Pedogate: Catholic Archbishop Robert Carlson said he’s not sure it’s a crime for priest to have sex with a child

“But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.” –Matthew 18:6

It’s bad enough that some Catholic priests are pedophiles/pederasts. It’s downright unconscionable for the Church to protect and shield the priests who had committed crimes from the judicial system.

As an example, one of the highest-ranking church officials to be accused of sexually abusing children during the Catholic Church’s widespread and costly sexual abuse scandal was Archbishop Jozef Wesolowski, who was the Vatican’s papal nuncio or ambassador in Santo Domingo. In 2013 Santo Domingo police found more than 100,000 child porn videos and photos on Wesolowski’s office computer at the Holy See diplomatic compound in the Dominican Republic. Wesolowski was also accused of raping numerous children in the Dominican Republic and Poland.

But Vatican officials secretly removed Wesolowski from his post in Santo Domingo so as to avoid criminal prosecution. It was only when reports began to circulate that the accused child rapist was free to wander the streets of Rome, which resulted in popular outrage, that the Vatican placed Weslowski under house arrest in September 2014.

Scheduled for July 11, 2015, his trial was postponed because of an “unexpected illness”. On August 27, 2015, Wesołowski was found dead in his residence from a heart attack. (See “Pope Francis’ Vatican: a cesspool of pedophiles and homosexuals“)

Here’s another example of the Catholic Church protecting criminals.

On May 23, 2014, Archbishop of St. Louis Robert Carlson was deposed as part of a civil lawsuit by a man, Doe 1, who had been sexually abused as a child by former priest Thomas Adamson at St. Thomas Aquinas parish in St. Paul Park, Minnesota. As Chancellor and Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, Carlson had handled the archdiocese’s child sex abuse cases from 1979-1994. Then-Bishop Carlson met with Thomas Adamson in 1980 about another incident of alleged child sexual abuse, in which Adamson admitted to sexually abusing the boy, yet no report was made to law enforcement.

In his deposition, Archbishop Carlson was asked if he knew it was a crime for an adult to engage in sex with a child. Incredibly, the archbishop answered:

“Um, I’m not sure whether I knew it was a crime or not. I understand today that it’s a crime.”

When asked at what point in time he knew it was a crime for an adult or a priest to engage in sex with a child, the archbishop said, “I don’t remember”. Altogether, Archbishop Carlson responded to questions with “I don’t remember” a whopping 193 different times during the 3½-hour deposition.

  1. I truly hope, that all of mankind will come to realize that they do not need a middle man to get to God. That is a fraudulent theory. Everything is, I and I (you and God).

Second, you can call yourself anything, but you will be judged by what you’ve thought, which for many contradicts what they say, done while, “alone,” and by what you’ve allowed. God sees and knows all.

    Sorry. This fired me up.

  2. Upon first read, it would seem that Carlson is being very, very fatuous. But ever since Paul VI came on the scene to destroy the Church, anything is possible.
But here’s a question for Carlson: Aren’t you aware that the priestly vow of CELIBACY still maintains, regardless of the fact that the “inmates are running the aslyum?”

I see the fudging and hedging here: It’s about the money—how can any bishop run a diocese if all the funds dry up? Be that as it may, when the decision was made to allow gay men to become priests, the very seminaries themselves became cesspools (many of them, at least).

As Catholics, we have to DOUBLE DOWN: No American renounces his citizenship because we’ve had a criminal president, or that some bad people happen to be Americans. We cannot leave the Church because of the Trouble she has been in now: We need the Mass and the Sacraments more than ever. After all, the Apostles didn’t quit just because one of them betrayed Christ and later hanged himself.
So it is with us. And we must remember that Our Lord Promised that the Gates of Hell would NOT “prevail against” His Church. Has He gone back on His Word yet? Don’t be silly!

The Church will even survive Frankenpope. How, I don’t know. But Jesus Christ and His Blessed Mother know.

    The Great Tribulation is coming.

    • I am not about to receive sacraments from pedophiles. And I’m expected to confess my sins to THEM? I don’t think so!

