Another lunar eclipse will occur of December 20, 2011 that is  24th of Kislev 5772 on the Hebrew Calendar.  December 20th, 2011 is the day before Chanukah, the Festival of Lights that occurs from December 21-28 this year.

Sage, as our resident bible teacher, what is the significance of a blood moon in prophecy?

  1. Well I’m not Sage but I found three references to the Blood Moon in the Bible:

In the Old Testament, the prophet Joel states, “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.” (Joel 2:31)

In the New Testament, Jesus is quoted as saying, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light … And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.” (Matthew 24:29-30)

And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; (Revelation 6:12)

For what it’s worth, this year the 8-day Jewish Feast of Sukkot that we call Tabernacles begins on October 13th

Sage, from time to time I listen to Israel National Radio and they’ve devoted whole programs to the 9th of Av. It’s the date they were taken into bondage by Babylon, the date the temple was destroyed in 70 AD, the date the Jews were driven from Spain in 1492 and the date they were forced to abandon Gush Katif aka “Gaza” and hand it over to the arabs aka “palestinians”.

  4. During one such blood moon Alexander the Great beat the crap out of Darius the Persian King. Isn’t there a new Persian/Babylonian/Assyrian upstart in Iran? Why are all the earthquakes being covered up in the world. A comet shall enter between the earth and sun in December called Elenin and there is a big rock following along after it. Prepare for some good times ahead. “And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as if it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers and upon the fountains of waters; revelation 8-10. Also check 8-12. There’ll be a hot time in the ole town soon!

  5. “sage” …. better check what you post for accuracy. Jonah was in the belly THREE days, not “40” = aka telling lies! Puts the rest of your theories in a questionable light.

  6. The lunar eclipse is on December 10, 2011 (not Dec. 20) with the greatest eclipse at 14:31:49 UT in the eastern part of the constellation Taurus. This is according to the NASA website on lunar eclipses. On the Hebrew calendar it is the 14th of Kislev. The next day, on the 15th of Kislev is the anniversary date of the Greeks setting up the “Abomination of Desolation” on the altar of the Temple (wikipedia). The new moon will be on December 24, 2011 (28th of Kislev) on the 5th day of Hanukkah.
