Big change to Social Security coming

Social Security closing officesShowing the POS’s true priorities, the Obama administration is dismantling the bureaucratic infrastructure of the Social Security Administration at dizzying speed while the police-state Department of Homeland Security has ballooned into the largest federal government agency in a mere 13 years, with 240,000 full-time workers, a $61 billion budget, sub-agencies that include the notorious TSA and FEMA, and enough ammo to fight a hot war for 20+ years.

(For more on the DHS leviathan, see “Constitutional attorney: Department of Homeland Security is Obama’s standing army“.)

There are dramatic changes underway that threaten to end Social Security as we know it — yet almost no one has even heard of it.

That’s the warning by J. David Cox Sr., the national president of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE).

AFGE represents more than 670,000 federal and D.C. government employees nationwide, including more than 28,000 Social Security Administration (SSA) field office employees across America.

In an article republished by the Omaha Sun Times on June 16, 2014, Cox explains that the plan is called Vision 2025, and every working American has a stake in it. The plan’s ramifications will affect every working man and woman in this country for generations.

This is how perverse the plan is:

Social Security Administration dispenses $850 billion a year to more than 43 million Americans in 1,200 field offices across the country. SSA has lost 12% of its employees in just the past three years, and another third (30,000 employees) of the SSA workforce will retire in the next decade. “Customer” demand is breaking records, yet failure to fill vacancies means longer waits for appointments, three times longer than last year for assistance on SSA’s 1-800 phone line. SSA’s website that was set up to take pressure off the field offices can’t meet demand either.

So what does the head of SSA do?

The answer is Vision 2025, SSA’s long-range strategic plan for the next 10 years which will be unveiled this Fall.

Cox calls a draft of the plan, being developed for SSA by the National Academy of Public Administration, “frightening”:

  • Most of SSA’s 1,200 field offices will be shut down, leaving the agency with a “significantly smaller and more virtual workforce.” Already, 80 SSA field offices have been closed, with the remaining offices having their hours dramatically reduced.
  • The 30,000 SSA employees who will be retiring will not be replaced.
  • The remaining employees will be “generalists” who lack the technical skills and expertise to address benefits questions.
  • Customers could reach an actual claims representative only in “very limited circumstances,” either through in-person visits, phone calls, online chats or video conferences. In the vast majority of cases, the only way to interact with SSA would be online, through the SSA website’s “online self-service delivery.”

Self-service checkout may work at grocery stores, but it’s not the right model for an agency tasked with determining complex retirement and disability benefits for tens of millions of Americans each year.

Most of the individuals contacting SSA for help are elderly, disabled or indigent. Many others are active seniors who simply are overwhelmed by the complicated maze of laws, regulations and policies pertaining to retirement benefits. They deserve and expect face-to-face interaction with skilled employees who can ensure they receive all the benefits they are owed.

The American Federation of Government Employees will submit testimony at a congressional hearing on SSA’s plan to dismantle the program. We are urged to contact our Congressional critters because our retirement security — to which we’ve contributed our entire working life — is at stake.

  1. OMG!!! After stealing a huge chunk of every pay check during all our working years, they are now planning on making off with the money entirely?!!!

  2. The basic cause of our economic problems is not mentioned by politicians. That cause is NAFTA! Repeal that and similar agreements, impose tariffs, become once again a sovereign nation, not a supplier of military forces for the globalist tyranny the Rockefellers and others want to impose.

  3. Ironic, isn’t it,that ALL these Horrible travesties have waited until THIS PARTICULAR ADMINISTRATION to land on America’s chest like a ton of bricks? Blame whoever you wish, but the fact remains that,on average, We (The People of America) had things pretty damned good in this Country for well over 200 years, then in just under a DECADE things have suddenly gone so horribly WRONG. I feel like it began when “somebody” started pushing GOD out of public favor,in Government,in Law,in Education,in our Military. Think about it…..

  4. The link, above, where it says, “join the discussion” only leads to a union site where, if you are a government employee, you can register, pay your dues and so on.
So, it’s kind of a worthless link.

The best way to join the discussion is to write our individual representatives in both houses of Congress. ( Not that I truly expect anything like that to actually do any good. ) I truly believe, though, that the “agenda” is already set and in motion … whether it be NWO or Agenda 21, however you wish to describe it.

Needless to say, We The People, need to somehow get our country back. We need to stop borrowing from China & giving all that money to people who hate us. We need to start making “America First” for a change.

Our infrastructure is falling apart. We have God only knows how many homeless and at risk of becoming homeless. We have a Government that takes care of non-citizens, in preference to taking care of those who give it the money it loves to spend so profusely….. and quite possibly illegally.

I am in complete agreement that our SS should be taken care of properly and appropriately , because we are among the largest group of seniors ever.

Congress passed a bill, a long time ago, allowing them to dip into SS monies. That needs repealed and the money already stolen, needs replaced. The people who provide our SS services, need to keep working and work toward doing what they are supposed to be doing, rather than fighting against paying those who’ve paid in.

This same principle goes for all government offices, like the VA for example. And it’s only We The People can get things set straight. Hopefully, in a legal and speedy manner, rather than by force…. as many are now suggesting.

Another civil war would not be good for the country and all one has to do is look around at all the evidence, to see that this is actually what the powers that be really want. Obama wants to declare martial law so he can stay in office until HE decides there’s no more so-called ” national emergency”, where he can enact FEMA laws.

OK… that was off topic … but I’ve been known to ramble on when talking about our most awesome current government.

  5. Those dang costly old people… now we know why SSA bought all those hollow-point bullets.

  6. Hope and change…

  7. The evil continues…

  8. The communist left wants you to die, preferably one day before your benefits kick in.

After all, they need that money to support (and thus buy the votes of) the illegal invaders that will hand them a permanent democrat majority.

    – Never mind that it will very quickly mean the end of what little is actually left of what was once America.

What money? SS witholding has been rolled into the General Fund, by our illustrious representatives, for as long as I remember. There is no SS Fund.

If you are just waking up, welcome to the noghtmare I have been living through for the last few decades. I have friends and family that thought I was nuts back in the mid 70’s when I first started sounding the alarm.

Hopefully, and I am hopeful, we can change this with God’s help and lots of prayer.

  11. Thank you Dr. Eowyn for this important post. Clearly, this is stealing. It is my hope that AFGE will fight effectively in this matter.

  12. To fix Social Security, I suggest the following: Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security. – All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose by anyone, except for those who paid into it!.
