ICE: Northern California arsonist is illegal alien twice sent back to Mexico

Reporting for Breitbart on Oct. 19, 2017, Michelle Moons cites U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Acting Director Tom Homan — that an illegal alien named Jesus Fabian Gonzalez had been arrested for setting a fire in northern California’s Sonoma County.

The Sonoma County wildfires are part of the still-ongoing terrible inferno in Northern California which had killed at least 42 people, burned more than 213,000 acres, destroyed 5,700 homes and businesses, and made homeless thousands of people and their companion animals. Although many evacuations have been lifted, tens of thousands of people still remain evacuated. (Source)

Moons writes that Acting Director Homan:

“confirmed on Thursday [October 19] that a man arrested in connection with setting a fire in Sonoma County Wine Country is an illegal alien from Mexico who has been twice returned to his ‘home country.’

Homan also confirmed that ICE has issued detainer requests for Jesus Fabian Gonzalez five times now in the past year alone, including the one issued on October 16 in relation to his most recent arrest on suspicion of arson. All of the arrests were made ‘by Sonoma County on various felony and misdemeanor charges,’ according to Homan.

Sonoma County [like all of the state of California] is considered a sanctuary jurisdiction and does not fully cooperate with federal immigration officials. That includes not honoring ICE detainer requests. ‘ICE was never notified of Mr. Gonzalez’ various releases,’ Homan wrote in the statement regarding Gonzalez.

There were several fires in the region, and it is not clear what role the fires Gonzalez allegedly set played in the overall disaster.

Breitbart reporter Moons then quotes verbatim ICE Acting Director Tom Homan’s public statement:

“Once again, a non-cooperative jurisdiction has left their community vulnerable to dangerous individuals and preventable crimes. ICE lodged a detainer against Jesus Gonzalez with Sonoma County jail officials on October 16, following his arrest on felony charges for maliciously setting fire to a property. This is especially troubling in light of the massive wildfires already devastating the region. Over the past year, ICE has lodged detainers against Mr. Gonzalez after four separate arrests by Sonoma County on various felony and misdemeanor charges. ICE was never notified of Mr. Gonzalez’ various releases. Additionally, Mr. Gonzales has been returned to his home country of Mexico on two separate occasions. The residents of Sonoma County, and the state of California, deserve better than policies that expose them to avoidable dangers. Non-cooperation policies – now enshrined in California state law – ensure only one thing: criminals who would otherwise be deported will be released and left free to reoffend as they please.”

Note this sentence by Moons:

“There were several fires in the region, and it is not clear what role the fires Gonzalez allegedly set played in the overall disaster.

In complete disregard of the above sentence, the Left are on a tear, trashing Moons’ report as scurrilous fake news.

Writing for Carbonated.TV, Ramsha Sadiq Khan calls Breitbart “a conspiracy theory website run by white nationalist Stephen Bannon” and Moons’ report as “right wing media falsely claims an immigrant started CA fire“.

Khan quotes Sonoma County Sheriff Rob Giordano‘s statement in a televised press conference “in an effort to shut down the baseless speculations”:

There is a story out there that [Gonzalez] is the arsonist in these fires. That’s not the case. There is no indication he is related to these fires at all. … I wanted to kill that speculation right now, so we didn’t have things running too far out of control.”

The only problem is Breitbart reporter Moons never said Gonzalez had set all the wildfires of the ongoing inferno in Northern California.

Once again, this is what Moons, citing the Acting Director of federal agency ICE, wrote — that on October 16, an illegal alien named Jesus Fabian Gonzalez was arrested on suspicion for setting a fire in Sonoma County, but that while there were several fires in the region, “it is not clear what role the fires Gonzales allegedly set played in the overall disaster.

In fact, Khan himself wrote that Jesus Gonzalez indeed had “started the fire” in Sonoma County:

“Jesus Fabian Gonzales [sic] . . . reportedly started the fire to keep himself warm and was carrying a fire extinguisher and lighter at the time, according to the officials. The sheriff’s department has since verified the fire was so small that a deputy had extinguished most of it himself before firefighters arrived.”

But Breitbart News has a different account than Khan’s.

Chriss Street reports for for Breitbart, October 16, 2017:

“Sonoma County Sheriffs had arrested Jesus Fabian Gonzalez, 29, at Maxwell Regional Park in Sonoma County after a series of reports of ongoing fires in the region. Mr. Gonzalez was observed around 3:00 p.m. PDT wearing a jacket and walking ‘out of the creek area and a plume of smoke behind him,’ according to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.

Mr. Gonzalez, who is homeless and reportedly known by law enforcement to have been living under a nearby bridge, claimed he was cold and had lit the fire to stay warm. But it was a balmy 78 degrees when he and the plume of smoke were first observed.”

In other words, what Moons, citing the deputy director of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, reported is entirely consistent with the accounts by Khan and Sheriff Giordano, which is that a twice-deported illegal alien from Mexico named Jesus Gonzalez ignited a fire in Sonoma County — one of many fires that became the raging Northern California inferno.

And so if anyone is engaged in writing and disseminating fake news and making baseless accusations, it is Carbonated.TV’s Ramsha Sadiq Khan and Sonoma County Sheriff Rob Giordano.

