, who can’t acknowledge that women exist above a size 12. They very publicly excluded trans women and plus-size women from their runway. And now, their sales are tanking,” McCall adds. “Meanwhile, Calvin Klein . . . is actually listening to [young shoppers].”

According to company sources, the brand’s new strategy includes recruiting an invisible grid of “micro-influencers” (read: fun but not necessarily famous Instagrammers) to weave a new fan base for the brand.

The company’s chief marketing officer, Marie Gulin-Merle, told The Post: “We believe the most compelling and engaging campaigns are those that embrace not just diversity of race, body type, sexual orientation or gender identity, but also diversity of opinion and experience.”

That may explain why the new “#CKPartners” include dozens of plus-size women and men, along with sometime-models such as mental-health blogger Elena Sanchez, Sikh tailor Devkaran Singh Mattakul and disability advocate Kate Virginia posing in her wheelchair.

Of course, reliable thirst traps like Bella Hadid and Naomi Campbell sprawl across much of Calvin Klein’s billboard and Instagram real estate — but now they’re joined by trans bombshell Indya Moore and queer pop icon Beth Ditto, who smolders in plus-size lace lingerie.

Can embracing the full human spectrum, and shedding the waif look for good, save CK One from being CK Done?

Current numbers give a cautious thumbs-up, with the brand’s luxury fragrances claiming a quarter of the spots on Amazon’s bestseller list and its social-media followers surpassing American fashion titans Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren.

But the brand needs to follow through on its promise of inclusion by spotlighting more than one plus-size model at a time, whether it’s on a building or just a handheld phone screen.

As Essence beauty director Julee Wilson has said, inclusion “isn’t just right, it’s good business. Once brands understand the profits they are blatantly missing, hopefully things will get better.”

And if Calvin Klein likes anything more than getting cool cred, it’s getting back those missing profits.

Sunday Devotional: Conduct your affairs with humility

Luke 14:1, 7, 12-14

On a sabbath Jesus went to dine
at the home of one of the leading Pharisees,
and the people there were observing him carefully.

He told a parable to those who had been invited,
noticing how they were choosing the places of honor at the table….

“When you hold a lunch or a dinner,
do not invite your friends or your brothers
or your relatives or your wealthy neighbors,
in case they may invite you back and you have repayment.
Rather, when you hold a banquet,
invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind;
blessed indeed will you be because of their inability to repay you.
For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”

In his brief three years of public ministry, our Lord Jesus the Christ again and again warned against the sin of pride and grandiosity, aka narcissism, and exhorted us to be humble.

The Old Testament, too, sounded the same warning and exhortation in the Book of Sirach, commonly called the Wisdom of Sirach — a work of ethical teachings, from approximately 200 to 175 B.C., written by Ben Sira of Jerusalem, and the largest wisdom book from antiquity to have survived.

Sirach 3:17-18

My child, conduct your affairs with humility,
 and you will be loved more than a giver of gifts.
 Humble yourself the more, the greater you are,
 and you will find favor with God. 

The opposite of humility is narcissism or grandiosity — the exaltation and excessive love of self, making ourselves “as gods”. As such, narcissism is an offense against God because it violates the first of the Ten Commandments:

“I am the Lord your God:
you shall not have strange gods before me.”

As American culture becomes increasingly corrupt, it’s no accident that studies testify to a corresponding increase in narcissism “across the board,” in the words of San Diego State University psychology professor Jean Twenge, the author of Generation Me (Free Press, 2006).

Twenge wrote that narcissism and one of its behavioral manifestations — entitlement — among college students had increased steadily and dramatically since 1979:

What we really have is a culture that has increasingly emphasized feeling good about yourself and favoring the individual over the group. And that has happened across the board, culturally, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down. I have a 14-month-old daughter, and the clothing available to her has ‘little princess,’ or ‘I’m the boss,’ or ‘spoiled rotten’ written on it. This is what we’re dressing our babies in. Schools have programs designed to boost self-esteem. Parents say things like, ‘You shouldn’t care what other people think of you.’ We’re inundated with the notions of ‘feeling special,’ ‘believing in yourself’ and ‘be anything you want to be.’

For that reason, Twenge coined the term “iGeneration” (“i” as in both iPod and “me, me, me”) for the Millennials — those born in the general range of 1981 to 1999.

It is also no accident that the cultural rot and increase in narcissism “across the board” are accompanied by a dramatic increase in overt and coarsened sexuality, which permeats everything.

