America: Coming Full Circle from the 1960’s

Cross-posted from trevorloudon.com

May 30, 2020

This is being written moments after the successful launch of the Crew Dragon – atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. This marks the first time in about a decade that the United States of America has been capable of launching astronauts into space – heralding a triumphant recovery from the Obama administration’s evisceration of NASA.

It crossed my mind that, thanks to Obama, the 50th anniversary of America’s moon landing passed with America rendered incapable of even launching an astronaut into orbit. Just one of the many wrenching examples of Obama’s “fundamental transformation” of America.

So watching on TV this American with several grey hairs could detect dampness in his eyes – as memories of the “space race” and John Glenn; the tragedy of Apollo 1 fire; the Apollo 8 crew reading from The Book of Genesis on Christmas Eve, 1968; and America’s triumphant landing on the moon in July, 1969 – all came flooding back.

Today’s launch is yet another fitting symbol that President Trump’s “Make America Great Again” is well underway – “promises made, promises kept.”

Yet earlier today the news was (and is still) immersed with stories of race-based rioting across the land. This writer as a sixth grader (1968) remembers being transported on a Navy bus from on-base housing to a school in Waukegan, Illinois. Our usual enlisted-man driver had a .45 strapped to his belt – which got all of us boys quite excited. He explained that he’d been up all night, shuttling National Guard troops into Chicago due to the “race riots” there, and had been ordered to be armed.

Doesn’t it seem somehow odd that echoes of the positives and negatives of the 1960’s are occurring now? But will the results this time prove to be the antithesis of the fallout from the 1960’s; are we on the cusp of bright new days? There’s reason to believe so.

With the benefit of hindsight, it could be said that the 1960’s as we now know them kicked off with the assassination of President Kennedy. Yes, we were already involved in the “space race.” And the civil rights movement was well underway, as was our involvement in Vietnam.

But the optimism that America could conquer any challenge – be it space, or poverty – propelled by a shared culture, and a belief in America and the American Dream, soon turned into anti-war protests and calls for revolution, and “race riots.” Within a few years, we hit a plateau in middle-class earnings (that still have not fully recovered).

The 1970’s brought energy crises and Watergate and malaise. The 1980’s brought a counter-trend rally of sorts (thank you President Reagan!); but the decline of the middle-class continued as globalism brought the offshoring of jobs then and through the 1990’s and 2000’s.

Meanwhile, a permanent underclass came into existence as a consequence of the “War on Poverty” and the Progressive culture’s displacement of “traditional values” – a spiraling illegitimacy rates causing rates of poverty to stop the decline that had been underway prior to the 1960’s.

An axis of Progressivism, the media and the ACLU successfully pursued a jihad of “cultural Marxism” against American values and Christianity (as well-documented in David Horowitz’s book Dark Agenda: The War to Destroy Christian America).

In short, over the past several decades, forces of darkness have had America on a trajectory of deliberately inflicted decline. The Obama administration nearly consummated this “fundamental transformation,” but didn’t get it quite over the finish line. And in a moment of maximum peril for our land, all signs pointed to a “President Hillary” – who in her first term was well-positioned to inject the final, fatal dose of Progressivism.

Then a miracle happened (perhaps, quite literally, a miracle) – Donald Trump was elected President of the United States. The Progressives in this country went absolutely berserk (this writer found the gnashing of teeth and histrionics on the part of the Left reminiscent of the spinning head, green vomit spewing character in the movie The Exorcist).

In any case, this new era – this full-circle from the 1960’s – began with an unsuccessful assassination attempt on President Trump (fortunately a political assassination attempt, but still an attempt to “take him out”).

But the “full circles” don’t stop there.

Today’s launch back into space, with serious talk of returning to the moon, and then on to Mars, is arguably picking up where we left off in the early 1970’s. We’ve endured a period of retrenchment and decline, and are now resuming our advance.

The 1960’s civil rights movement and “race riots” had their origins in true injustice, and so legitimate grievances. The current “race riots” arise from a kind of full-circle dynamic: they largely are AstroTurf affairs, fomented by Antifa and a White-billionaire funded “Black Lives Matter.” Earlier today I happened to watch a YouTube by Candace Owens, in which she explains well this dynamic, and how the civil rights struggle has actually been won.

Increasingly, Blacks are awakening to the fact that the Democrat Party and Progressives have been corralling them on a political plantation. In this emerging full-circle era, instead of descending into that victimhood, Martin Luther King’s dream is ready to be grasped by Black Americans.

