Caroline Kennedy has seller's remorse about Obama

In the 2008 presidential campaign, despite his murky personal history of Marxist friends and associates, a junior U.S. senator of only two years named Barack Hussein Obama was elected to the presidency of the most powerful country on Earth.
Obama’s election was due in no small part to Ted and Caroline Kennedy, who sprinkled their “Camelot” stardust on the political neophyte with their enthusiastic endorsement.

He was just using you, Caroline

Writing in the New York Times, Caroline Kennedy — the only surviving child of former President John F. Kennedy — delivered this rousing endorsement of Obama: “I have never had a president who inspired me the way people tell me that my father inspired them. But for the first time, I believe I have found the man who could be that president — not just for me, but for a new generation of Americans.”
Three years into Obama’s presidency, however, the same Caroline Kennedy now regrets her endorsement. She now calls Obama “a liar”.
Jonathan M. Seidl reports for The Blaze, May 14, 2012, that in an explosive new book The Amateur, author Edward Klein asserts that the Kennedy family was bitterly divided in 2008. While Ted and Caroline went for Obama, Robert Kennedy Jr., son of the former Attorney General, and his sisters Kathleen Kennedy Townsend and Kerry Kennedy, were supporters of Hillary Clinton.
Fast forward to 2012. Caroline has undergone a transformation after several snubbings by the Obamas. She especially feels insulted by one particular snubbing, when a vacationing Obama refused to meet with her despite her home being in the vicinity near Martha’s Vineyard.
Author Edward Klein quotes a family member on Caroline’s transformation:

“Through these [spies that the Kennedy family has in the Obama administration] and other people, Caroline heard back that there was a lot of nasty shit being said about the Kennedys by the president and Michelle. There were catty remarks about how badly the Kennedy women dressed, and how their houses were shabby and threadbare. Caroline got the impression that most of this negativity was coming from Michelle, who didn’t want the Kennedys to be part of the administration for fear that they would have too much influence over the president.

Gradually, Carline began to change her tune and side with Bobby and Kathleen [Kennedy Townsend] against the Obamas. Unlike Jackie, who was completely a-political, Carline is a liberal with a capital L. When Obama didn’t raise taxes to balance the  budget, Caroline marked him down. In her eyes, he‘s a mess because he doesn’t follow the liberal bible on politics. More important, Caroline discovered that the Obamas didn’t give a damn about her support. […]

It really annoyed Caroline when comparisons were made by the media between Michelle and Jackie. Caroline had a word for such comparisons; she called them ‘odious.’ She really got annoyed. And when she began to fall out of love with the Obamas, love was replaced by outright scorn. Now she says things about Obama like, ‘I can’t stand to hear his voice any more. He’s a liar and worse.’”

Ethel Kennedy, “the matriarch of the family,” similarly felt scorned, according to Klein. He tells a story of her invitation — extended to the First Family — being ignored by the Obamas. She got so upset “that she went on a rampage inside her house, cursing the president and turning over furniture.”
And to top it all off, Caroline believes “that as a loyal Democrat, she has nowhere to go, no one else to possibly support except Obama” and “the Obamas know that she has nowhere else to go, so they see no point in being nice to her.”
+++
From Edward Klein’s account, one concludes that what ticked off Caroline and Ethel Kennedy is not an ideological or political difference with Obama. What irks the two women is Obama’s “snubbing” them, that is, the two women’s vanity is pricked. In psychological parlance, Caroline Kennedy is now disillusioned about Obama because she has sustained a “narcissistic injury.”
Among the criterial attributes listed by the American Psychological Association’s Diagnostic Statistical Manual for the Narcissistic Personality Disorder are:

  • has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements);
  • believes that he or she is “special” and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions);
  • is interpersonally exploitive, i.e., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends;
  • lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others;
  • shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes.

These attributes are descriptive of the Obamas (Barry and Moochelle), but also of the Kennedys.
Being “interpersonally exploitive,” Obama exploited Caroline Kennedy for her endorsement in 2008, after which he no longer has use for her. And so, he couldn’t even be bothered to visit Caroline when the Obamas summer-vacationed in the Kennedy playground, Martha’s Vineyard.
Good grief. Did Caroline actually imagine the Obamas to have gratitude or empathy? — to “recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others”?
In the end, in the eyes of Barack and especially Michelle, Caroline and the other Kennedys are nothing more than a bunch of privileged white people.

Edward Klein has absolutely no credibility. He’s been caught in many outright lies in the past … The fact that you report this smear merchants lies as fact just goes to show how gullible and hate driven you are.

And I’m sure that Joe McGinniss and all those that bought his book weren’t hate driven at all…
Yet I’m sure The Enquirer was hate driven when reporting on John Edward’s affair.

I think it will be amusing to stand back and watch the whole socialist-liberal agenda implode before our eyes. They are the suckers; we are the producers. What happens when the producers get tired of feeding the suckers?

Klein recently co-authored an anti Obama BIRTHER book. He is HARDLY a liberal. Caroline Kennedy found out Klein was trying to publish a defamatory book on the Kennedy family using the same publisher that she used for her books — She made sure that the publisher had nothing to do with Klein after that … Now you think with Caroline’s noted views on this scum bag, that she would some how give him inside information on her feelings for Obama? .. Seriously? Are you really THAT gullible! Before you post outright lies , why don’t you actually try to research… Read more »

The “Birther” question was started by the Clintons, when running against Obama. It was started by another liberal, in other words. They knew something that others did not. They were silenced.

