Biden vows to bring back Obamacare’s individual mandate penalty for not having insurance

From CNBC: Joe Biden, former vice president and 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful, said Friday he would bring back the individual mandate, the penalty for not having health insurance, which was a pillar of the Affordable Care Act.

“Yes, I’d bring back the individual mandate,” Biden said in an interview on CNN. The individual mandate would be popular now, “compared to what’s being offered,” he added.

Biden played an integral part in crafting the ACA, commonly known as Obamacare. However, President Donald Trump eliminated the individual mandate in 2017 by signing the Republican tax bill, effective the 2019 tax year.

Nearly all of the Democratic presidential hopefuls support some kind of government health-care plan.

While he does not support of “Medicare for All,” Biden said people should have the option to buy into Medicare if they want it.

“If you provide an option for anybody who in fact wants to buy into Medicare for All, they can buy in,” the Democratic presidential front-runner said.

Biden also took a nuanced approach Friday, saying he supports providing emergency health care for undocumented immigrants in the U.S.

“I think undocumented people need to have a means by which they can be covered when they’re sick,” Biden said. “In an emergency, they should have health care.”

For the life of me I have the hardest time wrapping my mind around the proposition of “providing health care for illegal immigrants!” I certainly would not expect that the citizens of a foreign nation provide health care for me should I venture to visit their country.

Gosh, you would think that we as a nation do not have an overwhelming debt crisis . . . and we are just free to spend like drunk sailors . . . .

I have an even harder time understanding these judge’s recent decisions based on alleged “violations of the invader’s Constitutional rights”. What “Constitutional rights”?

So Illegal invaders get free health care but citizens get fined? Now there’s an idea that has legs.

Well, it looks good on paper. Whoever came up with it I’m sure got a promotion. But I don’t think they work for us, pretty sure about that too. American citizens are the enemy. They must be displaced, fined, crushed, eradicated. The Odor commands it

Here’s one more reason the Democrats will Ole Papá Joe Bid’n goodby. How stupid to try to bring back what didn’t work and bilked people’s pockets. Senile Joe needs to be reminded that Obama is gone and he needs to move forward, no matter what the number say you are receding just like your hairline, you represent the old party and the new left doesn’t have room fo you. But, stay in until the end, we need you to win.

People in emergency situations, hit by a truck, a kid with life-threatening pneumonia, should be treated on moral grounds and as soon as they are well sent back to where they came from. Emergency care is different from long-term ongoing health care. Paid for by us. That’s absurd. We have no moral or legal obligation to provide that. Unfortunately there is potential for abuse as the demoncrats would distort the meaning of “emergency” beyond recognition. Biden “the Democratic presidential front-runner..” Do they have any idea how pathetic that sounds? No, they don’t

My medical insurance consumes a huge percent of my annuity. I paid premiums my entire working life and I still pay them today. Do I think there are better ways to do this? Absolutely. I have no love for insurance companies or the medical-industrial complex. There are already laws on the books related to price-fixing and “gouging”. They should be enforced. In a true competitive market the price would drop dramatically. That is not what we have. One of government’s legitimate roles is protecting the population against predatory business practices. So-called “health care” is like the “Just-Us” system. We keep… Read more »

Yeah. Maybe the strategy ought to be getting people to listen to what they’re actually saying. That should do it.

President Trump should vow to reinstate the natural born citizen clause of the Constitution, fetch Obama’s bona fide BC from Hawaii and if it’s not the real McCoy wipe out Obama-care in its entirety along with challenging everything else he did.