President Trump is helping that along. As he battles the forces of globalism, he is bringing jobs back home, Blacks and all Americans will enjoy a sustained rising standard of living – the first since the 1960’s.

Reminiscent of the 1960’s, we do seem to be entering a new “cold war” era, albeit with Communist China instead of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. But even here there is cause for optimism, for thanks to President Trump we have a resurgent America rising to meet the challenge, instead of a “lead from behind” American-declinist such as Obama or Hillary. A strong America will serve as a beacon for the world; our allies can have renewed confidence in America, and together we can stand firm against that increasingly aggressive Collectivist power.

We can’t know now. But it is possible that decades hence we’ll look back and assess that with the election – twice, God willing – of Donald Trump, we embarked on a new era, an antithesis of the cultural and economic declines that have haunted us since the 1960’s. That the ascendance of Progressivism and globalism that began in the 1960’s had peaked and began to reverse.

Who knows – perhaps our nation by then will have enjoyed a new religious awakening – and there’ll be a consensus that in the times we’re currently living, prayers were answered, two miraculous elections occurred, and that this divinely inspired nation was saved from ruin.

NASA- Not A Space Agency.
How’d they get through the frying radiation from the Van Allen belts and lived? And cosmic radiation too…the flag was ‘rippling’ in the wind? ON the moon?
Most ‘moon landing hoax’ info is censored.

All fine and dandy….until you discover the moon landings were filmed on the same sound stage in north london as the epic 2001 a space oddysey.
The space program is as fake as the atomic/nuke weapons programs. Smoke, mirrors and hollywood special effects (at USAAF Lookout Mountain studio in Laurel Cyn) were used to steal trillions of dollars in non working spending programs.

As for spacex…..launching 60 5G 60GHz capable satellites each month in the ramp up to over 10K 5g sats in earth orbit….the skies are now literally polluted with hunan made junk and weapons systems.
Any doubts as to how much crabb is up their?
Go to the heavens above app and set “minimum magnitude” to “none” and then you will see the sky is literally crawling with thousands of radio and communications (weapons?) satellites 24-7.

Apollo Astronaut Was Murdered, Son Charges    Christopher Ruddy  February 11, 1999   Virgil I. “Gus” Grissom, the astronaut slated to be the first man to walk on the moon, was murdered, his son has charged in the Feb. 16 edition of Star magazine.    In another stunning development, a lead NASA investigator has charged that the agency engaged in a cover-up of the true cause of the catastrophe that killed Grissom and two other astronauts.    The tabloid exclusive by Steve Herz reports that Scott Grissom, 48, has gone public with the family’s long-held belief that their father was… Read more »

Thanks for the comment. I knew his granddaughter. I didn’t know that the family had suspicions that he was murdered. It is also odd that he was under Secret Service protection. They don’t have a very good track record unfortunately.

Beautiful article.

PS- I love my FOTM friends who are just as doubtful about the Apollo missions as I am!

I love that I can be excited and heartened by the recent launch to space (watched it live with my 6 year old son- I like to think he will remember it) and still totally doubt the moon landing.

Thank you Tom Wigand, for this encouraging article. The national disgrace of the Obama administration is being washed away one stain at a time, and this launch from American soil is part of it.

My question to the Moonlanding-SpaceProgram-NASA doubters:

If it’s all a gigantic hoax, why did America’s enemies — the former Soviet Union (now Russia) and Communist China — not expose the hoax? Instead, they have their own aggressive space programs, with China last year (?) landing on the dark side of the Moon.

Excellent question. If there was anyone that would want to expose us you know it would be the Chicoms. In. A. Heartbeat.

It’s not a hoax. But it’s a tremendous waste of money that could be better wasted elsewhere… let them develop velcro, super glue, LEDs, Tang, protein bars, etc. here on Earth.   The only part of it I ever questioned was how the heck they were able to communicate in near-real time with Neil and Buzz (in VIDEO, not just audio) back in ’69… how was that possible?   I can’t even get a decent Wi-Fi signal in my backyard with an 802.11ac router at 5GHz. They were ~240,000 miles away. I STILL can’t always get a good signal from… Read more »

Great post. I have been having some doubts about Trump, not because of his record, but because it seems they finally got to him. Be that as it may, we are, I believe, in a Nietzschean age of the transvaluation of all values. The Left has become everything they used to hate. They cannot live without crisis or controversy. Or hatred. I am reminded of Yeats’ “The Second Coming”: “The worst among them are filled with a passionate intensity/While the best lack all conviction.”

It is a foretaste of an Eternity without God.
