A show to avoid: The pompous Bourdain and Travel Channel’s “Parts Unknown”

LEAVE INACTIVE - DUPE EVENT 6th Annual Food Network Wine & Food Festival - Anthony Bourdain Book Signing
Anthony Bourdain is a 60-year-old celebrity chef. He hosts a show called, “Parts Unknown” on the Travel Channel. He also believes his opinion is incredibly important. The celebrity chef has said that he won’t dine with Donald Trump any time this century.
From Huff Po: Anthony Bourdain is not one to beat around the bush. The man has said he’d like to see the pumpkin spice craze “drowned in its own blood,” for crying out loud.
So when the “Parts Unknown” host was asked if he’d consider breaking bread with Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump, Bourdain did not hold back. Absolutely f***ing not,” Bourdain told TheWrap.
“I’ve been a New Yorker most of my life, [and] for better or worse Mr. Trump is a New Yorker,” Bourdain continued. “We know him well here. We’ve watched how he does business and we’ve watched him say things and then we’ve seen whether or not he did those things, we have seen how he treats the people he does business with. I would give the same answer that I would have given 10 years ago, when he was just as loathsome.”
Earlier this year, Bourdain said he would like to grab a bite with Trump, just to ridicule him the entire time. “I’d like to see him struggle with chopsticks and eat a well done f―-ing steak,” Bourdain told the New York Daily News.

For what it’s worth, Bourdain, who famously dined with President Barack Obama in Vietnam for last week’s season premiere, didn’t seem particularly eager to grab a bite with Hillary Clinton, either (yet had no harsh words for her).
“Honestly, that’s not the business I’m in,” Bourdain told TheWrap. “I mean [Obama] kind of fell in our lap… it’s something I’m really grateful I did this time around but it was an extraordinary occurrence.”
Hey Bourdain, did you ever think that maybe Trump doesn’t want to dine with you? What a pompous jerk.

“Pompous jerk” perfectly describes this all-round fine example of a human being. /sarc
Son of a Jewish mother, Bourdain said he was raised “without religion”. A 2-pack a day smoker, he is a former user of cocaine, heroin, and LSD. Because of his liberal use of profanity and sexual references in his television show No Reservations, the network has to insert viewer discretion advisories on each segment of each episode.

Do not like him as a judge on the cooking shows. Now I know I do not like him. He may have risen to the second most loathsome person I now refuse to watch, listen to, or support in any way. The first most loathsome person is Miley Cyrus. I will excuse a lot when it comes to the liberal programming on TV, but when I reach this point there is absolutely no turning back for me.

Missourians have always been so level-headed and dependable….Thanks. These are the two human beings I REFUSE to recognize as fellow Earthlings, too. I also don’t pay any mind to that Beaver kid from Canada or Lindsay Lohan….well….since I’m on a roll….there’s so many……no point in going on……

Why is it necessary to mention every time an a hole leftie pompous creep has any Jewish parentage? As a Jew, I wince at this subtle nod to anti-Semitism. This is done often when the evil George Soros is mentioned. Hillary is a Methodist, a flavor of Christianity that is uber progressive, while Tim Kaine is a Catholic, educated by Jesuits, supposedly with pro life leanings in the past, who is the running mate for this harridan who fully supports abortion up until the moment of birth, because “they are not human beings until then”, a member of a religion… Read more »

Anti-Semitism again. How is “Son of a Jewish mother, Bourdain said he was raised ‘without religion’” anti-Semitic, “subtle nod” or not? Is there any mention of Jews that isn’t anti-Semitic? or are Jews and Jews alone the SOLE arbiters of what constitutes anti-Semitism? By the way, that’s a misnomer. The word “Semitic” is not an equivalent of Jewish. Semitic refers to language groups that include Arabic.

I simply point out that every time a dirtbag is born a Jew, it is pointed out.
This is not done with all the other dirtbags out there… their religions are not listed after their names with the predictable regularity that is done with Jewish dirtbags.
I don’t appreciate the ” anti-Semitism again” comment, either.
Just take a look at what is happening on university campuses everywhere. G-d forbid, anytime Israelis build a house.

I’ve repeatedly pointed out in my posts that Nancy Pelosi & Joe Biden (& now Tim Kaine) are nominal Catholics. One of the biggest dirtbags I post about is Pope Francis, Catholic — and I’m a Catholic. In the 2012 election, I explicitly noted that Mitt Romney is Mormon. In my posts on Glenn Beck, I point out he’s Mormon. Certainly, FOTM never misses an opportunity to point out that someone is Muslim. In the case of Jews, I sometimes point that out because I am gob-smacked and remain mystified how and why, in the U.S., such a small percentage… Read more »

Early on, we used to watch him, then his self importance took over. He progressed from popping funnies to a downright jerk. As soon as the lefties start inserting politics and religion into the arena, I am gone. I wonder if his Italian wife is Catholic and how she feels. The guy really needs to lay off the sauce. As for Miley Cyrus, we used to watch the voice because of great singing and positive input. This season, they have her as a judge, and our TV dial refuses to stop at the channel. One by one, shows are being… Read more »

Wiki says Bourdain and his 2nd wife, Ottavia Busia, divorced this year.

Yeah, his wife (a wannabe female MMA fighter) was having multiple affairs with her male “training partners”. Maybe that’s why the guy is so vocal; it’s a lot easier to curse and jabber than to man-up and take any real, physical action.

Bourdain has become a complete, depressing jerk.
Andrew Zimmern’s shows are much better, as he has a much better personality then Bourdain, and he always seems to be having a really great time meeting the people he has on his show.
Bourdain always looks like he is having to do his shows at gunpoint.

…that isn’t to say he’s not pompous…as he has been for a while now…his original series on food tv (before he went to travel channel and ‘no reservations’) was interesting and he was low-key for the most part if memory serves. Unlike these days: an insufferable pretentious hack, desperate to look uber-cool (the tats are stark evidence of this) who always feels it necessary to frequent the seediest spots and feature blood in an almost ritual manner. I have also switched to Zimmern’s show, and Rick Steves as well (he is always sure to feature cathedrals and delve into the… Read more »

When Bourdain first came on TV I really enjoyed his off-the-cuff humor. But with more success came more liberty to speak his mind, which by now has totally turned me off. Among other things, he is very friendly with islam, outspokenly in favor of Marxism, full of off color language, and full of himself. I saw his recent Vietnam episode in which he had a beer with President Obama. In that magic moment Bourdain couldn’t resist mocking Trump’s idea of a wall on the Mexican border. I liked the guy. Too bad he’s such a jerk.

I agree with you–I liked him, too, until I’d watched enough of his newer shows to let me know the guy really has gone ‘off the rails’ at this point, and is so over-the-top full of himself, that he’s become nauseating. His shows used to be the ones that appealed to me the most–no longer, though, and for just the reasons espoused here in this thread.

I liked him back then, too, as he had a bit of a cynical streak about him.
As do I. 😉

“God Emperor”? That’s idolatry. Not to mention the contradiction of asking God to bless “God Emperor”.
