A Dog's Seeing-Eye Dog

Rate this post

Lily is a Great Dane that has been blind since a bizarre medical condition required that both eyes had to be removed.
For the last 5 years, Maddison, another Great Dane, has been Lily’s seeing-eye dog.
The two are inseparable.

H/t my ol’ friend Sol.

  3. Amazing, indeed! We adopted a Great Dane in May of 2003, a puppy, from a man – backyard breeder – who threw the Father of the puppies on a trash pile while he was still alive [full-grown Great Dane, weighed 60 pounds!]. Patrick Johnson was charged with abuse and cruelty, but given merely a “slap on the hand in court.” The story of Handsome is here: https://www.happyboarding.com/Handsome.html I keep meaning to send Michelle an e-mail telling her there is a typo in the story. It was 2003, not 2001. Our Rottweiller passed away on 3/4/3, and it was very shortly thereafter we adopted Sterling, one of Handsome’s puppies that was removed… It was also the year we moved to Saudi. Not a year – 2003 – I will ever forget. Saddly, Sterling passed away 10/1/10, after a brief but brave battle with bone cancer. Great Danes are amazing dogs; gentle giants. Not a day goes by when I don’t miss Sterling, and Sergeant, the Rottweiller we had before we adopted Sterling…