  1. THIS is how illegals repay a state that provided them with sanctuary. I wonder what old Moonbeam has to say about this. One can only imagine. The people of CA need to impeach this insane monster. Between Brown and Uncle Arnold they destroyed a once wonderful state. A state that people moved to for all the best life had to offer and now people run from CA.

  2. Actually the state had been in decline since Reagan was governor, but these two were the icing. Ugly and sad. The illegal should immediately be put to death, forget sending him back.

  4. Commifornia didn’t care about Kate Steinle’s death. Why should they care about what role this illegal alien had in killing other Americans?

It’s all about politics and power to them. American lives and laws mean nothing.

Kate Steinle’s life and death meant absolutely nothing to them.

  5. The recent fires in Northern California and California being a sanctuary state remind me of this scripture:

Psalm 34: 21: “Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.”

It is obvious to me that the fires in Northern California were God’s wrath on sin. California, for the most part, is horribly Godless and run by liberals. The state of California is one of the leaders in the resistance to President Trump.

Here are three counties hit hard by the fires in Northern California and here are their results from the 2016 Presidential Election:

    NAPA COUNTY, California
    Hillary Clinton 63.8 %
    Donald Trump 28.3%

    SONOMA COUNTY, California
    Hillary Clinton 68.8%
    Donald Trump 22%

    MENDOCINO COUNTY, California
    Hillary Clinton 58.2%
    Donald Trump 28.7%

  9. Someone once said; “In a democracy, people get the government they deserve,” and often attributed to Alexis de Toqueville … but it’s hard to verify where he said it, and even whether he really did.

*** California has become a magnet for illegals for one simple reason:
    * California Is Now an Official ‘Sanctuary State.’ Will Others Follow?
A couple of other states are considering similar bills. It was an uphill battle — even in one of the most pro-immigrant states.

Update at 2:30 p.m. EST on Oct. 5, 2017: Gov. Jerry Brown signed the bill on Thursday to make California an official “sanctuary state.”

California is poised to become the nation’s strictest “sanctuary state,” restricting state and local law enforcement’s cooperation with federal immigration authorities and forbidding them from asking about a person’s immigration status.

  10. It is almost a rule that whenever the useless, self-serving parasites in power demonstrate that they do not work for us, right on cue, someone blames the victims. We do not have control over this. It may be possible to control it, but we don’t and you will never gain control of it through the electoral process.

This isn’t strictly a “democracy”, even on paper. It is a republic. Even so, the so-called political parties “nominate” the “candidates” and you get to chooser between Wormwood or Screwtape. Then, when they destroy your freedom and rob us blind, someone says….., “well you know, it’s really all our fault”. I say nonsense.

The creatures they “select” are in no way representative of anyone with America’s best interests at heart. It is the same the world over.

  12. In the 30yrs I’ve lived in SoCal,, the most devastating fires have been caused in this order—–1st, by illegals who made campfires for heat or cooking & simply walked away fr them while still burning….OR 2nd,, recreational vehicle backfire, or over-heated/disabled cars…..or 3rd, in a rare instance,, lightning strike. Not too much else going on here.

  13. Here is some interesting information on who may have started the wildfires in Northern California:

This is from the Livestock Market Digest:

    November 15, 2017

Look Who was Busted for Starting Deadly CA Fire that Killed 41+

    (source: http://www.novanations.com)

    Excerpts:

“The California wildfires have been raging for quite some time which has caused unprecedented damage in the region. Now, it is important to note that fires in the California area are not unheard of, but they typically occur in December and January, and not October. These fires have forced thousands of residents to leave their homes in terror not knowing what they will return to when they are able.”

“In a week, these raging fires have scorched more than 200,000 acres, destroyed or damaged the last week more than 5,500 homes, and displaced 100,000 people.”

“As officials were studying the fires, they noticed a pattern of where the majority of them occurred. It seems that areas hardest hit by these fires were in areas within the legal marijuana business, and they are now suspecting foul play. As it turns out the areas that are being hit the hardest happens to be pot farms.”

“The New York Times reported that tens of thousands of marijuana growers live in this area, the vast majority of whom have no insurance.”

“As stated previously law enforcement officials are suspecting that Mexican cartels started these devastating fires. The cartel does not like competition especially when it comes to making drug money and if California is now legalizing marijuana you can bet that the drug lords are not happy. These ruthless individuals will continue on their path of destruction unless there is something to stop them. What that something is would be a wall between the Mexican border and the United States to prevent these people from entering our country. There is no reason that these criminals should be allowed to sneak into America and create havoc on innocent people.”

    • Most interesting, Tim.

What do you think of the “an energy weapon started the wildfires” conspiracy theory?

      Like

      • I have heard about that, but I don’t believe it happened.

I am always looking at the Sovereignty of God in the affairs of men. This is my take on the wildfires:

For quite some time, liberal Californians have been fighting for legalizing marijuana. They now have legal marijuana. The drug industry always attracts to itself the criminal element in society. Wouldn’t it make sense that 80% of marijuana growers/users are liberal democrats who voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016? The wildfires destroyed many pot farms and homes in the northern California neighborhood. I really believe that the wildfires in northern California was God’s wrath on the wicked who voted for Hillary Clinton and for unrighteous laws in California.

To me it doesn’t matter if Mexican cartels started the fires or a bunch of Boy Scouts started the fires. The Lord used the fires to destroy the wicked. And if Mexican drug cartels DID start the fires, I would say, evil shall slay the wicked.
