California bans state-funded travel to Oklahoma due to its adoption policy

California is soooooo concerned about this discrimination that they will allow the UCLA basketball team, part of the University of California system, to play a game in Oklahoma this September. Hypocrites.

As a resident of Oklahoma, I can tell you this policy causes me ZERO distress.

From WFTV ABC: California will restrict state-funded and sponsored travel to Oklahoma in response to a controversial adoption bill signed by Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin last month.

A news release from the office of California Attorney General Xavier Becerra states the restriction will go into effect June 22. A California law passed in 2017 “prohibits state-funded and state-sponsored travel to states with laws that authorize or require discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.”

Oklahoma Senate Bill 1140 allows adoption agencies not to participate in the placement of a child that would “violate the agency’s written religious or moral convictions or policies.”

“California law requires that my office identify and maintain a list of states which are off-limits for state-funded or state-sponsored travel,” said Becerra. “California will not use state resources to support states that pass discriminatory laws. The law enacted in Oklahoma allows discrimination against LGBTQ children and aspiring LGBTQ parents who must navigate the adoption process. California taxpayers are taking a stand against bigotry and in support of those who would be harmed by this prejudiced policy.

According to Becerra’s office, the restriction on travel applies to “California state agencies, departments, boards, authorities and commissions, including an agency, department, board, authority, or commission of the University of California, the Board of Regents of the University of California, and the California State University.”

Other states on the list include Alabama, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee and Texas.

It is time to set Brown/Becerra back on their heels, i.e., arrest them for the violation of human rights and depriving the CA people of their Constitutional rights to travel any where. The money is taxpayer money and has to be treated as such. They can’t pick and choose what laws people are tol obey. They are the criminals who are obstructing justice by protecting illegal aliens who have broken the law by illegally entering this country.

Why aren’t some of these State Congressmen puttin their heads together and call it what it is?

  4. Good for Oklahoma! How bout the discrimination of robbing a child of a mother AND a father?

    • Lana . . . . Not many of us sane people care about this particular kind of craziness on the part of California. Just look at the news, “the two mothers” who collected a whole gaggle of various hued children–only to have one of the mother’s decide to drive off a cliff . . . killing all the children placed in their control. If we look at the statistics relative to particularly, lesbian couples, we find the abysmal facts that these children are far more likely to live in abject poverty than other adopted children. One must ask themselves, are these instances due to the parent’s suffering from mental illness, which in the first place lead them to see a same sex partner? I would say that Oklahoma is doing an excellent job of allowing those institutions that oversee adoptions, and who abide by religious, and moral standards to conduct their agency within the guidelines that they feel are correct. I would say that woman who wish to give up their babies/children for adoption should seek out agencies within the states that allow discrimination when placing these little people. Otherwise, there is no assuredly when going into placing your child for adoption that the results for the child will have an even chance of succeeding. There are no assurances even then.

  13. I am glad to see North Carolina is on their no go list. We have enough freaks here already. We sure do not need Californians adding to our freak rolls. It would be nice if our freaks moved to California. It reminds me of all those liars who said they would move to Canada if Trump won. We are still waiting for them to keep their promises.

  14. Whew! Oklahoma dodged a bullet this time! Pretty sure that now the other 49 states know that Nazi-Mexi-fornia is not allowing its businesses or citizens to do business/train for business in Oklahoma, etc……they will sign on in DROVES to send their governments/businesses to the SOONER STATE and they will be able to put into practice their trainings there SOONER than anyone the (tarnished) “Golden State.” Legacies last for lifetimes!

  15. At least there will be one less type of “pest” to contend with. I still say it’s time to lock ’em up and take away their money.
