France’s Marine Le Pen charged for tweeting pictures of ISIS killings

Le Pen facing charges: The left working to silence dissenting opinions in France, too.

From The Guardian: Marine Le Pen, the leader of France’s far-right Front National, has been charged over photographs she tweeted showing gruesome images of purported atrocities by Islamic State.

The move by a judge in Nanterre on Thursday came after the national assembly voted in November to strip Le Pen of her parliamentary immunity over the three photos posted in 2015.

Le Pen, who lost to Emmanuel Macron in last year’s presidential vote, is facing charges of circulating “violent messages that incite terrorism or pornography or seriously harm human dignity”, and that can be viewed by a minor. The crime is punishable by up to three years in prison and a fine of €75,000 (£66,000).

The pictures were posted a few weeks after the Paris terror attacks in November 2015, in which 130 people were killed.

One of the images showed the body of James Foley, an American journalist beheaded by Isis extremists. The others showed a man in an orange jumpsuit being driven over by a tank and another man being burned alive in a cage.

“Daesh is this!” Le Pen wrote in a caption, using an Arabic acronym for Isis, in response to a TV journalist drawing a comparison between the extremists and the French far right.

Le Pen later deleted the picture of Foley after a request from his family, saying she had been unaware of his identity. “I am being charged for having condemned the horrors of Daesh,” Le Pen told the news agency AFP. “In other countries this would have earned me a medal.”

In September, parliament lifted the immunity of another Front National MP, Gilbert Collard, over similar tweets containing Isis images.

  4. Censor what you don’t want people to know about you. Oh wait, if you want to censor it, that tells me what I need to know about you.

Let’s drag out all of the horror for all the world to see. After everybody get a stomach full of it maybe then people will see it’s not the government that’s the problem. It’s the people that take over the government.

    • . . . and the people who vote for them.

      • Dr Eowyn . . . . You have really named what the real problem is . . . uninformed voters wishing to bring in socialists/communists in the hopes that they will personally benefit by voting these left leaning folks into power. It is the like the old adage of “boiling a frog . . you place the frog in nice warm water, then you turn up the heat, little by little–until the frog is boiled, and dead. It works the same way when governments start censuring some people, and take their voice away. This is the most dangerous of situations. How horrible that far to many of the French just don’t know what they are voting to install . . . . perhaps, they will when it becomes to late.

    • YouKnowWho . . . . You deserve a gold star . . . “Censor what you don’t want people to know about you. Oh wait, if you want to censor it, that tells me what I need to know about you.”

You also really hit it out of the ball park when you wrote: “…it’s not the government that’s the problem. It’s the people that take over the government.” That has been correct all down thru time, and it certainly does apply to today’s goings’ on.

I am dismayed that the government of France is coming down on their people in this manner. I would think they are well on their way to becoming a mini communist regime.

  5. France is so perverted they deserve to be overrun by Muslim devil worshipers.

I am not a Calvinist, but John Calvin did say something very true:

“When God wants to judge a nation, He gives them wicked rulers.” (Amen. The United States had Barack Obama for 8 humiliating years.)

    • Tim . . . . That was an excellent addition to this discussion. Thank you. Just look at the mess our country is after eight years of Obama? That certainly proves the scripture you brought to us.

  7. I can’t look around and conclude anything other than that the communists are winning, at least at this juncture. Of course they can’t “win” our hearts and minds. They ARE, however, causing worldwide pain and suffering.

I like Le Pen. If you followed their last election you know it was rigged. Macron is not well liked. Le Pen seems genuine. Tel Aviv is in charge. If this isn’t stopped we will soon find ourselves under their thumbs and watching our world turn into a sickly pasture.

    • lophatt . . . I agree, much of the pain and suffering that is going on today is because Communist Regimes are in power, and the people in those areas suffer untold agony. The saddest of all sad stories is that among many our own young people–then think a Socialist/Communist government is certainly the way to go. Rather than rely on a Capitalist society, where all are given a change to use their wit and ways to earn for themselves what it is that they desire.

  8. Ms. LePen, come to the U.S. We could use more people like you who are willing to stand up for our rights. I am sorry you were cheated out of your election. Have the people of France yet realized what happened?

  10. Beware also of politicians in the US advocating for an “honest” internet. Democratic lawmakers with help from establishment Republicans want increased Internet regulation. Their justification is Russian interference.

Their proposals would have had little impact on the Russians, but would clearly impact free speech in America.

    • Glenn47 . . . . Since as you say . . . “She was just exposing to the people who and what is attacking her country . . ” it almost seems incredulous that the powers that be would be brave enough to being her up on charges. I guess this is how the powerful “cull the herd of opponents.”