In a 1992 encyclical, Pastores Dabo Vobis, St. John Paul II explained the cause-and-effect connection between narcissism (the adulation of the self) and an unrestrained and degraded sexuality “reduced to nothing more than a consumer good”:

In this case, many young people undergo an affective experience which, instead of contributing to a harmonious and joyous growth in personality which opens them outward in an act of self-giving, becomes a serious psychological and ethical process of turning inward toward self, a situation which cannot fail to have grave consequences on them in the future. In the case of some young people a distorted sense of freedom lies at the root of these tendencies. Instead of being understood as obedience to objective and universal truth, freedom is lived out as a blind acquiescence to instinctive forces and to an individual’s will to power.… On the religious level, such a situation, if it does not always lead to an explicit refusal of God, causes widespread indifference and results in a life which, even in its more significant moments and more decisive choices, is lived as if God did not exist.

It is also no accident that all of these “Do As Thou Wilt” — a Satanic motto — cultural indicators are accompanied not just by the tolerance, but the celebration of homosexuality and so-called transgenderism.

Psychiatrist Dr. Richard Fitzgibbons, with more than 35 years of clinical experience treating homosexuals, including homosexual priests, said in a 2011 interview that “Narcissism — a personality disorder in which an insatiable need for admiration often leads to attention-seeking behavior — is prevalent among men who struggle with homosexuality.”

And what’s the antidote to narcissism?

Not love of self, but the right kind of love — loving the God who humbled Himself by dying on the cross for our sins, with your whole heart, your whole soul, your whole mind, and with all your strength.

For every one who exalts himself will be humbled,
but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.

Mandated acceptance of “transgender” women: What did real women fight for?

Many women I know – including myself – do not think of ourselves as victims. Yet we do know that throughout history women had to fight for the rights we enjoy today.

We have those hard-earned civil rights thanks in part to women who set the path for the 19th Amendment, Sheppard-Towner Maternity Bill, Cable Act, and Equal Rights Amendment. Read about some of these women and what they fought for here.

There was also the “feminist movement” – the one before today’s “Feminazi” or “third-wave feminism.”

Despite what feminism has turned into today, the original feminist movement was intent on giving women legal equalities and addressing the role of women in society.

The Emergence of “Transgender” Women

After years of fighting hard for equality in this country, along came a new definition of a woman that the Cultural Marxism agenda infiltrated into academia, media, and politics. This had to be done to change the intellectual paths of our lives to cast uncertainty about the laws of human biology.

During the past thirty years, transgender women have become accepted as women to the point where society would have us believe that they can menstruate and become pregnant!

Many transgender women would argue that these references to biology are inherently anti-feminist. I counter that their arguments are inherently anti-science.

But the narrative has surpassed science: A global poll of women across five continents from September 2018 indicated that women believe that transgender women should have the same rights as other women.

The Thomson Reuters Foundation poll asked 1,000 women in Cairo, London, Mexico City, New York and Tokyo: “Should transgender women have the same rights as other women?” In total 798 answered yes, 37 said no and 165 declined to answer.

Beating Biological Women at Their Own Game

Now that a progressive society has deemed “transgender women” to be equal to biological women, transgender women are allowed to compete against real women – with a physiological and political-correct advantage. This in turn robs real women of their due successes. See the following examples:

So Was the Fight Worth It?

In the end of this progressive agenda, we are told that “transgender women” deserve to be recognized as women and are afforded the right to compete alongside us as our EQUALS.

The beauty of women cannot be matched by a biological male

But transgender women are not equal to biological women. A man can inject himself with hormones, have transgender rhinoplasty, transgender brow lift, bossing removal, cheek implants, chin reduction/enhancement, lip enhancement, hip enhancement, and breast augmentation all they want. This does not make them a real woman.

We are told to celebrate our womanly differences. Then we are told to accept “transgender” men to compete on the same level as us, have the same rights as us, and that they are biologically equal to us.

In their emotional desire to cater to the mentally ill, the left has condemned us all as “real” women.

Many things true women fought for and the differences that make us unique are taken away from us. The progressive agenda has wormed their way into the privilege and beauty of womanhood and replaced us with men.

So was the fight really worth it?