This was piece spot on to my mind Dr. E! One would think that narcissists are not in need of the company of other narcissists. One is incapable of providing for the needs of the other. Sycophants are the types needed by both the Obamas and the K-clan. We’ve always enjoyed Cape Cod. However I have neither the inclination nor the funds to visit the Vineyard. One can’t help but wonder why any Democrat politician would ever go near that place, aside from the K-clan. They obviously marked their territory (Thanks Uncle Ted!) many moons ago. But the arrogance of… Read more »

Picking up on the snubbing ploy was very insightful. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned (paraphrasing). Don’t white liberals understand? They’re still white! Poor Caroline, being played for a fool with nowhere else to go. Should’ve paid more attention to her family history and learned something from old Joe.

Sorry all, I meant of course “This piece was spot on to my mind Dr. E!” I’m either selectively dyslexic or bass ackwards. Only time of the some though!
One last thought on this piece. Doesn’t it seem that the Clintons, no matter how battered, always choose to stay close to power. If there’s anyone that should have distanced themselves from BS it should have been Hillary. But what do I know? I have high self-esteem.

Doing some research, you will find out that the Clintons were blackmailed to shut up about Obama’s lack of eligibility. The birther idea started with the Clintons, in other words. Now it’s seen as a right wing idea. Libs are great at obfuscating, name calling and redirecting attention.

Thanks for bringing that out Ginger! Libs can run with any side of an issue because the ends always justify their means. If a lib changes stances, they’re “evolving”. Whereas anyone else is a flip flopper.

Well, don’t know about any of you, but I am actually reading this book on my Kindle right now…at Chapter 19 presently on Immaculate Intervention (Libya) and have read this part on the Kennedys’ buyers/sellers remorse. And I can offer two points: 1) everything Dr. Eowyn clarifies is correct; and 2) while Klein repeats himself more than I’d like (many recently published books I’ve read do this, maybe to pad them???? Kitty Kelly’s book on the Bush family did the same thing, and DK Goodwin took to cheerleading Lincoln’s sainthood at every chapter’s end in her Team of Rivals —… Read more »

You seem to know a lot about the politics and the players of today; a subject I am desperately trying to make sense of (especially the past 4 years). I thought President Obama was a good choice in 2008 b/c as senator he voted against raising the debt ceiling during the Bush Administration in 2006. Now, here it is 2012 and I feel like Obama has pulled the rug out from under my feet. His policies are outrageous and I honestly have no clue what his plans are for this Country (which scares me, mostly for my children). And all… Read more »

JFK was a great American PResident, and by knocking the women in his life or who bear the same name the reason he was assassinated cannot be so easily dismissed as being trivial or narcissicistic inspite of the way he has been portrayed as a womanizer etc. Some of his speeches, especially about the Moon Mission and his intentions to increase the water management and prodction facilities in the US cannot ever be permanently erased from history, because of the ripple effect they have both had. Today, two of the most pressing needs are for the perpetuation of his drive… Read more »

James 2:9-12 fits your comment too! 😀 “But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall… Read more »

Hello. I wasn’t referring to his morals, I was referring to the vision of what he had for a manned mission to Mars, and also to his desire to increase water management facilities so that agriculture etc could flourish here in the US. I realise that his failings may have eclipsed his stature as a president in your eyes, and yes, that’s understandable. I too have led a life full of mistakes that had tragic consequences because it’s impossible to escape the ramifications that accompany lousy behavior and poor judgment. However, I still am hopeful that NASA will be refunded… Read more »

Hi again. Thanks for the thumbs up. I guess it’s a bit like when St. Paul was saying that he had a thorn in his side, and asked God to remove it, and God’s response was, My grace is sufficient, or when St. Paul was confessing that he sometimes had trouble not doing what he knew wasn’t right, in spite of knowing not to. Maybe JFK was demonized with a spirit of lust and wasn’t powerful enough spiritually to deal with it, or go and get purged of it. Maybe a coven of warlocks and witches were praying against him,… Read more »

Alice, there is something of what you’ve said about Kennedy not having the chance for redemption. I think he was extremely guilt ridden by how he came to power and by what he was made a part of once there. That he tried to correct and lash out at his handlers likely got him killed. I think often of his speech warning of the secret societies and the hidden agendas but then you must realize that he could have left those societies and agendas behind early in life. He was part of the problem and spoke out from guilt. He… Read more »

Chapter 2 (beginning with v.2 and ending with v.9) from the book of James seems to be quite appropriate for this situation…wouldn’t you agree? “(2) For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of… Read more »

I have no sympathy for Caroline Kennedy with regard to her being snubbed by the king. She aligned herself with a rabid abortion proponent, an individual who has no qualms with late term abortions, in killing little babies. I agree with Dr. Eowyn, that she has suffered narcissistic injury – birds of a feather will flock together. The picture makes me sick.

I don’t think the crux of the matter is whether Klein lied or not. The Kennedy’s live in their own uber rich bubble that doesn’t affect their lives whether the Democrat they support is anti-America or not. It is simply about the party and the power it has afforded them for decades as they must have their share of the royal cheers. I always laughed when I heard the media tag the Kennedy’s as America’s Royalty. Royalty? Old Joe Kennedy was nothing more than a glorified Rum runner. Caroline Kennedy is part of this power-machine and a Kool-Aid drinker of… Read more »

Ditto to you Dr. Eowyn! It never ceases to amaze me how so many individuals miss the point of the posts on FOTM. Perhaps it is their desire to use material fallacies, taking everyone’s minds off the real issues, a strategy that is used to avoid the truth. The fact is, that the king and his wife snubbed Caroline, even though they persistently asked for her endorsement. They used her and then disposed of her, which as you pointed out, is typical of a narcissist. They believe they are entitled people and have no empathy for those people they walk… Read more »
