Cascade Mall shooter was not a U.S. citizen yet voted several times in Washington state

I’m shocked that a non-U.S. citizen was able to vote in Washington state. Just shocked…

From King5: The Cascade Mall shooting suspect, Arcan Cetin, may face an additional investigation related to his voting record and citizenship status.
Federal sources confirm to KING 5 that Cetin was not a U.S. citizen, meaning legally he cannot vote. However, state records show Cetin registered to vote in 2014 and participated in three election cycles, including the May presidential primary.
Cetin, who immigrated to the United States from Turkey as a child, is considered a permanent resident or green card holder. While a permanent resident can apply for U.S. citizenship after a certain period of time, sources tell KING his status had not changed from green card holder to U.S. citizen.
While voters must attest to citizenship upon registering online or registering to vote at the Department of Licensing Office, Washington state doesn’t require proof of citizenship. Therefore elections officials say the state’s elections system operates, more or less, under an honor system.

“We don’t have a provision in state law that allows us either county elections officials or the Secretary of State’s office to verify someone’s citizenship,” explained Secretary of State Kim Wyman. “So, we’re in this place where we want to make sure we’re maintaining people’s confidence in the elections and the integrity of the process, but also that we’re giving this individual, like we would any voter, his due process. We’re moving forward, and that investigation is really coming out of the investigation from the shootings.”
The penalty for voting as a non U.S. citizen could result in five years of prison time or a $10,000, according to Secretary of State’s Office. “The penalties are very serious. That’s why we want to make sure we’re very measured, and this is why we want to make sure we’re very calm and purposeful in how we move forward,” Wyman continued. “The stakes are very high on both sides. You want to keep the confidence level high, but you also want to protect the voting rights of everyone.”
Wyman says while it’s impossible to determine an exact number, she does not believe this case points to a larger issue.  “Our hands are kind of tied, but make no mistake, we want to make sure that everybody has confidence that people casting ballots are eligible. This is certainly going to be a topic at next legislation.”

Kim certainly has a positive attitude about the situation. Good for her!
We must blame ourselves for allowing our laws to be ignored and our society to be in ruins. Putting idiots in charge and not being vigilant.

Yes. The last thing we need is a requirement for more “permission”.

But voter ID’s are wrong, right?

That may not be as easy as it seems. On one hand, we don’t need permission. We have to get out of that mind set. We don’t need “authority”. We don’t have to “prove” our innocence or what we say. If the State thinks we lied, the burden is on them. So, while I don’t want foreigners voting, the burden is on them if they break the law. Five years is pretty stiff. I say good. They should enforce it. My point is that the idea was that the State did not need to grant permission to vote. If you… Read more »

I don’t see her logic here. A “Picture ID Card Required” law wouldn’t violate anyone’s right to vole. That would stop a lot of illegal voting, and would up the ante for anyone who DOES vote illegally, opening the door to even MORE severe penalties for illegal voting. The ONLY reason I can see for NOT incorporating a Picture ID law is that those who don’t want it feel their Party CAN’T WIN AN ELECTION WITHOUT CHEATING. Sounds to me like a tendency towards “self incrimination” to me.

Didn’t they do a survey among minorities in NC who overwhelmingly approved of voter ID?
This woman’s remarks tell the whole story that the next election has already been rigged.
If they have a data base that determined this piece of crap voted three times, they have the ability to find many others.
Kim should get her head out of her own butt and start finding and prosecuting.
She seems to think that since the laws are harsh it’s best to not enforce them.

I don’t want to ask “The State” to enforce anything. We don’t need their permission. If they would stop importing people here who should be elsewhere this wouldn’t be such a problem. The last thing on earth we need is a gaggle of armed thugs at the polls harassing voters. I do think that if they violate the law they should be prosecuted. How we’re going to do this is an open question. Obongo is openly encouraging illegals to vote. Maybe they should arrest HIM. People “overwhelmingly” approved of seat belt laws, DUI laws, mandatory insurance laws, clean under your… Read more »

“I’ve seen videos of what appears to be a hispanic man stuffing ballot boxes. It is quite clear what he’s doing. Why don’t the “officials” there report that? ”
Arresting a HISPANIC would be RAAAAAAAACISM!!

Does anyone know if this was a real shooting or just another hoax? It seemed to have a lot of the same problems that other known hoaxes have had. I have taken the liberty to run the names of the alleged victims, as well as some of the key people named in the event, through an online research program that I subscribe to. The names of the victims all come up with numerous addresses from all over Washington, but from other states too. Like Connecticut. What makes them suspicious, though, is that I can tell by the other info given… Read more »

Kim is a liberal moron. 5 years on the US taxpayers’ dime adds insult to injury. From the sublime to the ridiculous, voter fraud to mass murder.
The murderer’s status leads me to wonder why his mother did not (presumably) become a naturalized citizen before he reached adult status at 18. Is his mother naturalized even now, and has she also been voting?
An adult green card holder who violates the law should be deported. They are all non-citizens, probably numbering in the millions. Neither honor nor due process should enter into the conversation.

Correction: The law might stipulate 16 years of age (not 18) where automatic grant of naturalized status goes to children of resident aliens.

Deport anybody that is not a citizen and commits a crime. Any crime. We have more than enough homegrown criminals already.
