Boo hoo: Charlize Theron got depressed after gaining 50 pounds for new movie

Spare me the complaints about your high-paying job. Millions of women face the realities of weight gain every day and don’t get paid HANDSOMELY to do so.

Charlize has earned up to $10 MILLION for movie roles and her net worth is $130 MILLION. I’m sure she can afford a personal trainer to help her lose the weight.

By the way, why is she still living in our RACIST country that made her a millionaire?

From Daily Mail: Charlize Theron plays an overweight and overwhelmed mother in her new film Tully which hits theaters next month.

And after gaining a whopping 50 pounds for the role, Charlize Theron has revealed she was left feeling depressed after embarking on a fatty diet and new lifestyle which saw her gorging on mac and cheese at 2am.

‘I wanted to feel what this woman felt, and I think that was a way for me to get closer to her and get into that mindset,’ the 42-year-old star told Entertainment Tonight.

‘You know, it was a huge surprise to me. I got hit in the face pretty hard with depression. Yeah, for the first time in my life I was eating so much processed foods and I drank way too much sugar. I was not that fun to be around on this film.’

Charlize said she had to eat around the clock to keep the weight on and would even eat In-N-Out burgers and milkshakes for breakfast.

‘The first three weeks are always fun because you’re just like a kid in a candy store. And then after three weeks, it’s not fun anymore. Like, all of a sudden you’re just done eating that amount and then it becomes a job.

The actress explained that she’d have food ready by her bed for midnight snacks, including a cup of cold macaroni and cheese. ‘I remember having to set my alarm in the middle of the night in order to just maintain [the weight].’ she revealed.

‘I would wake up and I would just eat it … I would just, like, shove it in my throat. It’s hard to maintain that weight.

The Oscar-winning star, who is mom to Jackson, six, and August, two, revealed her weight gain confused her kids as they both thought she was pregnant at one point, with her youngest ‘convinced that I had a baby in my belly,’.

As for when it came time to shed the weight, Charlize admitted it took a year and a half and was ‘hell’.

‘I was worried. I was like, this is taking a really long time,’ she said. ‘Because on Monster, I just didn’t snack for five days and I was fine. You know your body at 27 is a little different than your body at 43, and my doctor made sure to make me very aware of that. Like, you are 42, calm down, you’re not dying, all good.’

In Tully Charlize plays Marlo, a mother of three including a newborn, who is gifted a night nanny by her brother.  Hesitant to the extravagance at first, Marlo comes to form a unique bond with the thoughtful, surprising, and sometimes challenging young nanny named Tully.

Tully, directed by Jason Reitman, hits movie theaters May 4.

  1. She’s angling for another Academy Award. Beautiful actresses get awards when they “slum” it in movies by looking homely or, in this case, fat.

  3. I do not pay attention to her politics, but she is my favorite Afrikan American.

  4. I always thought she was really good looking, on the outside. That said, I can’t imagine cohabiting with her, instead of sitting here smoking a cigar and drinking coffee with my dog, she’d have me hand washing her delicates and making her a freaking coffee…no thanks, plus, I don’t think she’d live in a mobile home.

  5. For her next movie she’s going to move into a mobile home to better understand her character and then complain how hard it was to move back into her mansion.

  6. I’ll say it again, there is no amount of money that would make me gain weight like that. 🐖🐖🐖

    • Maryaha . . . . I think it is the height of idiocy to deliberately gain that kind of weight. This is not the first time she has gained weight deliberately, there was some movie she put out about a woman serial killer that she also gained weight for.

I think this is a horrible thing to do to any body. I feel the same about these actors who lose incredible amounts of weighty (including lean body tissue) in order to play “edgy” parts. I believe that it poses a risk to one’s health.

    • Maryaha, My wish for her is that the 50 pounds of grease get stuck on her and no matter how much she tries she won’t be able to shed an ounce.

  7. So out of touch with reality.
I read a bunch of comments on other sites and people who have encountered her in real life say she’s the worst celebrity they’ve met; rude, entitled, and treats people like crap including not allowing resort staff to look her in the eye!
    Also, that movie sounds terrible.

I’m a little confused; first she said claims it was hard to maintain the weight, then, she is worried cause it took a year and a half to lose it.

All that extra weight makes pulling off the illusion much more difficult.

  12. I am reminded of a movie, or perhaps a play, from years ago, with I believe Sir John Gielgud, and Bill Bixby Bill Bixby was starving himself, and sleeping on concrete, all the usual Hollywierd stuff to ” live” the roll. Sir Gielgud remarked, ” Wouldn’t it be easier to just act?”

  13. Well, when she bolts with her children for South Africa, she won’t have to worry about gaining weight.