      • I agree, and I seek out those priests who are elderly—a few of them still remain, at least for now. This is no guarantee, I admit, but the bottom line is this: As long as WE act in good faith, WE are in the clear.
But I do get your point.
One last item: I saw a man who was supposed to be a priest, enter a confessional in a Manhattan church, in his street or “civilian” clothes. I decided NOT to go to Confession to him: Could impostor priests be next???

      • MyBrainsHurt . . . . This is the very saddest of situations. Anyone who realizes that they need to confess their sin to an authority, in order to start the process of forgiveness . . . . must shudder if they in any degree feel that the priest or leader that they must confess to is himself guilty of perhaps far greater sins. To a reasonable person, you would just think that the person in charge would feel altogether far too much sin, to mascaraed as one who is able to hear confessions. What a sad situation indeed!

  4. The Vatican II “Catholic Church” is demonic. The False Prophet is going to be from it, worshiping the Antichrist, the Beast and its image while leading the world to do the same. The evil in this “church” is at an insane level of depravity. These sneaky psychopathic clergy are so cold and calculating that nothing they say or do can ever be trusted. Satan’s Mafia. All Vatican II believing Catholics should look into Tradcatknight, TrueRestoration and Novusordowatch so that they will know where the True Catholic Church really is.

  5. The true Catholic Church is not the Vatican II “Church”. The False Prophet will be from the Vat. II “Church”. Novusordowatch and Tradcatknight can help Catholics who are waking up to how Satanic the “Church” is. What’s being reported is just the tip of the iceberg. Please, Catholics, get out of the Vatican II “Church”. SedavacantismTraditionalism is where the Magisterium is being preserved and obeyed. The entire Vatican II “Church”, including the conservatives, is only leading to THE Antichrist’s religion/spirituality. It is going to get so much worse!

  6. I didn’t watch the video. What caught my eye was that number of 100,000+ child porn videos and photos found on that old man’s personal computer in Santo Domingo, which is so many as to immediately cast doubt on the evidence and suggest it was planted there by a state-sponsored black op. The evidence would have had to have been on his most recent computer, not more than a five years old, you’d think, and unless the office’s computer tech was a confederate, would have been known. As it is, this busy old man would have had to have been making thousands of downloads a month, as well as being glued to reruns, or there’d been no need to save, all of which seems incomprehensible.

The other problem, of false accusations of molestation and rape, was so rampant that it became the subject of a bestseller in the psychology literature, Elizabeth Loftus’s Myth of Repressed Memory: False Memories and Allegations of Sexual Abuse. The abuse stories kids were testifying to stagger belief and yet juries convicted and destroyed the lives of innocent men and women with a vengeance, reflecting not belief beyond a reasonable doubt in the guilt of the accused, but those everyday jurists’ despicable virtue signaling and betrayal of duty to avoid being tainted by the same filthy brush.

I trust no one will accuse me of excusing sexual criminals or playing down this ongoing scandal, but accusations made by one or a few mental patients presenting as mental patients and not as rape victims, who after prolonged and highly suggestive “therapy” at the hands of Catholic-hating psychologists remember abuse from decades before, deserve especially close scrutiny.

  7. Outrageous, I’m so angry, please pardon my fury but I wish they could all be hung by their b*lls. Perversion at the highest level, they vow celibacy but THEY ARE MEN WITH MALE FEELINGS PREYING ON THE DEFENCELESS AND THE INNOCENT.

  8. The Archbishop’s memory is so poor that one wonders how he runs his archdiocese. It would be good if he resigned, given his poor memory.

  12. It is extremely puzzling to watch the Archbishop. He just does not seem to really be with the here and now. This question defies logic . . . how could an adult person truly not know that having sex with a child is anything other than a sin?

  13. As can be found in all levels of “isms” from religion to government to even lower levels of “belonging” groups…….absolute power corrupts absolutely…This particular situation is so sad and mournful for all of us, even non-Catholics….because we all, at some point, give our trust over to our religious leaders, our governmental leaders, our local affiliations (our Girl Scout or Boy Scout groups….our civic groups…..the library supporters, the March of Dimes…WHATEVER)….All of these organizations and anything remotely similar, are open to fraud and for using others in an untoward way. However, when it involves sexual exploitation of our children and our neighbors’ children, whom we are instructing toward a higher spiritual level and higher trust in their religious elders…..it is so gut-wrenching as to take our breathes away—-to make us dissolve in our anger and fears and guilt at having led our innocent children into this situation, with our OWN trust and responsibility violated at the same time. It is a crime not only against these children, but against the parents and communities who nurture our youths, who help young parents carry forward our religioius and national values….

