Dance Attack on Jefferson Memorial

Rate this post

Law Enforcement officers on duty at the Jefferson Memorial quickly arrested the dance “attackers” who are now in the custody of Washington DC officials and are being interrogated.

UPDATE (by beloved fellow Artist):
This was a staged protest against a 2008 ruling against a flashmob dance at the Jefferson Memorial by some guy with a TV show called “Adam & the Man”. Adam Kokesh staged this “dance attack,” knowing that dancing is prohibited at the Jefferson Memorial because it is a “performance” which is illegal there because it is considered irreverent in that place.
If Adam Kokesh wanted to he could have danced to his heart’s content just outside the Memorial, but he didn’t because he’s trying to glean attention for his TV show.

  1. I must have missed something……
I heard someone yelling he was kissing his girlfriend
Saw a lot of irritated police
Heard someone yelling about a Police State
    Saw other people milling about
Too bad the police in Madison weren’t this exercised…that whole fiasco would have been over in 10 minutes.

  2. Instead of uncermoniously kicking the smart-assed kids out for dancing in the memorial, they just HAVE to bust them (and threaten people video-ing it on camera)… unlike the crack dealers (this being DC) who hang around public places there (these are bike-riding cops who’d be out patrolling such places). This could’ve been handled better.

Even if your activity is legal, police do not enjoy or tolerate being ignored.

  4. kids provoking, a poor reaction by cops…so?

  5. They were not given citation of what law they would break by dancing. The part just after the police gives up ‘giving’ his warning (still containing no citation of the law) the arrested a couple that was swaying back and forth and kissing. As soon as the police attention was on the couple, the people started quietly dancing, because they were not actually told a law. The police proceeded to arrest as many of them as possible, threatened people with cameras, shut down the monument, and body slammed and choked one of the individuals who wouldn’t put his hands behind his back.
In my opinion, this is poor work on the part of the police.

  6. racial profiling, these darn white kids must be up to something meanwhile 2 blocks away another murder after a drug deal gone bad and several grams of crack change hands.. but hey lets arrest some white kids to diversify the balance sheet.

  7. You can protest a military funereal in the most egregious unkind way; but you can’t dance int he Jerfferson memorial. What a world in which we live!!!!

  8. well well well
it is a good thing to know the backstory…….

He is a s$%t disturber trying to glean attention for his TV show.
I thought it was much ado about nothing, but the guy is a punk, wasting the police officers’ time.

    • Thank you, Artist, for finding the back story! Early yesterday evening when this video appeared on various sites, I couldn’t find an explanation of the event.
I just updated the post with the information you gave. 😉

  9. Civil rights were violated period, lawsuits are being filed, count on it. The Cops will loose, it will be a Jury trial, and the Jury can ignore the Judge’s instructions PERIOD. And that boys and girls is the LAW.
