Cardinal mom & dad feed babies

Are you stressed out?

Spend a few minutes watching a pair of Northern Cardinal parents diligently feed their babies with bugs — and clean out their kids’ poop — and your stress level will plummet. 😀

Funny how these birds work hard to catch bugs to feed their young, whereas so many American human parents just feed off the public trough.  🙁

No wonder St. Bonaventure called animals creatures without sin. In contrast, we humans are born, stained — Fomes peccati (tinder for sin) — inclined toward evil (concupiscence).

  1. They eat more then bugs. They steal my grapes. That’s why they make bird netting to cover grapes, fruit trees, etc. It’s like I’m a taxpayer for the Cardinals too.

    • Give me a break racefish! If you can’t appreciate the beauty and the responsibility of these gorgeous cardinals, mommy and daddy and babies, I feel sorry for you. Our Lord gave us these amazing creatures so that we can learn from them and enjoy them.

In any event, any monies or possessions you have are gifts from God. You should not bitch about what these little cardinals eat.

    • racefish,

It’s interesting that you use the word “steal” in reference to cardinals eating your grapes. Do you think birds have a concept of private property ownership? LOL

Deer used to come into my garden to eat the flowers. So we put up fences surrounding our property. Problem solved. I don’t take deer eating my roses as a personal affront, because if I were a deer, I’d eat the delicious petals too. Sure taste better than grass. 😉

  3. Good stuff, many thanks!

  4. Thank you Dr. Eowyn for this most wonderful post! I absolutely love cardinals. I put some “kit-n-kaboodle” in a dish by my front door and a robin and a cardinal eat the small pieces. When the bowl is a little empty, they come to my front door and peck a bit. So then, I refill it. They are truly beautiful birds. Praise be to God for his glorious creatures!

  5. the cardinals in my neighborhood love sunflower seeds and he makes sure he is heard very loud little bird.
