SCOTTeVEST founder says company markets to Fox viewers because they’re “f***ing idiots”

From Washington Times: SCOTTeVEST founder Scott Jordan was rebuked by his own clothing company after he posted on Facebook last weekend that Fox News viewers are “f–ing idiots.”

Mr. Jordan co-founded SCOTTeVEST with his wife in 2000, selling a line of multi-pocketed “eVests” designed for consumers to carry multiple gadgets. He failed to clinch a deal on ABC’s Shark Tank with his “Technology Enabled Clothing” (TEC) patent in 2012, The Blaze reported.

Mr. Jordan, who stepped down from the company’s management last year but still holds the title of chief executive officer, was disavowed by the company on Wednesday after he publicly described an encounter with someone who recognized him from his SCOTTeVEST television commercials.

“I love meeting new people that recognize me and my company from all of our television commercials,” he wrote Jan. 14 in the now-deleted post, according to a screenshot captured by a “Shark Tank” fan blog. “I am on the ski lift and the following exchange just happened and happens often: I ask, ‘What network they saw me?’ Invariably people say Fox News.

“I laugh to myself, and tell them that we primarily advertise on Fox because we find their viewership to be extremely gullible and much easier to sell than other networks,” he wrote. “The look on their face at that time is priceless. I am not kidding you. I get to tell them they are [f–ing] idiots while getting rich off them.”

SCOTTeVEST posted a statement on its website calling Mr. Jordan’s comments “offensive and inexcusable.”

We are extremely sorry for his unacceptable comments,” the company said. “Mr. Jordan’s post was impulsive and inappropriate for too many reasons to list, and rightfully offended so many people. We strongly disagree with the views expressed by Mr. Jordan.”

Company spokesman Luke Lappala told The Blaze in an email that Mr. Jordan had since deactivated his Facebook and Twitter accounts. “We are sickened by his remarks,” Mr. Lappala said.

Mr. Jordan apologized in a Medium post Friday, calling his words “incredibly rude and inaccurate.”

“To those that I called gullible and idiotic, I am truly sorry,” he wrote. “As the founder of SCOTTeVEST, Inc., I have spent more than 17 years with the help of an amazing team building an awesome company with world class products and customer service. My idiotic statement not only jeopardized all of that hard work, but it also compromised the faith that SCOTTeVEST customers and our team of 20+ employees and contractors entrusted in me.

“I also want to apologize to the SCOTTeVEST customer service team, who are taking the brunt of the backlash for my actions,” he added. “SCOTTeVEST employees are good people that do not deserve to be punished for my actions. I will continue to learn from my mistakes and strive to become a better person.

Mr. Lappala explained to The Blaze that Mr. Jordan stepped down from his management responsibilities last year due to “personal reasons” but remains as “CEO in name only.”

Mr. Jordan retains his CEO and Co-Founder titles, but he is not involved in our daily operations,” Mr. Lappala said.

  1. email with your complaint, and Luke Lapella will send you a “sincere apology” /sarc.

Then read their reviews. People have said the products are junk.

    When will these idiots learn?

  2. Every time I have seen his commercial, my thoughts go to the question, “How could anyone with self respect wear such a geek uniform a one of these vests?”

    • Who’d wear one of these thing? Check out photos of Mister You Scott Jordan, himself. I was shocked this bouffant “outdoorsman” got a patent since Goretex mountaining jackets have had all sorts of inside pockets for ages and all he did was copy the idea for latte, four flushing apres ski nerds like himself.

    • I think you answered your own question. What “self-respect” (or taste).

  3. I doubt if it’s Fox viewers that are buying his geek suits. Nonetheless, people should write to Fox. They should get five friends to do likewise. If somebody has one of these they should write on it and send it to Fox.

  6. What a moroon!
The “apology” is useless. Intelligent folks will flee his business like the Plague, whether they came from Fox or elsewhere…

  7. Always a laugh to see someone claim that others are stupid while demonstrating their own immense stupidity. You can’t make this stuff up!

  8. For casual indoors/outdoors wear, if you can’t get it at L.L. Bean or Sportsman’s Guide Gear, you don’t need it.

  9. I never heard of him or saw his vest but it is not something I would buy. This guy is a first class idiot. I hope everyone who bought one returns it for a refund. His apology is bull. He is NOT sorry at all.

  10. We’ll always have our critics, those people who truly hate us. Only it’s gone corporate—as has everything by now. This began with Starbucks CEO telling a reporter he didn’t want pro-marriage or conservative people coming to Starbucks, and with Mark Zuckerberg, who called Facebook users “dumb f*ckers.”
    What is going on?
The snakes are bearing their fangs here. We can boycott these companies. (I do but still use FB). But there’s something else going on. And that is the loss of civility in American Life: Certain sentiments never used to have the microphone, and it was for the purpose of serving the civility of the public forum. Thanks to Zuckerberg, Starbucks and now Scott Jordan, that is gone—at least for now.

This is the difference between Donald Trump and the Left: Trump can and will insult someone publicly, but he does so in order to troll them. It’s as if to say, “Oh, so you’re going to leave me holding the bag, are you? Well, I’ll leave YOU holding the bag.” In a word of challenge and fear, Trump plays that game, but he does so while still respecting at least the veneer of civility. The Left DOES NOT, and ultimately, it leads to ANTIFA.
The Left has a certain and real MORAL VICIOUSNESS and would, if at all possible, have us all killing each other in the streets! T.S. Eliot and William Butler Yeats warned us about this.
And it seems to me that, as the Left is without God (and that sin is our default position as fallen beings) because it has a certain moribund and venomous self-consciousness. It is this inability to live with oneself without hatred, without rancor, with the proper self-understanding a mentally stable person should have that makes the Left lash out at the other side. Make no mistake: This is all about good vs. evil. And Jordan is but the latest casualty of this uncivil virus of evil. This is precisely why Jordan, et al., are truly evil, and their remarks are truly evil. This evil is precisely ABSENT in Donald Trump’s “shithole” comment, for this attributed comment—made out of whole cloth by Illinois Sen. Dick Durban (three other Senators present at the scene insisted Mr. Trump did not use that word)—was a factual judgment that even persons from those countries would and have agreed with.
But this is the Left for you. And they obey Goebbels’ dictum: “Accuse the other side of that which you are guilty!”
Clearly, the demons have been riled and they are stirring.

  11. Sounds like this comment / thought isn’t just a one-time thing, but a constant attitude; he says “it happens often.” What a sad attitude of disrespect for people who buy his product, & contribute to paying his bills by their purchases. Not someone i want to support by buying his stuff.

  14. When someone makes an unkind comment to or about another,he speaks his first thought, which is the truth. An apology is totally worthless, because it merely acknowledges that he realizes he said something hurtful to others-it doesn’t change what he thought and said. He can only hope the person he wronged will be a better person than he,and let it roll off his or her back.

  16. He still owns the company.

So he’s unofficially working from home until this blows over. Total fake “apology”

Anyone with cheap fabric scraps and an old sewing machine can duplicate what their $100 vests do (costing $5 from China I’ll bet) in 10 minutes.

  17. If he thinks people believe his “apology” then HE is the idiot. He only said that because he’s envisioning all those dollar signs swirling down the crapper for him, hee hee!

  18. I truly believe Scott is sorry, for hurting his sales. He called his statements “humor,” but anyone familiar with his political bent knows that’s how he really feels. While he might temper his online activity for the time being, you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. What he did probably hurt his brand, whether it’s a permanent injury or just a blip remains to be seen, but when you publicly insult a group of people, memory is long.

Scott Jordan, meet this bitch: Karma.
