Attention environmentalists: You can buy Bette Midler’s NYC 7,000 square foot home for just $50 million

What do you suppose the carbon footprint is from the size of her house? Doesn’t matter because we’re all going to “burn, drown or starve” due to climate change and President Trump’s policies.

From Daily Mail: Bette Midler’s lavish Fifth Avenue penthouse apartment has gone on sale for an astonishing $50 million after the much-loved singer and entertainer revealed she wanted to downsize now that her daughter has flown the nest.

The Wind Beneath My Wings songstress, 73, who is married to performance artist Martin von Haselberg, has lived in the Upper East Side triplex which boasts stunning views of the Central Park reservoir, since 1996.

With a more than generous 7,000 square feet of space and an additional 3,000 square feet of outdoor space, the property is among the best of its kind anywhere in New York City.

Midler’s daughter, Sophie von Haselberg, was schooled nearby but now in her thirties and pursuing a career in acting in LA, the singer explained it was time to let another family enjoy the property.

The asking price is $50 million, according to the listing broker, John Burger of Brown Harris Stevens, with $25,515 in monthly maintenance.

‘It’s time for another family to enjoy it,’ Ms. Midler told The New York Times, adding that she and Mr. von Haselberg ‘consider ourselves die-hard New Yorkers’ and plan to downsize into another Manhattan home.

After the units were initially bought, the interior was completely overhauled with an expansion by architect Frederick Fisher and Partners, the Brown Harris Stevens sales listing shows.

‘The ceilings were lower,’ Midler said of the property before it’s upgrade. ‘The corridors narrower, and many of the rooms were much smaller’. Today, she said, ‘it’s like a country house in the city.’

The triplex offers four bedrooms and six and a half baths, plus a home gym sizeable enough to be converted into a fifth bedroom. The penthouse has around 3,000 square feet of outdoor space that provide direct views of the Central Park reservoir.

I wonder what down sizing means for ppl like her.

Hope she takes it off the market for lack of presumable buyers. She’ll be stuck with it like we are stuck with her.

Not to sound “anti-semitic”, but I sometimes wonder if The Tribe has a monopoly on fugly. I mean that face would stop Big Ben cold

I live in a college town teaming with members of The Tribe.
Honestly, one day while driving around, I saw a woman member of The Tribe, and I thought: “How can God’s chosen people be so ugly?”
That was the beginning of my getting red-pilled on The Tribe.

Inbreeding

Oddly, the inbreeding hasn’t affected their average group (not individual) intelligence.

Granted, the typical Tribe member is above average in native intelligence, but I think most of that has to do with, as my father used to say, their “emphasis on academic discipline”. I respect that. But in the present generation there is evidence that their “high intelligence” is being watered down, mainly through laziness. Jared is exhibit A

Let me get my violin out, NOT!

Bette is right about one thing, though: It’s time to let someone else enjoy it. Although I cannot understand why ANYONE would spend $25 grand a month on rent. Seriously: If I were a gadzillionaire, I would never spend money on certain things. But that’s me.

Meanwhile, Middler the Meddler remains a real NOODGE!

Revisiting (reluctantly) the photo of Bette – beady reptilian eyes, prominent hooked proboscis, clown lips, small apples surgically implanted in her cheeks – the Frankfurt School verison of “beautiful”. She looks (and talks) like a caricature of an aging Yenta who is sliding into dementia. Or late-stage Kuru
