Buy a Pelican cooler, $10 will be donated to NRA

This is American capitalism.

In the wake of YETI refusing to sell its coolers to the National Rifle Association (NRA), Pelican Coolers has this great promotion offer:

For every Pelican Cooler that you buy, they’re donate $10 to the NRA!

On top of that, you’ll also get a free 22 oz. tumbler of your choice.

Just use the Promo Code: PELICANPROUD

To order, go here.

By the way, YETI claims to have been misunderstood. They say they were merely getting rid of an old discounting program and replacing it with another option. Here’s YETI’s statement:

A few weeks ago, YETI notified the NRA Foundation, as well as a number of other organizations, that we were eliminating a group of outdated discounting programs. When we notified the NRA Foundation and the other organizations of this change, YETI explained that we were offering them an alternative customization program broadly available to consumers and organizations, including the NRA Foundation. These facts directly contradict the inaccurate statement the NRA-ILA distributed on April 20.

Further, the NRA-ILA stated in that same public communication that “{YETI has] declined to continue helping America’s young people enjoy outdoor recreational activities.” Nothing is further from the truth. YETI was founded more than 10 years ago with a passion for the outdoors, and over the course of our history we have actively and enthusiastically supported hunters, anglers and the broader outdoor community. We have been devoted to and will continue to directly support causes tied to our passion for the outdoors, including by working with many organizations that promote conservation and management of wildlife resources and habitat restoration. From our website to our film footage and from our social media posts to our ambassadors, YETI has always prominently featured hunters pursuing their passions. Moreover, YETI is unwavering in our belief in and commitment to the Constitution of the United States and its Second Amendment.

  1. Sounds like back-peddling to me…. While I have never even pretended to want one, I would never afford one..

  3. I am sure that many a business, after seeing the overwhelming support by American’s voting with their dollars–both in joining the NRA, and donating to the NRA never expected the brouhaha they got served. Thinking back to what was presented only within the last couple of weeks regarding this matter . . . I do not remember that YETI explained their change as being “an alternate customization program.” For heck sakes, I’m not even sure what that is!

  4. This is a little off topic, but the subject of the NRA reminded me. Has anyone else heard about another deputy from Broward Sheriff’s department dying?

    • That’s the first I’ve heard of this one. The comments are great. Naturally, they didn’t say what killed him. If you ask me there is something “different” with the last three. The way they’re being treated is different.

I think they’re getting us used to the idea that you only get what information they decide to give. There were quite a few disappearances and deaths in SHES too. It’s also funny that no one seems to be looking into these player’s finances.

I suppose The Odor is still into conditioning us to think there are crazy, lone nut shooters everywhere. Once the foreign replacements get here that will be a reality.

  5. Yeti coolers, I’ve seen them….thought I would be paying too much for something I really didn’t need…..Very much like buying into liberalism.

  6. I see a severe case of back-tracking going on here . Got to admit though , their coolers keep ice solid longer than any other .
Yes , they are expensive , but as in life , you get what you pay for .

  8. Well reading the Yeti response, my bullshit-a-meter went off. Oh so your’e offering this special discount programs and pulling the one you had in place, just happened to be the same time all the other business’s were pulling their support. Yeah, right.

  9. Reblogged this on On the Patio and commented:

Welcome to American Business 101! When one vendor bails for whatever reason another is more than ready to step right in and fill the void. Well done Pelican.

  12. I know that Yeti screwed the pooch big time. But at least they were smart enough to realize it and are trying to make it better. If we get a flood of companies running back to the NRA, just before the mid terms, it will make a very loud statement. The NRA is not that big, but it does have a very big voice. I had quit quite some time ago, over the usual issues. I just recently joined the GOA, wanting to at least trying to put some money where my mouth is. Now I am considering going back to the NRA, simply so that they can add my name to their list, bringing their total number higher.
The fight we are in right now is important, and one that we can’t afford to lose. The NRA has the best lobbying group in the capitol to deal with those who are actually involved with the changes that could make a difference. And it is in those committees where the actual minutia of laws are written. So the more lobbyist we can have on our side fight for us, the better.

Most of all, stay informed, not on the television. Talk to people, look to websites that tend to give accurate information every single day. If something looks like B.S., treat it as such, until you can confirm that it is the truth. Remember that politicians rarely say stupid things in public, they know what they want to say, and seldom from script, so that is why if it so newsworthy when they leave script and speak off the cuff.

  13. Regardless of which version you believe, I think its safe to say that the timing is suspicious. Everyone on the left is going “Hogg-wild” and suddenly they are writing the NRA about their deal? Why would they have done that?

Whatever the the real story is, a deal is a deal. It has terms and conditions and lasts for an agreed upon time. It looks to me that, regardless of what YETI says now, they wanted out of their deal with the NRA. Why would they have issued a statement unless this were so?
