From Fox News: A Texas college’s student newspaper is apologizing after coming under fire for running an opinion column called “Your DNA is an abomination” that accuses white people of being oppressors who “shouldn’t exist.”

The apology from Texas State’s University Star came just hours after the column was printed in the paper’s Tuesday edition, sparking a backlash.

“Whiteness will be over because we want it to be,” the article reads, according to a photograph sent to Fox News by multiple viewers. “And when it dies, there will be “millions of cultural zombies aimlessly wandering across a vastly changed landscape.”

In addition to stating “white death will mean liberation for all,” the columnist also says whiteness is “a construct used to perpetuate a system of racist power” and white people are “an aberration.”

“Until then, remember this: I hate you because you shouldn’t exist,” the column adds. “You are both the dominant apparatus on the planet and the void in which all other cultures, upon meeting you, die.”

The column was written by Texas State University senior Rudy Martinez, a philosophy major who said in a past article he was one of the more than 200 people who was arrested on Jan. 20 protesting “the inauguration of proto-fascist Donald Trump.”

The University Star’s Editor-in-Chief, Denise Cervantes, said in a statement issued late Tuesday the column received “widespread criticism from readers.”

“The University Star’s opinion pages are a forum for students to express and debate ideas,” she said. “While our publication does not endorse every opinion put forth by student columnists or guest contributors, as the editor I take responsibility for what is printed on our pages.”

Cervantes said the original intent of the column was to provide a commentary on the idea of race and racial identities.

“We acknowledge that the column could have been clearer in its message and that it has caused hurt within our campus community,” she said. “We apologize and hope that we can move forward to a place of productive dialogue on ways to bring our community together.”

Andrew Homann, a former Texas State student body president and chief of staff at the Texas Federation of College Republicans, was among the leading critics of the column.

“Just when you think the opinion’s columns in the University Star couldn’t get any worse, they publish this masterpiece and exceed my expectations,” he wrote on a Facebook post Tuesday. “No one is going to take this paper seriously if the editorial board continues to allow baseless garbage to be published week in and week out.”

  1. “Rudy Martinez, a philosophy major who said in a past article he was one of the more than 200 people who was arrested on Jan. 20 protesting ‘the inauguration of proto-fascist Donald Trump.'”

Martinez is a racist. That DC police arrested him indicates police have evidence he engaged in violence.

Hey, Martinez, I have good news for you! Trump is prosecuting Antifas like you as “domestic terrorists”. Cheers!

  3. The newspaper has no reason to apologize for the article-this is AMERICA,and they can run whatever stories they see fit,REGARDLESS how STUPID the Author may be. Anybo9dy with a brain would never take it seriously, which,I suppose,is why they apologized. He might do well to look into his OWN heritage-I’d bet HIS DNA isn’t so pure either.

    • I agree, truckjunkie, the newspaper has a right to print whatever it wants….but, it doesn’t mean the paper should print whatever it wants.
It should take responsibility for discretion and judge whether a potential article will exist to simply inflame tensions instead of inform and educate.
I seriously doubt the paper would print an article that would make the same hate-filled statement with blacks involved instead of whites.
The article is stupid and they only apologized because they received backlash.

    • Ditto truck—people can say what they want, and print what they want….like maybe the moon is really made of Swish Cheese but—biologically….we are ALL descendants of Africa, or if proven differently than present day reckoning—-at least ONE central place on Earth, the true cradle of mankind as we know it today. Until anything else might be found to amplify or deny it…..we as mankind/womankind moved out of central Africa—or, if you want to argue…one central place, period… and spread to the far reaches of the Earth because we had to…to survive and thrive, adapting to geography /climate/conditions through thousands of years, which allowed us to differentiate into our reproductive groups, and survive no matter where our nomadic forebearers found themelves through those years. Our differences today from our common forebearer are evidence to our ability to survive…..which we did, to reproduce and populate the Earth. We are all genetically, just plain old HUMAN—our common connection to that first ancestor.

Rudy is a Klansman—-he’s just not a member of the”old school” Klan. He’s elevating his racism into an effort at a new, modern racist, annhilationist Klan. But its still the old KLAN anyway. He’s not new, and he doesn’t have a new idea in his head, and his “philosophy degree” hasn’t graced him with any NEW ideas. OLD STUFF, Rudy……which might have earned you a liberal professor’s enthusiastic grade…..but it’s OLD & you have been misled about your “originality” and effectiveness……….BLAH, BARF, and SHAM WOW.

  5. The More they write, – the more they tell “us” who they are.. I hope that someday – they themselves will find out who they “were.” = supposing that passing years & experience will give them more wisdom than they have now..