Gillette’s ads to feature firefighters after ‘toxic masculinity’ backlash

Early this year, Proctor & Gamble’s Gillette joined “woke” corporations like JC Penney and Dick’s Sporting Goods (whose CEO Ed Stack said he’s okay with Dick’s $150M loss from the company’s gun control policy) in mixing “progressive” politics with business:

  • In January 2019, Gillette launched the #MeToo “The Best Men Can Be” ad campaign against “toxic masculinity,” portraying boys and men as prone to bullying, violence, and sexual harassment — all of which have nothing to do with shaving.
  • In April 2019, Gillette launched the Venus campaign promoting obese women and so-called transgenders. (Note: Unlike other physicians and psychologists, the American College of Pediatricians speaks the truth — that transgenderism is a psychological disorder with no basis in biology.)
  • In May 2019, Gillette doubled down on its promotion of “transgenders” with an ad of a dad teaching his “transgender” son how to shave.

Gillette’s ads prompted many men, including some here on FOTM, declaring they will no longer buy Gillette shavers.

To no one’s surprise except Gillette’s management, Procter & Gamble (P&G) reported a net loss of about $5.24 billion for the quarter that ended on June 30, 2019, due to an $8 billion non-cash “writedown” of Gillette — an accounting term for the reduction in the book value of Gillette’s assets whose fair market value has fallen below the book value, and thus become an impaired asset.

Well, unlike Dick’s Sporting Goods, P&G does appear to care about dollars and profits.

On August 21, 2019, Frank Chung, the finance editor of Australia’s News.com.au, tweeted that “Gillette is ‘shifting the spotlight from social issues’ after ‘toxic masculinity’ backlash.”

Douglas Ernst further reports for The Washington Times, August 22, 2019, that Manu Airan, associate brand director for Gillette Australia and New Zealand, told News.Com.Au about its latest efforts to “authentically connect” with consumers by “shifting” the company’s focus “from social issues to local heroes” like firefighters and personal trainers. Airan said:

“We have a very clear strategy when it comes to how we authentically connect with our consumers. We will continue to talk about what is important to Gillette and that is representing men at their best and helping men do their best. That is not changing. We will continue to do that and demonstrate it in different ways.”

Mr. Airan was coy when asked about future ads on #MeToo-related issues, “We will continue to represent men at their best. This is our purpose and has been our purpose consistently for 118 years and that is not changing.”

The commercial ends with the declaration that Mercedes-Benz is “driven by diversity everyday”.

They are cramming an agenda and demanding that all Christians’ values and rights are taken and replaced with theirs. Let that sink in.

The real issue is they are demanding this gender fluidity nonsense it taught in schools. We went very quickly from “we just want to be left alone” to “we need to teach your son about anal sex and how he’s maybe a girl.”

If u have any Mercedes stock.. sell it quick.

I may want to total out my current Mercedes Benz. I had to block emails pushing this same garbage from local Mercedes Benz clowns! I will guarantee, that this company is no longer controlled by the good German people that started it. Maybe the Satanic Commie Bolsheviks took over

Michael Moore proposes Democrats run ‘beloved’ Michelle Obama for 2020 presidential election

As some have thought, given the lackluster Demonrat spate of candidates for the 2020 presidential election, there will be a push for former first “lady” Michelle “Big Mike” Obama, “the most admired woman in the world” according to a recent poll, as the Democrat Party’s candidate.

Joseph A. Wulfsohn reports for Fox News that last Wednesday night, July 31, appearing on MSNBC‘s post-debate coverage, obese director Michael Moore proposed that Michelle Obama could be that “beloved” American and “street fighter” who can “crush” President Trump.

Moore said:

“We have to have a candidate who is beloved by the American people and who is outside the political inner circle, somebody who’s not a politician, somebody who’s gonna win.

I think, in my humble opinion, four of these candidates running could beat Trump; Bernie [Sanders], [former Vice President Joe] Biden, Kamala Harris, and Elizabeth Warren. They could beat him, but Hillary beat him. It’s not enough just to beat Trump.

The only way to remove Trump is to crush Trump and that’s the question that has to be asked — who can crush Trump? Who’s the street fighter? Frankly, I think, there’s a person that can do this if the election were held today, there is one person that would crush Trump and she hasn’t announced yet and her last name rhymes with Obama. In fact, it is Obama. Michelle Obama. She is a beloved American and she would go in there and she would beat him. She would beat him in the debates, he wouldn’t be able to bully her, he wouldn’t be able to nickname her.

Moore claims that Big Mike is wildly popular and can motivate Demonrats to vote in 2020, as shown by its “Becoming” book tour, where it filled “15,000-seat arenas”:

“She takes the stage and she’s so powerful and so good, you just look at that and think ‘of course she could win. But everyone’s now saying she’s not going to run. Well, has anyone asked her?… If asked to serve, I believe she would serve.”

I say, “Bring it on!”