Having grown up in Pennsylvania with my Quaker and Mennonite and Brethren (and some ancestral Amish) relatives….at least on ONE side…the side of the family with whom I most lived/identified….I agree with Cara and my basic religious upbringing: when there is NO ONE between YOU and God….when there is JUST YOU AND GOD talking to each other…..no intermediary, no one to interpret “the right way” for you…..that you must “take” as “gospel” b/c it came from the mouth of God’s servant who is your intermediary between you and God…..there is far less chance of these things happening….BUT——there is NO IMMUNITY to it anywhere, EVEN in this way, sadly. It can happen in un-numbered situations where people place trust in others.

  14. Carlson is possibly possessed by an evil entity or demented or both. Neither he nor the Pope or any recalcitrant prelate or priest is THE Church, but such renegades are handy tools for the critics to utilize the ‘specific’ to make their ‘general’ case, [which is not what this post is doing, for I myself often expose individual abuses].

Many of Carlson’s ilk are, or may be, the product of a deliberate infiltration of the Church by Communism from the 1930’s onwards. By the 1960’s their evil fruit began to flower among those who had been recruited and who had in turn recruited others to the extent that a lavender mafia is rife, and extends to the highest levels. It must be pointed out that the overwhelming majority of abuse cases are not of pedophiles, but pedarists – which implies that the infiltration and the problem is homosexual related. The proof of this comes from two sources: firstly from the KGB defector, Yuri Bezmenov [videos available on YouTube], and secondly from ex communist agent, Bella Dodd, who personally recruited 1100 young communist men for seminaries to spread immorality through the Church [the march through the institutions]. And again many videos of her testimony are available.

As the Church hierarchy takes on the task of clearing out these evil predators it is hamstrung by its own misdirected ‘charity’ towards offenders and those at the top with unknown allegiances. Still, the Church instituted by Christ Himself, will not be defeated as He promised. The Conspiracy against the Body Of Christ can be researched in the video links to the abovementioned, or from Fr. John O’Connor in particular. Here is a more recent historical look for those wanting to follow the issue …….

      Thank you, John.

Instead of denial and looking the other way, it is the responsibility of lay Catholics, who are the Body of Christ, to point out and hold errant clerics like Archbishop Carlson accountable.

  15. Well, if an Archbishop doesn’t know it is wrong, who does? Who do members go to for leadership? Growing up I heard nothing of all this crime in the church. My only connection to the Catholic Church was one in the next town 6 miles away. It was held in the highest esteem as well as some of the children that attended my school. This truly breaks my heart as I had the church up on a pedestal.

I’m not Catholic, but anyone that thinks sex with a child is not a ‘crime’ shouldn’t be anywhere near a position of authority in ANY Christian church – I don’t care if it’s a Catholic church or the Methodist church on the nearest corner across the street from a brothel.

    • I AM Catholic and I don’t recall ever saying otherwise. People read too many Jack Chick comics. Catholics are not the only Christians with this problem. All of us are sinners and those who think otherwise are severely misinformed.

The Church does not “approve” of this nor do we “teach” it, and, as The Church making apologies to those out of communion with her is not appropriate. We don’t throw the baby out with the bath water.

The enemies of the Church are more focused on Catholics because we’re the source. I will never make apologies for my faith. I was raised to be Protestant but I got over it. I wish the others would as well.

  19. I’m not RC but of course all priests are not pedos. That’s what the press wants us to believe in order to destroy our trust in our religious leaders and our religion as well. Pedos tend to ‘hide’ wherever it is easiest for them to use their position to their advantage. Teacher, Scout Leader, Priest, Pastor, Sports Coach, anywhere young adults or children can be corrupted with fast access. The institution is only culpable when it covers up or attempts to impede. The penalty should be severe to send a loud and clear message: we as a moral people do not tolerate this behavior at all. If not the death penalty then life in prison, not merely as punishment but to keep these predators out of our midst!
