Jimmy Carter "consoled" Helen Thomas

Report: Jimmy Carter consoled Helen Thomas last summer after controversial remarks

If there was any question where former President Jimmy Carter’s sympathies lie, this might shed a little more light on that. According to a column in the Feb. 24 edition of the Falls Church News-Press by Nicholas F. Benton, the editor-in-chief of the publication, the paper’s newest columnist Helen Thomas had a surprise waiting for her after an extraordinary interview she gave to HLN’s Joy Behar last week. That was flowers from Rosie O’Donnell, who had been on the record for defending Thomas in the past.

“O’Donnell sent Thomas, now age 90, flowers in sympathy for the highly upsetting incident and, along with President Jimmy Carter, was one of only a handful of her longtime colleagues and friends to reach out to her,” Benton wrote.

If Carter actually did reach out Thomas following her controversial departure from Hearst, it wouldn’t be out of line with his world view. Carter has been a longtime critic of Israeli policy toward the Palestinians, including in his 2006 book, “Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid.”
The Falls Church News-Press reports: “No stranger to controversy for speaking her mind, Rosie O’Donnell was one of the few to offer veteran White House correspondent Helen Thomas comfort last summer, when Thomas retired under fire for speaking out against Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands in a manner that was falsely alleged to be anti-Semitic.”

Ah yes, saying “Jews should go back Germany or Poland and get the hell out of Palestine”  is not anti-Semitic? This coming from the same woman that said, “Congress, White House, Hollywood and Wall Street are owned by Zionists“.  Glad that Carter, O’Donnell and Behar sympathize with Thomas.  Wish they’d all follow her act, retire, and take their hatred with them, maybe to Germany or Poland.

Oh God! I’m blind! LOL.
As for Jihad Jimmy’s hatred of the Jews, that is reaching Hitlerian proportions.
BTW: No “true” Christian will get away with dissing God’s chosen people.
As such, Jimmy’s in for one Hell of a nasty surprise, as I am guessing Billy has a better chance of passing through the Pearly Gates, even with a can of beer in his hand.

It’s amazing how the Democrat party can call themselves the party of tolerance and nondiscrimination, knowing they put up with people like Jimmy Carter in their midst. That man is racist as the day is long.

No one seems to want to acknowledge that the reason the Reagan years were so phenomenal , was because of his love for Israel. Every President since then has a horrible record. Jimmy Carter professes to be a Baptist, and so does Bill Clinton. Why doesn’t the Southern Baptist Convention make some sort of move against these men? At least a public declaration. Many Christian leaders were eager to sign onto the global warming blarney, yet when this kind of apostasy goes on – nothing. The pulpits of America are being held hostage by the 501c3. You know? The love… Read more »

Israel is the “apple of God’s eye.” I don’t want to be standing near anyone who dares to poke a finger in the eye of the Almighty God! BTW, a few years ago I purchased unique gifts to give to my bff, mother and sisters; Land of Israel necklaces marketed by two IDF servicemen, Ari Abramowitz & Jeremy Gimpel, to support Israeli charities. They’re little glass vial pendants filled with 7 layers of soil from different areas of of Israel that’s suspended on either a leather cord or silver chain. Only $25 for the silver chain and $18 for the… Read more »

I find myself in the awkward position of disagreeing, strongly, with my Christian friends LTG and others on this matter: 1. When the Second Person of the Triune God became incarnate, Jesus made a new Covenant that replaced the old Covenant (of the Old Testament) with the Hebrews. Henceforth, it’s followers of Christ — Jews and Gentiles — who are the Chosen. (Luke 22:20, 1 Corinthians 11:25, 2 Corinthians 3:6, Hebrews 8:8, Hebrews 9:15, and Hebrews 12:24): “For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion to look for a second. For he finds fault… Read more »

Dear Eowyn, “What advantage then hath the Jew? or What profit is there of circumcision? Much every way: chiefly, because unto them were committed the oracles of God.” Romans 3:1 Romans was transmitted to us by Paul – the Apostle to the Gentiles. Covenants are only between YHWH and the children of Israel – we are adopted and under GRACE. There are literally hundreds of Scriptures saying in no uncertain terms that God is not finished with Israel yet. They will not, as a nation, recognize HIM as Messiah, until – “Behold, He cometh with clouds; and every eye shall… Read more »

I’m with sage on this one. We are grafted onto the Jewish vine and share our heritage with Israel inescapably.
