Fighting and Dying for a Barbaric Culture is Too High of a Price to Pay for Our Brave Soldiers

I understand why we went into Afghanistan, but after 10 years enough is enough. The Afghan people, for lack of a better word are too barbaric, are not interested in moving into the 21st century and not interested in peace, prosperity or civilization.

There is absolutely no reason why our brave men and women continue to fight and die to liberate a country that has no desire to be liberated from bondage or fight for themselves. Almost daily we are hearing of rogue Afghan cops or military shooting and killing U.S. soldiers.

Withdraw our troops now, it’s time to bring them home and stop letting Obama stroke his ego as a wartime president with the blood of our troops. Our military in Afghanistan is being hamstringed at every turn, and like Vietnam, politics is dictating the direction of the war. With politicians, not military leaders directing this war it is quickly becoming a quagmire.

Afghanistan is a backwards, barbaric country ruled by warring tribes, the taliban and a corrupt government and for 10 years we have tried to bring order to the chaos there. Only when the Afghans decide to unchain themselves from their ancient mentality and decide they want to step into the modern era will there be any hope for a lasting peace there.

  1. Joe Quinn laid it all out in his Memorial Day 2012 article, on the thankless, pointless, and the failed Afghan War:

  2. Pray tell us Tom in NC, why we went into Afghanistan? I think the American people would like to know.

    • Some American people would like to know. But you, Ignatius, aren’t one of them because you’re in Limerick, Ireland!

    • All right ig, I’ll try and dumb it down for you. In case you were asleep eleven years ago on 9/11/01 America (not Ireland) was attacked and over 3000 men, women and children died in that attack. The chief planner of that attack was a Saudi that was hiding out in Afghanistan and being protected by the Taliban and other terrorist groups. We went into Afghanistan in pursuit of Osama bin Laden, the Taliban and the other radical muslims that planned, financed and trained for further attacks on our country. Is that simple enough for your simple mind?

Perhaps you should keep your Irish nose OUT of our American affairs.

      • americans are pathetic

“Perhaps you should keep your Irish nose OUT of our American affairs.”
You mean like how America should have kept your nose OUT of Afganistan Affairs?

        • Perhaps you forgot of 9/11 and where the coward Osama and his minions were hiding.

Lest you forget which country has helped to keep peace for many around the world. And which country got involved in saving the world from the devil called Hitler.

How easily trolls forget history and facts to make an insult. Pathetic…

  3. There are some, who believe that we have to correct everything in the world that goes against our way of thinking . These people have lived this way for centuries and we are trying to change the personalities of entire countries and race . Look what is happening in Iraq , we went in tried to make their country better and after we left it’s going back to the 15 century. Read the bible , they are what GOD wants them to be.God said of Ishmael in the Bible, “A wild donkey of a man, and his hand will be against everyone, and everyone’s hand against him, and he will dwell (settle, encamp) in the presence (“in the face”) of his brothers.”

  4. HERE IS WHAT GOD SAYS,God said of Ishmael in the Bible, “A wild donkey of a man, and his hand will be against everyone, and everyone’s hand against him, and he will dwell (settle, encamp) in the presence (“in the face”) of his brothers.” so why is it to us to change things that will always stay the same in these countries

  5. They will never change. They have no desire to live any other way.
Our troops should not have to be there.

  6. IMHO it was all about the pipeline from Russia….
which is why THEY were there, too. Location, location….
    location….then just follow the money.

  7. We should have never gotten involved in Ashcanistan to begin with.

I am tired of our brave soldiers being forced to fight with both hands and one leg tied behind their backs, making them little more than cannon fodder for the ingrates.
