Sanctuary state signs in CA welcome felons, illegal aliens and MS-13

sanctuary sign in ca

Turns out it was a prankster who put up the signs. I thought it was for real, as nothing the proggies in California does anymore surprises me.

From Fox News (as reported by Greg Norman): Drivers entering California are being greeted with signs proclaiming the liberal bastion an “OFFICIAL SANCTUARY STATE,” according to photos and videos circulating on social media appearing to show a prankster attached the official-looking blue signs just below legitimate “Welcome to California” markers.

The sanctuary state sign, which adds “Felons, Illegals and MS13 [gang members] welcome,” is similar to one hung up by a Malibu activist last year.

“Democrats Need The Votes!” reads a message on the signs, which are plastered with the Great Seal of California and a donkey, one of the symbols of the Democratic Party.

California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) spokesman Mark Dinger told Fox News on Tuesday that one of the signs was taken down yesterday on Interstate-15 near the California/Nevada border. A crew has been dispatched today to remove another sign spotted on I-40 near the border with Arizona, he added.

“For safety reasons, Caltrans does not permit any unauthorized signs in the state right of way,” the agency said in a statement. “If we haven’t done so already, Caltrans crews will take steps to remove them.”

California became a “sanctuary state” on Monday after a bill Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law in October officially took effect. The law bars police in the nation’s most populous state from asking people about their immigration status or participating in federal immigration enforcement activities in most cases.

The Golden State is home to an estimated 2.3 million illegal immigrants aliens.

The signs in photos and videos being circulated on social media are similar to one placed in Malibu in April 2017, after it declared itself a sanctuary city.

“Official Sanctuary City ‘Cheap Nannies and Gardeners Make Malibu Great!’ (Boyle Heights Not So Much.)” read the sign on the side of the Pacific Coast Highway, according to FOX5. That sign was reported by a California State Parks employee to authorities but was already taken down by the time deputies arrived to investigate.

“This was not an official city sign,” Malibu Councilwoman Laura Rosenthal had told the Los Angeles Times. “It’s down, and it’s very disheartening that anyone would put up such an ugly sign.”

“Whoever did this spent some time on it,” she added.

I saw this earlier this morning and, cynically, laughed my ass off. If it wasn’t true, and pathetic, it would be funny. It’s not. It’s sad!
I hope the DoJ marches in, arrests Brown-noser and places the state under martial law, arresting any and ALL illegals and the administrators responsible for this insanity.
The time to act is now before this spreads.
As it is, I also heard this morning that Massachusetts is trying to do the same, making it an “unofficial” sanctuary state by allowing cities and towns to balk at the feds.
I’m SO glad I escaped that nuthouse years ago.

No one needs the sign to know any how. Their ‘law’ against upholding the “LAW” is clear enough.

  3. What does the US Constitution say about a state government that violates and refuses to enforce federal government laws (in this case, duly constituted immigration laws)? Didn’t we fight a CIVIL WAR over this?

    • Dr Eowyn . . . You just hit it out of the ball park with that statement of fact! I just do not understand why states would feel they have the right to do whatever in blue blazes they want to. This is such a dangerous precedent for them to set. Yes, this was exactly why the CIVIL WAR was fought. Certain states had decided that they could and were going to do whatever pleased them . . . the Union was in peril of breaking apart. Therefore, the Federal government said “Enough of that!” Is it really any different in these circumstances? I don’t think so.

    • All of the officials pledge their allegiance. In theory, they are representing the people. If their officials break the law they should be removed and jailed. The people can elect replacement. If the replacements either refuse to follow the law or refuse to pledge their allegiance, the state can be ousted.

    • TD . . . . If you notice, the person who did the artwork regarding this sign is pretty darn good! I wonder if that same sign were placed on private property if the owner would be forced to remove it?

Why aren’t these CA politicians and the U.S. politicians being put in JAIL when they are not upholding the Constitution which they swore to uphold?

It is time to have a “round up” of politicians who are breaking the law.

    • kommonsentsjane . . . . Amen to that! Let the “round ups” begin.

    • Yes, Jane, when Maryland, for instance, voted in 1861 to withdraw from the Union over “State’s Rights” and upholding slavery…Lincoln suspended “habeus corpus” (proof) and jailed the state lawmakers & county lawmakers who’d voted so in the interest of preserving the Union of the United States of America. I think we’ve arrived at this point once again in history…where a state or states refuse to follow Federal Law according to the Constiution. Pretty much think there is a pescendent there for a president to jail , for instance, Jerry Brown and his entire state legistalature, who voted against upholding Federal Law.

    • Because the jails wouldn’t be able to fit all the politicians, that’s why. 🙂

  7. Someone should put up a sign in Nevada that says, “Nevada: A Sanctuary State from the Republic of California.”

This hypocrisy is becoming a running joke since it’s obvious the only thing disheartening to Laura and her Malibu friends is having to pay honest wages to the Mexicans washing their laundry, cleaning their filthy toilets, and cutting their lawns. I wonder if Laura and her friends will be traveling to Israel any time soon to protest that country’s legalized racial apartheid.

    • Dan . . . . That is an excellent question! I rather doubt that the Israelis would put up with an outsider meddling in their country.

    • I always chortle (ironically of course) when I think about these pro illegal immigration politicos, who enjoy their double gated communities and don’t have to deal directly with the backlash of throwing open the doors to all the undesirable criminals this sort of legislation attracts.

  13. I’d LOVE to see a National News Anchor,on camera, ask Brown,”Why don’t you post these signs at all the entry points of California? Are you ASHAMED of your decision to become a SANCTUARY State,or do you just prefer to continue your hypocrisy,LIE and DECEIVE the people of the United States?
And How do you plan to provide for your population, both legal and illegal, when you lose ALL your Federal Funding? Are you worried about being arrested and going to Prison? How much of your State Legislature to you expect to lose when the arrests begin?”
WHY don’t the people with access to these chowder-heads ever ask the questions WE want answers to?

    • They should be too winded to answer from being chased through the streets.

    • They (meaning the majority) probably LIKE Brown. I know from talking to people that not everybody does. Until they feel some real, tangible effect of his communism they’ll just dumbly go along.

They cannot continue as is, we all KNOW that. Pretty soon the only people who’ll stay are those on the dole. Who will pay for that?

  15. I think it’s too late-California’s been running at a huge loss for YEARS. You know a State’s in financial trouble when the State Employees’ paychecks start bouncing. (I read a couple of years ago about that happening but can’t recall the particulars.)

    • My wife worked for the State university system. The state ran out of money and paid the workers “vouchers”. There was a big fracas because a lot of banks didn’t honor them and the state itself would not accept their own vouchers for payment of taxes or fees.

      • Sorry-that strikes me a little funny-“It’s like they live in their OWN little make-believe World…” referring to the eggheads in State Government.

        • It struck us as funny too, until the bills came due. When confronted with the hypocrisy of that they didn’t bat an eye. California sucks, that’s all there is to it.

      • Well I think Jerry Brown is reviving the “Comintern”. He probably thinks he can run a closed economy like the USSR. I suppose he can, for a while, so long as he never has to buy anything outside of California.

Trump needs to grab the DoJ by the short hairs and demand that they stop any funds immediately. Screw that Bolshevik judge from La La Land. I used to live in Sacramento and I know the Capitol building has a ramp under it with a big contingent of Federal Marshals. All they have to do is call them up. They can ride the elevator up and not even have to warm up the car, just the paddy wagon.
