Current Sr. Google Engineer Goes Public on Camera: Tech is “dangerous,” “taking sides”

by Staff Report

  • Insider: “It’s time to decide, do we run the technology, or does the technology run us?”
  • “I really don’t buy the idea that big tech is politically neutral.”
  • “Are we going to just let the biggest tech companies decide who wins every election from now on?”
  • “I look at search and I look at Google News and I see what it’s doing and I see Google executives go to Congress and say that it’s not manipulated. It’s not political. And I’m just so sure that’s not true.”
  • “I have a PhD, I have five years’ experience at Google and I just know how algorithms are. They don’t write themselves. We write them to do what we want them to do.”

I have worried about this for years. When “media” was controlled through the FCC they had to adhere to certain rules or lose their broadcast license. This wasn’t perfect, but it made them cautious. Clinton did away with the “Fairness Doctrine” which required that political opinion receive equal treatment on both sides of an issue. Then Obongo comes along and through EO’s decides that “media” can lie to us, propagandize us, etc.. The whole idea of government oversight, onerous as it is, is in the case of monopolies. Big Tech is a leftist advocate, hoping to be rewarded…

Thank you for this critically important intel, Trail. It sheds light on what is going on inside Big Tech and tells us they’re NOT “neutral.” I don’t know why Trump is dragging his heels on this; Certainly he has been hamstrung by Obama’s appointments and by Jeff Sessions. Now DOJ has begun to get it in gear. This also affects me as a rideshare driver: We are at the mercy of algorithms also. And WHO is Uber, Lyft or any other platform to say they are not discriminating against any driver? It seems to me that picking and choosing winners… Read more »

I just hope that somehow our Congress (although they are noted for doing nothing most of the time) will take the menace of tech giants to heart.

Me too, but I’m not holding my breath. Even after their little failed show today they’re still at it. Any election they lose they’re gonna blame it on “Russians”.

There was a time when they would not have gotten away with showing such open disregard for their fellow citizens. These people are actually coup plotters and should be treated accordingly. They don’t care what they have to do or how they get what they want.

Yeah, it’s getting bad. As I think I’ve said here before recently, I’m noticing that my Google searches on news are turning up only hits (at least the first page, where I focus) to leftist – progressive – TDS sites. Pretty much exclusively.

That needs to be addressed in Congress.
