Because he's done so well? De Blasio is ready to give himself a nice fat raise

Only in government: Reward a judge who went soft on cop-hating thugs, let school kids get away with bad behaviors by giving them a “warning card“, an increase of homelessness under your watch, and voters disapprove of your handling of just about everything. Give yourself a raise!

The good mayor of New York City, Bill de Blasio, is backing a plan to give hefty pay hikes to the city’s elected officials — including himself — but with the catch that council members go full-time and give up their lucrative “lulu” bonuses. The plan was recommended by a special three-member committee which de Blasio empaneled last fall.
According to the New York Post, the mayor’s salary will jump 15 percent, from $225,000 to $258,750. But here’s your incentive New Yorkers to no re-elect him: de Blasio said he would not accept the raise unless elected to a second term in two years.
City council members will get a 23 percent boost from $112,500 to $138,315. But in return, legislators with outside jobs would have to give them up. Bonuses of $8,000 to $20,000 for chairing committees, known as “lulus,” will be eliminated.
The commission also recommended bumping up salaries 12 percent for borough presidents to $179,200 yearly, district attorneys to $212,800, and the public advocate to $184,800. The city comptroller will get a 13 percent hike in pay from $185,000 to $209,050.
And to make this all look legitimate, the higher salaries must still be formally approved by both the mayor and council. I wish I could have a job where I formally approve my own raise!

The political machine in NY does not represent all of New York, and Cruz lost my endorsement with his remark.
But if it came down to him or some Democrat, of course he’s better.

I’d say that the City of New York fails to represent the majority of New Yorkers unless one hearts the union labels or CPUSA.
As for Cruz, his crack about New York was a smack in the face. Bad move.

The de Blasio administration is the most corrupt in thirty years, maybe even longer. Fleecing every New Yorker bone dry, the de Blasio administration has created legislation that if given the right opportunity, a summons could be issued to every New Yorker (at least one summons, anyway).

The concentration of commerce; technology;, World finance; the UN; WTC; legacy immigrant neighborhoods and its role in the creation of our country makes NYC different and comparisons to other cities and states difficult.
But not a defense for the political corruption.

15% raise is a heck of a jump considering our poor military only gets 1.5 % this year and seniors on SS get zip, yet again.
City, state, Fed makes no difference, the are all crooks.
