Thirty years ago today, President Reagan survived an assassination attempt by John Hinckley Jr.

I’ve read somewhere [will start to research it now] that the Bush family and John Hinckley’s family knew one another, and had dinner together shortly before this incident, which has been portrayed as a “Manchurian candidate” set-up by the Bushes. Does anyone else know something on this?
My take is that there are no conspiracies; only longer-term plans.
Thank you! RR was the only Republican for whom my father ever voted, which I found surprising at the time, but in retrospect understand better. As Mark Twain remarked, “When I was fifteen, I thought my dad wasn’t very smart. But when I was thirty-five, I noticed how much smarter he’d become!”
Thank God Reagan survived…
That’s fascinating…and it makes sense. Why would the Secret Service or any body guard look at the President or client, instead of at people around him/her. The client isn’t a threat to him/herself. LOL
