Sunday Devotional: An Ode to the Creator

Psalm 139:13-16, 17-18, 1-10

You formed my inmost being;
you knit me in my mother’s womb.
I praise you, because I am wonderfully made;
wonderful are your works!
My very self you know.
My bones are not hidden from you,
When I was being made in secret,
fashioned in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw me unformed;
in your book all are written down;
my days were shaped, before one came to be.

How precious to me are your designs, O God;
how vast the sum of them!
Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the sands . . . .

LORD, you have probed me, you know me:
you know when I sit and stand;
you understand my thoughts from afar.
You sift through my travels and my rest;
with all my ways you are familiar.
Even before a word is on my tongue,
LORD, you know it all.
Behind and before you encircle me
and rest your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
far too lofty for me to reach.
Where can I go from your spirit?
From your presence, where can I flee?
If I ascend to the heavens, you are there;
if I lie down in Sheol, there you are.
If I take the wings of dawn
and dwell beyond the sea,
Even there your hand guides me,
your right hand holds me fast.

And to think this awesome Creator loves us, you and me, every one of us.

He loves us so much that He humbled Himself by becoming flesh, endured unimaginable torture, to willingly die for our redemption.

God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, I love you with my whole heart, my whole soul, my whole mind, and with all my strength.

May the peace and love of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you,

~Eowyn

  5. Amen. So many people are often put off by the Psalms. They feel like they are not for today, or are just too flowery in language, or not the way that we speak today. But if people like that would actually study them, not just read them, but really study them, and learn why each one was written, when it was written, what was going on politically and what was going on in the authors life, mostly David, then they will get a new appreciation of them, and will get a bit more of an understanding of the Psalms. I have said that I think that Psalms are humans reaching up to God, and Proverbs are God reaching down to man.
    Just a wonderful devotional, Dr. Eowyn, I love the Old Testament as well as the New, it is so full, and so applicable to our lives today, if we just learn from it.

  6. When I was a boy, the atheists used to demand some sort of “empirical proof” for the existence of God. Now, some 55 years later, that “empirical proof” has begun to come forth: Dr. Ted Broer says that the study of quantum physics has yielded us much great information that we just did not know even 20 years ago. And FOTM has posted stories on the Shroud of Turin and the electronic monitoring of the spot reputed to have served as Our Lord’s tomb.

    Not only this, but here is more proof that we “do not know one millionth of one percent about anything,” as Edison maintained: A mere five or so years ago, some scientists came out and declared that the speed of light IS NOT CONSTANT.
    Let’s wrap our brains around that. THE. SPEED. OF. LIGHT. IS. NOT. CONSTANT.

    If this is true, our whole understanding of the Universe will have to change: Distances between heavenly objects will have to be recalculated. Our entire knowledge base will have to accommodate itself to the New Knowledge; This may take over 100 years!

    St. Thomas Aquinas wrote that each and every body in the cosmos has its own guardian angel. Think of it: There are enough stars alone in the Universe to give every single human being who ever lived over 60 septillion stars!!! That’s 110 BILLION multiplied by 60 SEPTILLION!!! (1 followed by 25 zeroes,I think). So there must be at least that many guardian angels!!! And they never get bored!!!
    Thomas Edison said, “We do not know one one-millionth of one percent about anything.” And fools think they can beat God!!!

    • Much of the basis for the leftists demands for “empirical proof” are belied by their own falsities, which have remained hidden from the public until the internet has offered more proofs. It is the same for their arguments demeaning creationism.

      “IN REAL LIFE, John Scopes was not a biology teacher, nor did he grow up in Dayton, Tennessee. Scopes taught math and coached football, but had briefly substituted for the regular biology teacher during an illness. He was recruited by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) to challenge Tennessee’s Butler Act. Evidently, he never even taught evolution or Darwin.L. Sprague de Camp’s The Great Monkey Trial relates the following conversation between Scopes and reporter William K. Hutchinson of the International News Service:

      “There is something I must tell you. It’s worried me. I didn’t violate the law.”

      “A jury has said you had,” replied Hutchinson.

      “Yes, but I never taught that evolution lesson. I skipped it. [continues].”
