A man and his dog

John Unger rescued Schoep as a puppy 19 years ago.

Man and dog have gone everywhere together and are inseparable. But Schoep has arthritis now.

Unger discovered that the buoyancy of water is therapeutic for Schoep’s achy joints. So every night, he carries his dog into the lake to give his best friend some relief….

This photo of Unger and Schoep in Lake Superior was taken by Unger’s friend, Wisconsin professional photographer Hannah Stonehouse Hudson.

Prints can be purchased from Hudson who donates part of the proceeds toward Schoep’s vet bills.
